How to design an electric drum instrument using a MIDI module and an Op-Amp Amplifier circuit at an economical cost. This development is expected to be another way to form a musical instrument. By utilizing the existing technology in the microcontroller to produce a musical instrument that looks more efficient but dynamic. With economical costs and practical components obtained, the author assumes this can help musicians realize the audience's desire to have their own musical instruments. The purpose of this study is to be able to develop an electric drum device using an electric MIDI drum available in the market by adding an amplifier circuit and with economical materials. Based on the results of research that has been done, it can be concluded that the Design of an Electric Drum Using a Piezo Transducer Sensor has been successfully designed and made. The use of PVC pipes is more prominent in the manufacture of drum frames. Other components that are also used are flat zinc, foam heart, Triplex. For loud/slow sound output the beat on the pad is affected by the speaker sound output. For maximum results, we recommend finding a new source for making drum modules using the Inverting circuit as a switch. For pressure/vibration sensor readings, other types of vibration sensors should be used, because the sensors used by researchers are very sensitive and easily damaged

======================================================================================================================== Modern intelligent security systems require adaptive authentication mechanisms to counter the evolving threat of spoofing. This study introduces a smart door access system that synergizes facial recognition and LSTM-based head movement analysis to establish a robust two-factor authentication framework. The system utilizes a sequential workflow: first, facial features are extracted through histogram of oriented gradients embedding for identity verification, followed by an LSTM network that deciphers temporal head movement patterns (nodding and looking up) as dynamic behavioral biometrics. By integrating static facial attributes with motion-based gestures, the system reduces vulnerabilities inherent in single-modal biometric systems, particularly against static spoofing attacks. The LSTM architecture, trained on a custom dataset independently created by the author, demonstrates strong performance with accuracy approaching 100%. Experimental validation across multiple users shows a comparable overall authentication success rate, rivaling conventional facial recognition systems with an anti-spoofing success rate of 91%. Implemented on a self-built smart home hub platform, the solution operates at a relatively lower cost than commercial alternatives while maintaining real-time response (less than 50 ms). This work combines spatial and temporal biometric characteristics through LSTM, offering a scalable blueprint for secure yet accessible smart door systems in residential and IoT environments

The polymerization of dopamine can yield nature-inspired materials for diverse applications. Polydopamine (PDA) is used for modifying hydrophilic surfaces via deposition techniques; however, it lacks film-formation ability. In this study, we demonstrate the interfacial polymerization of dopamine with diamines via aza-Michael addition, which results in the formation of films possessing thicknesses in the range of nano- to micrometers with Janus properties for the latter. Experimental and in silico mechanistic investigations were conducted to determine the effects of the diamine chain length, monomer concentration, heteroatom, and solvent medium on film formation. The nanofilms exhibited exceptional stability in harsh organic solvents, ionic liquids, and strong acids. A 5-nm thick nanofilm composed of PDA and biomass-derived priamine exhibited controllable nanofiltration performance, demonstrating a high N,N-dimethylformamide solvent permeance of 26 L m−2 h−1 bar−1 and molecular weight cutoff of 540–704 g mol−1. Furthermore, the membrane was successfully applied in high-temperature nanofiltration. Additionally, the nanofilms demonstrated single- and double-sided adhesion on diverse surfaces, including wood and glass surfaces, which possess different wettability and roughness characteristics. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the structure–property relationship, polymerization mechanism, membrane separation, and adhesive applications of PDA–diamine freestanding films. The research reported in this publication was supported by funding from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). We thank Amr Elsakran from KAUST for his assistance with the adhesion strength measurements. Fig. 1 and the graphical abstract were created by Ana Bigio, scientific illustrator at KAUST. Biomass-based thin film composites (TFCs) fabricated only from abundant natural resources are emerging as next-generation organic solvent nanofiltration membranes. However, most of the existing membrane fabrication processes still use toxic chemicals, harsh solvents, and fossil-based supports. We report a plant-based, green TFC membrane based solely on sustainable resources. It is the thinnest defect-free nanofilm (only 12-nm-thick) fabricated only from natural resources. Dialdehyde starch was crosslinked with priamine at the interface of a water–eucalyptol solvent system. Interfacial polymerization occurred on a biodegradable cellulose acetate support obtained using phase inversion. The membrane has an ultrathin (12-nm-thick) selective layer, and the molecular weight cut-off and permeance were fine-tuned between 366 and 624 g mol−1 and 7 and 23 L m−2 h−1 bar−1, respectively. Stable nanofiltration performance under continuous crossflow filtration was achieved for seven days. The sustainability of the membrane fabrication platform was compared with those of other platforms. Our TFC membrane fabrication platform enables the conversion of biomass-based building blocks into high-value-added products.Fig. 1 and the graphical abstract were created by Dr. Thom Leach, scientific illustrator at Amoeba Studios and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
