Post-Conservation Evaluation (PCE) framework for adaptive reuse museums: Case studies of George Town, Malaysia / Muhammad Firzan Abdul Aziz
The trend of converting historic buildings to museums has been found prevalent in the historic cities of Melaka and George Town, among the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Malaysia. However, adaptive reuse approach has not always brought in positive conservation impacts as some historic buildings turned dysfunctional after their conversion to museums. This scenario has called upon the needs for having an evaluation framework focusing on the post-conservation impacts of historic buildings converted to museums (adaptive reuse museums) within the UNESCO World Heritage of Malaysia context. Criteria of physical appropriateness, functional effectiveness and financial efficiency were scrutinised through literature review to conceptually form the Post-Conservation Evaluation (PCE). Case studies obtained through purposive sampling involving five historic buildings in the historic city of George Town were then used to test the operational and empirical capabilities of the conceptual PCE. Field work conducted at the case studies then led to the findings that the post-conservation impacts of adaptive reuse museums have been not convincing in the sense of physical appropriateness and also functionally ineffective in the sense of preserving sensitive collections. This evaluative research then contributed a PCE framework focusing on the impacts of adaptive reuse museums in the context of UNESCO World Heritage of Malaysia, based on validation via Delphi survey involving experts and stakeholders in the field of built heritage conservation
The Complete Muhammad Ali
Including material and photographs not included in most of the 100 other books about the champion, Ishmael Reed's The Complete Muhammad Ali is more than just a biography-it is a fascinating portrait of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. An honest, balanced portrayal of Ali, the book includes voices that have been omitted from other books. It charts Ali's evolution from Black Nationalism to a universalism, but does not discount the Nation of Islam and Black Nationalism's important influence on his intellectual development. Filipino American author Emil Guillermo speaks about how "The Thrilla' In Manila" brought the Philippines into the 20th century. Fans of Muhammad Ali, boxing fans, and those interested in modern African American history and the Nation of Islam will be fascinated by this biography by an accomplished American author.Intro -- DEDICATION -- INTRODUCTION -- The Curious History of an Icon -- CHAPTER 1 -- CHAPTER 2 -- CHAPTER 3 -- CHAPTER 4 -- CHAPTER 5 -- CHAPTER 6 -- CHAPTER 7 -- Did the Secret Government Fear a U.S. Muslim/Overseas Muslim Alliance? -- CHAPTER 8 -- CHAPTER 9 -- The Break Between the Prophet and his Disciple -- CHAPTER 10 -- CHAPTER 11 -- CHAPTER 12 -- The GOAT (Greatest Of All Time): Ali or Louis? -- CHAPTER 13 -- The Nation of Islam, the Mob, Showdowns in Canada and Sonny Liston -- CHAPTER 14 -- CHAPTER 15 -- The Taunts: Marketing or Racism? -- CHAPTER 16 -- CHAPTER 17 -- CHAPTER 18 -- CHAPTER 19 -- Boxing and the Brain -- CHAPTER 20 -- Ali's Feet -- CHAPTER 21 -- Mr. Dick -- CHAPTER 22 -- CHAPTER 23 -- The Opening Ceremonies, November 2005 -- CHAPTER 24 -- December 2005, Las Vegas -- CHAPTER 25 -- CHAPTER 26 -- June 16, 2004 -- CHAPTER 27 -- CHAPTER 28 -- CHAPTER 29 -- Aix-en-Provence -- CHAPTER 30 -- Ali as a Black Nationalist -- San Francisco, January 2004 Black Liberation Book Fair -- CHAPTER 31 -- January 31, 2004 -- CHAPTER 32 -- October 2005, Chicago -- CHAPTER 33 -- Why Ali remained with Elijah instead of following Malcolm -- CHAPTER 34 -- CHAPTER 35 -- February 4, 2006, Oakland, California -- CHAPTER 36 -- Like Zeus Descending from Mount Olympus -- CHAPTER 37 -- CHAPTER 38 -- Tuesday, February 28, 2006, New York -- CHAPTER 39 -- Bigger Than Boxing -- CHAPTER 40 -- Tribes Gallery, New York, April 2006 -- CHAPTER 41 -- June 2006, Louisville, Kentucky -- CHAPTER 42 -- CHAPTER 43 -- CHAPTER 45 -- Bad Company -- CHAPTER 46 -- Coxson, A Very Charming Rogue -- CHAPTER 47 -- Ali and the largest embezzlement scheme in Wells Fargo history -- CHAPTER 48 -- CHAPTER 49 -- "Lonnie is a stabilizing force."-Harry Belafonte -- October 29, 2006 -- CHAPTER 50 -- Abdul Rahman -- CHAPTER 51 -- CHAPTER 52 -- CHAPTER 53How Will Ali Be Remembered? Mobile application for blood donation using geolocation and rule-based algorithm / Muhammad Firzan Azrai Nuzilan and Mohd Ali Mohd Isa
Blood is a very important resource for humans because it acts as a medium for carrying the oxygen and nutrients to all other parts of human bodies. Blood demand continuously rising due to a lot of factors such as accident, disease, and research purpose. The issue is that the blood donation process will take time and is it hard to know whether the individual can donate their blood or not. To make sure that the supply of blood is enough to cover the demand, the Easy Blood application will be developed to make the blood donation process more efficient and faster. The geolocation technology was chosen to help the blood donor or people who need the blood to know the location of people who need the blood and blood donor. Besides, the rule-based algorithm is estimated to make the blood donation process goes efficiently by filtering the characteristic so that only suitable donor can donate the blood. Iterative Waterfall model that consisting of requirement analysis, design, system development, testing, and documentation helped the process of developing the application effectively because it consists of step by step process. If there are flaws found in any phase, the process can be reversed so that the problem can be solved. The application was tested using functional testing by three lecturers and everything are working. Last but not least, the application can be improved by implementing the machine learning that can help to predict the blood donor behavior and also the timing of the blood shortage

Green practice: an empirical investigation on the interiors of healthy restaurants in Penang / Shi Ying Chua and Muhammad Firzan Abdul Aziz
Green practices are typically categorised into four (4) areas: food and beverage, service, management, and the environment. The implementation of green practices, particularly those emphasising green interior design, however, is still in its infancy state and remains scarce. This study delves into the realm of green practices within the context of healthy restaurants, with two (2) primary objectives. First, to understand the interior design rationale of healthy restaurants in Penang, and second, to explore the perception of restaurateurs regarding the implementation of green practices for the interiors of their respective healthy restaurant. To gather primary data, the study conducted semi-structured, key informant interviews with restaurateurs in Penang, Malaysia, who met specific criteria which include the adoption of food-focused green practices, the presence of aesthetically pleasing interior designs, and the given positive reviews for both food quality and restaurant ambiance. The findings revealed that these restaurant owners effectively conveyed their concepts through their interior designs, using natural materials like wood, cement, and indoor plants. While they demonstrated awareness of environmental sustainability and health concerns, their understanding of green practices was somewhat basic. They were more focused on applying green practices to food and beverages than on creating a green interior ambiance
