El teónimo <i>PTGYH</i> de la inscripción filistea de Ecrón
The Philistine Ekron inscription, discovered during the 1996 archaeological campaign at Tell Miqne (Israel), is written in a Canaanite dialect, but it mentions a feminine theonym, Ptgyh, unknown until now. Its explanation has been attempted through comparison with the Indoeuropean languages. In our opinion, it may be a name composed of two elements: PT, related to the root *POT / POS 'Lord', and GYH 'earth'.
Dissemination of annual report information on the Internet by South African companies
M.Inf.The Internet is a cost-effective and efficient way of distributing information to all stakeholders in a transparent, globalised business environment. It is imperative that companies adopt the Internet as a distribution method for corporate annual report information to remain competitive. The aim of this study was to determine the current state and level of adoption of the Internet as a delivery and communication mechanism for disseminating online/digital annual reports in the largest listed companies in South Africa. The population selected for the survey was the 2001 Financial Mail top 300 (SA Giants) companies based on total assets. The research was conducted by analysing the corporate websites of the selected companies. The survey was done to establish whether a corporate website existed and, if so, whether the full annual report was available and electronic format used. The aim of this study was to ascertain how many companies in South Africa are publishing full annual reports on the Web. The research consisted of a literature review and empirical study. The purpose of the literature review was to establish whether previous research exists in this field in South Africa. The results of the international literature review were compared to South Africa to determine whether the country is lagging behind global trends in this arena. The typical users, function, content and shortcomings of the annual report were identified. The benefits of and problems with digital annual reports for companies and stakeholders were described. Results indicate that the top 100 South African companies have increased their corporate Web presence from 43% in 1999 to 92% in 2002. Top 100 companies with annual reports on the Internet increased from 11% in 1999 to 84% in 2002. Results indicated that 227 (75,6%) of the top 300 companies had a website and 31 (10,3%) had no home page. The websites were also analysed to investigate how many companies had detailed electronic annual reports available. The study showed that 179 (59,6%) companies had digital annual reports and 48 (16,0%) had no digital annual report available on the Internet. Of the companies surveyed, 131 (43,6%) had their annual reports in PDF format and 58 (19,3%) in HTML. Only 38 companies (12,6%) presented annual reports in HTML and PDF format on the Internet. Very few companies provide users with the functionality to download data in spreadsheet format for manipulation. Only 7 companies (2,3%) offered this feature. This study also investigated the relationship between digital annual reports (dependent variable) and company characteristics (independent variable). The two independent variables chosen were profitability and industry type. The two dependent variables chosen were a corporate Web presence and digital annual reports. It can be concluded that there is a significant association between industry sector and digital annual reports, with 63,6% companies in the industrial sector with digital annual reports, compared to 82,1% in the financial sector and 77,4% in the mining resources sector. The conclusion can be drawn that there is no significant correlation between companies with a Web presence and the industry type in which each company operates. Of the companies in the industrial sector, 85,8% had Web presence compared to 92,3% in the financial sector and 90,3% in the mining resources sector. The investigation revealed that it is the profitable companies in South Africa with a corporate Web presence and with digital annual reports on their corporate websites
Collaboration Towards a More Inclusive Society: The Case of South African ICT4D Researchers
Part 2: ICT4D and Improvement of ICTsInternational audienceIn this study, research collaboration in the context of South African Information and Communication for Development (ICT4D) researchers was investigated using a mixed methods approach. South Africa, a country with stark development challenges and on the other hand a well-established ICT infrastructure, provides an appropriate context for ICT4D research. Firstly, a quantitative analysis of South African research collaboration between 2003 and 2016 was conducted to determine the existing research collaboration patterns of South African ICT4D researchers. This is based on the publications in three top ICT4D journals namely the Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries (EJISDC), Information Technologies & International Development (ITID), and Information Technology for Development (ITD). The results show that most co-authored papers were intra-institutional collaborations, with limited inter-institutional collaboration between South African authors or between South African and other African authors. Secondly, interviews were conducted with South African researchers who emerged as inter- and intra-institutional collaborators to gain insight into the technology, drivers and barriers affecting South African research collaboration. We report our findings and discuss the implications for employing research collaboration as a mechanism for addressing inequality and supporting inclusion

KONSEKUENSI YURIDIS DIHAPUSKANNYA PASAL 20 AYAT 2 UNDANG-UNDANG NOMOR 13 TAHUN 2016 TENTANG PATEN TERHADAP KEWAJIBAN PEMEGANG PATEN DI INDONESIA
Patents are exclusive rights granted by the state to investors for their inventions within a
certain period of time, implement the invention themselves or give approval to other
parties to implement it. In 2020, the Indonesian government made changes to regulations
by issuing the Omnibus Law. The amendment contains the abolition of Article 20
paragraph 2 of the Patent Law, which will have an impact on the loss of obligations of
patent holders in Indonesia, especially the obligation to process or use patent processes
in Indonesia. This thesis aims to find out the consequences of the abolition of the
provisions of Article 20 paragraph (2) of the Patent Law on the obligations of patent
holders in Indonesia. The research method used is normative legal research, with
secondary data as the main data source. The results of his research show that the
abolition of Article 20 paragraph (2) of the Patent Law is because it is considered
discriminatory, can reduce foreign investment, and is difficult to implement in practice.
The consequences that arise if the regulation is abolished are the loss of the obligations
of patent holders in Indonesia to make or carry out the process in Indonesia, and it
becomes increasingly difficult to transfer technology and knowledge from inventions
IJAIS Journal Citations in Web of Science and Scopus
This single journal study investigated the predatory journal landscape
in the information systems field, by analysing the
International Journal of Applied Information
Systems (IJAIS). The IJAIS was viewed from a bibliometric and citation perspective. The
bibliometric study examined article productivity, authorship patterns and collaboration.
An analysis
was performed of 728 articles published in 11 volumes and 104 issues of IJAIS in
the period 2012 to 2017. The citation study analysed citations to IJAIS papers
in Scopus and Web of Science. A cited reference search was conducted in Scopus
and Web of Science, and IJAIS papers cited in the list of references or works cited in Scopus
or Web of Science papers were retrieved. Results
of the bibliometric study revealed that the average number of articles per
volume in IJAIS was 62. 1837 authors contributed to this journal. The journal
displays a collaborative authorship pattern with 627 (86.13%) articles that
were co-authored, compared to 101 (13.87%) that were single authored. The
citation study showed that 751 Scopus papers cite
IJAIS, of which 18 were review papers, compared to 153 Web of Science papers that cite IJAIS of which 9 were review papers. Of the 728 IJAIS articles published, 198 (27.2%) papers were cited in Scopus and Web of Science combined.</p

Localize-It: Co-designing a Community-Owned Platform
One of the most difficult, yet undocumented, aspects of information and communications technologies and development (ICTD) projects is that of establishing partnerships around which researchers’ interventions will develop, be tested and grow. Constraints on timing and funding usually lead to short-term projects, in which benefits are biased towards researchers rather than the partner community. In order to avoid empty and unethical promises and to increase the potential benefit for the community, we consider the process of developing participatory partnerships in ICTD projects. The objective is to make the project community owned, allowing the participants to develop what they value as important. Using the case of a township-based wireless community content sharing network, we describe the potential and some of the challenges with this approach. The paper highlights building blocks, such as ethical behaviour and trust, to avoid recreating the dichotomy between research and practice, and building a constructive collaboration
