No full textLa recente discussione sul "Fiore" ha riaperto una questione che invita a considerare la testimonianza del "carmen" di Federigo Da Porto a Marin Sanudo. Quanto alla composizione in Francia, essa confligge con quanto sappiamo della biografia di Dante. A favore della paternità dantesca milita in particolare l'argomento "interno" della sequenza "Roman de la Rose" - "Fiore" - "Commedia", ed è comunque rilevante che l'attribuzione del "Fiore" e del "Detto d'Amore" a una stessa mano (come dimostrato da Morpurgo e da Parodi) non possa facilmente spiegarsi se non all'interno dello sperimentalismo dantesco.The recent discussion about the "Fiore" reopened a question which invites to consider issues not directly referred to the actual text, such the testimony of Federigo Da Porto's "carmen" to Marin Sanudo. As for the composition in France, it conflicts with what we currently know about Dantes' biography. Among the "internal" arguments some relevance should be granted to the sequence "Rose" - "Fiore" - "Divina Commedia", especially if seen in connection with the common source of "Fiore" and "Commedia". Nevertheless it is rather significant that scholars show some difficulty in acknowledging the link between "Fiore" and "Detto d'Amore", a fact which strengthens the impression that attributing both poems to Dante Alighieri becomes more problematic when seen outside of the perspective of Dante's experimentalism
Matrix displacement decompositions and apllications to Toeplitz linear systems
No full textUsing the approach of Bozzo, Di Fiore, and Zellini, new matrix displacement decomposition formulas are introduced. It is shown how an arbitrary square matrix A can be expressed as sums of products of Hessenberg algebra matrices and high level (block) matrices whose submatrices are Hessenberg algebra matrices and have variable sizes. In most cases these block factors are block-diagonal matrices. Then these formulas are used in sequential and parallel solution of Toeplitz systems

No full textIl tema della monografia è nella dimostrazione del fondamentale rapporto che intercorre, nel caso dell'architettura antica medioevale e moderna, tra le discipline dell'Archeologia e del Restauro, chiamate a interagire per il fine di conservare le architetture e i siti nell'interezza dei loro valori e significati. L'argomento della monografia è sviluppato attraverso tre saggi: il primo, di Paolo Marconi, dimostra la centralità dell'esercizio filologico nel restauro attraverso una estesissima casistica di esempi reali. Coerenti con le premesse seguono i due saggi: il secondo saggio, a firma di Francesco Paolo Fiore, documenta gli aspetti operativi, eminentemente analitici, e le corrispondenti proposte progettuali per il restauro di valorizzazione del sito di archeologia moderna della città di Castro nel viterbese, attraverso il progetto di anastilosi e reintegrazione dell'edificio sangallesco della Zecca. Il terzo saggio, di Antonio Pugliano, completa la casistica delle dimostrazioni circa l'esercizio del metodo filologico, trattando del progetto di restauro di valorizzazione del sito archeologico di Ostia Antica. Ivi l'Autore propone la realizzazione di un Museo diffuso della città antica, utile sia alla fruizione turistica di qualità, sia alla formazione scientifica e tecnica degli operatori della filiera decisionale come architetti, archeologi, paesaggisti e conservatori. Si tratta di un complesso
progetto in itinere di Azioni integrate di Ricerca e Formazione che vede partner il MiBAC, l'Ordine degli Architetti PPC di Roma e Provincia e l'Università "Roma Tre" e che ha il suo naturale epilogo nella realizzazione di nuove strutture di Alta Formazione Specialistica (presso l'Università Roma Tre o presso le altre Istituzioni partner, sul modello di analoghe esperienze come la Scuola Archeologica Italiana di Atene)da attivare in veste di attore della programmazione della valorizzazione e della progettazione del restauro. An integrated approach to the evaluation of interventions on school buildings in the consortium between small towns
No full textIn order to pursue economies of scale and ensure quality and sustainability of services, the use of associated forms of management plays a central role for small towns in inland areas. The implementation of associated school services requires, in a first phase, the analysis of the school building heritage in order to verify if there is a suitable building or anyway adaptable to accommodate users in relation to a new catchment area. In a second phase it is instead necessary to choose the most appropriate intervention strategy to adapt the selected building to the regulations in force. This choice is related to the evaluation of various aspects including the achievable seismic safety level, energy efficiency, environmental impact, initial and management costs, interference with educational activities, etc. In order to investigate the issues highlighted, in this paper a decision support methodology is proposed to compare different intervention alternatives on existing school buildings according to an integrated and multi-criteria approach. The aim is to provide a tool for Public Administrations to make conscious programmatic choices and activate processes for the associated management of services

Investigating new scenarios in food preservation
No full textCreating products has great responsibility involved. Papanek (1984), Thackara (2005), and Manzini (2006) warned about the risks of the design activity, as well as the consequences of bringing products to the world (Fiore, 2018). Products create consequences: direct and indirect, intended and unintended.
Systemic design at the product scale is a dialogue between facts and concerns: navigation of multiple overlapping and interconnected systems, most often undertaken with incomplete information, awareness, and understanding.
With the premises of the related focus, products are systemic objects; this workshop intends to investigate new unexplored scenarios regarding food preservation. It treats the topic with a systemic design approach to understand the strengths, possible unintended consequences, rebound effects, and trace the boundaries of new systems. Considering the current ‘refrigerator object’, i.e., the appliance in charge of food preservation, during the workshop, participants will explore how this is closely linked to many household dynamics, including food waste (O’Neill et al., 2022). It results in a system that can be observed at different levels of detail (Tamborrini and Fiore, 2020). Sometimes objects designed with a function can lead to the opposite. For example, fridges and freezers, typically designed to preserve food, ‘very often operate as coffins of decay that play an active part in carrying discarded food towards the waste stream’ (Evans, 2012, p. 1132). This workshop combines the systemic design approach and “alternative nows” as design methods for investigating alternative scenarios such as the distributed refrigerator, the inside/outside refrigerator, the social refrigerator, and the locked refrigerator. The activity is structured as a focus group with researchers, designers, and non-designers that ended with a systemic design sprint on food preservation related to one of the four scenarios presented
