In this article, I reflect on Husserl’s references to Descartes’ philosophy. My aim is to show why Descartes can be considered an exemplary case within Husserl’s investigations on the history of philosophy. In the first part, I consider the image of Descartes in Husserl’s philosophy, which remains virtually unchanged until his late work. Then I stress the ambivalence that runs through Husserl’s evaluation of the French philosopher. In the second part of this article, after discussing the meaning of Husserl’s Dichtung der Philosophiegeschichte and Crisis’ zig-zag method, I debate the reasons behind Husserl's corrections to Descartes’ thought. Finally, in the third session, I show Descartes’ function for the philosophy of the present

The aim of this article is to analyze the distinction between the Regulae’s and the Meditationes’ conception of the mind in relation to the doctrine of eternal truths. To do this, after recalling and discussing the content of this doctrine in the first paragraph, in the second I consider its application in the physics of Le Monde. Finally, in the last part, I discuss the insufficiencies of the Regulae in addressing the question of the foundation of knowledge, and I show how this question leads to the doctrine of eternal truths. Here, I also discuss the change of perspective between Regulae and Meditationes through the way in which the mind accesses truth, a problem deeply related to the doctrine of eternal truths

La salsiccia e le botte. Nutrimento e ambivalenza emotiva nell'educazione

Sausage and Blows. Nourishment and Emotional Ambivalence in Education. Often educators have to confront themselves with children staging a pain coming from deprivation and traumas lived in their very first childhood, that they express through food and eating disorders because of the strong emotional component characterizing nourishment (primitive form of reliance on adults). Toward these events the educator can react by means of the typical practices of the so called “poisonous pedagogy”. Through a heated debate with some of the psychoanalytical assumptions, the article tries to interpret the complex relationship between education and food in the view of a “dietetic pedagogy”, a concept inspired by the “dietetic philosophy” recently discovered by Peter Sloterdijk in Nietzsche’s work

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
