Bertold Fuchsin väitöstutkimus selvitti, miten viittomakielen kielitieteellistä tutkimusta voidaan hyödyntää viittomakielen opetuksen kehitettäessä. Tutkimus keskittyi viittomakielen taidon foneettiseen osa-alueeseen, toisin sanoen käsien, pään ja kehon liikkeiden muotoon.The aim of this study is to develop the phonetic aspects of teaching Finnish Sign Language (FinSL) as a foreign language. Like pronunciation as a part of spoken language proficiency, articulation, i.e. the exact form of the movements of the parts of the body, is one part of sign language proficiency. The main question in this study is how to teach these articulation skills to learners of FinSL.A prerequisite for teaching articulation is a detailed phonetic description of the language to be taught. For this purpose, FinSL language teaching material was transcribed using a transcription method developed by the American Sign Language (ASL) phonologists Robert Johnson and Scott Liddell. Analysis of the transcription revealed many features of how the articulators behave when signs are produced within whole sentences. By using these phonological processes signers are able to attain fluency and an appropriate signing speed. Another result of the analysis was an exact description of the interaction between manual and non-manual articulators. Phonetic analysis provided an answer to the question of what should be taught in FinSL articulation instruction. As to the question of how to teach it, articulation instruction was compared to spoken language pronunciation instruction. The similarities and differences between learning spoken languages and sign languages were discussed, and the aims and principles of sign language articulation instruction were defined. These issues are based on recent research about constructivism and foreign language teaching.At the end of the study, some articulation lessons were developed by using the teaching material which had been analysed. Había nacido el 10 de febrero de 1898 en Augsburg, Baviera (Al.), en el seno de una familia catalogada como burguesa. Estudió en el liceo de su ciudad natal, donde a temprana edad empezó a escribir pomas de “refinada sencillez”, según algunos críticos. Más adelante, se cuenta, interrumpió su carrera de Medicina para trabajar como enfermero en la I Guerra Mundial. En esos ajetreos escribió “La leyenda del soldado muerto”, por la cual su nombre fue incluido en la lista negra creada por el fascismo.The author of these lines and of many others on art and literature, who is usually only identified with the theater, was also a good poet, a good storyteller, and a good theorist of aesthetics and politics. He was born on February 10, 1898 in Augsburg, Bavaria (Al.), Into a family classified as bourgeois. He studied at the high school in his hometown, where at an early age he began to write pomas of "refined simplicity", according to some critics. Later, it is said, he interrupted his medical career to work as a nurse in World War I. Comparison and development of sustainable office façade renovation solutions in the Netherlands

E-mail: [email protected] Environmental, commercial and societal developments in the Netherlands stimulate the environmental improvement of the existing office building stock. In the Netherlands, about 15% of all office area was vacant in 2012, and the majority of offices have a relative poor energy performance. To measure the improvement, different assessment tools are applied. These tools either focus on one aspect, such as operational energy, and result in a specific outcome such as MJ/m2 , or these tools combine different aspects, such as energy and materials, through a weighted system and result in a generic outcome, such as ‘excellent’. In this research, the relation between assessment outcome and actual environmental impact is investigated of both types of tools, by reflecting the outcome of the tool to the carrying capacity of a system. The relation is investigated through a comparison of the energy and material aspect of three office façade renovation solutions using four different assessment tools. Using a tool in which energy and material impact is related to the carrying capacity, current energy focused optimization might lead to a sub optimization of actual environmental impact. To illustrate this, a calculated façade solution is presented with minimal environmental impact based on carrying capacity
