Strategic Conformance: Exploring Acceptance of Individual-Sensitive Automation for Air Traffic Control

    No full text
LIKE many complex and time-critical domains, air traffic control (ATC) is facing a fundamental modernization that builds on the use of more advanced automation (represented by SESAR in Europe and NextGen in the United States). The current function allocation-based relationship between controller and machine is envisioned to evolve to a more fluid, continuous and mutually coordinated team relationship. Consequently, the controller is expected to assume a supervisory and monitoring role, while relinquishing much of the tactical “hands-on” tasks to automation. ATC automation, in turn, is expected to grow in intelligence and its cognitive abilities to become more of a team member providing decision support and acting more autonomously. In association to these changes, one of the most pressing human factors challenges is how we can design automation that is embraced, accepted and trusted by the controller...Control & Simulatio

Positron Annihilation In Triphenylphosphine Oxide Complexes: Positronium Inhibition Mechanism Involving Excitation Of Charge Transfer States

    No full text
Positronium formation in triphenylphosphine oxide and its lanthanide and hydrogen peroxide complexes have been characterized. The low probability of positronium formation observed has been attributed to a mechanism involving competition between charge transfer at large distances induced by the positron-molecular electron interaction and positronium formation during positron molecule scattering. The molecular site responsible for positronium formation has been identified. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.4524-6249252Buckman, S.J., Sullivan, J.P., (2006) Nucl. Instr. Meth. Phys. Res. Avaliação técnico-econômica de alternativas de lodos ativados no tratamento de esgotos domésticos

    No full text

Professional practice directed to children with organic problems and unfavorable prognosis deserves attention since it is directly related to the psychological development of the child. It is presented the case study of a child with diagnoses of organic problems and behavioral complaints characterized as aggressive and competitive. It was analyzed the participation of the child, during three years, in a project of intervention in groups, with focus on modes of participation and peer interaction. The analysis allowed the identification of competencies and cooperative modalities of participation, which became more diversified and complex during the period of observation. With this study, it was possible to take a wider perspective of the possibilities and difficulties of the child, suggesting the need of broader analyses of the development of children with multiple developmental complaints.244720729Amaral, L.A., Deficiência: Questões conceituais e alguns de seus desdobramentos (1996) Cadernos de Psicologia, 1, pp. 3-12Amiralian, M.L.T.M., Deficiências: Um novo olhar Contribuições a partir da psicanálise winnicottiniana (2003) Estudos em Clínica, 15 (8), pp. 94-111Batista, C.G., Crianças com problemas orgânicos: Contribuições e riscos de prognósticos psicológicos (2004) Educar em Revista, 23, pp. 45-63Batista, C.G., Laplane, A.L.F., Modalidades de atendimento especializado: O grupo de convivência de crianças com deficiência visual (2007) A pessoa com deficiência visual: Um livro para educadores, pp. 85-111. , E. Food Value Of Mealworm Grown On Acrocomia Aculeata Pulp Flour

    No full text
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)Insects have played an important role as human food throughout history, especially in Africa, Asia and Latin America. A good example of edible insects is the mealworm, Tenebrio molitor Linnaeus, 1758 (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae), which are eaten in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia. This species is easily bred in captivity, requiring simple management. The bocaiuva (Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd) is an abundant palm tree found in the Brazilian Cerrado, providing fruits with high nutritional value. The aim of this work was to determine the chemical composition of T. molitor grown in different artificial diets with bocaiuva pulp flour. The nutritional composition, fatty acid composition, antioxidant activity, trypsin activity and anti-nutritional factors of larvae were analyzed. The results showed that mealworms grown on artificial diet with bocaiuva are a good source of protein (44.83%) and lipid (40.45%), with significant levels of unsaturated fatty acids (65.99%), antioxidant activity (4.5 uM Trolox/g of oil extracted from larvae) and absence of anti-nutritional factors. This study indicates a new source of biomass for growing mealworms and shows that it is possible to breed mealworms in artificial diet with bocaiuva flour without compromising the nutritional quality of the larvae. © 2016 Alves et al. A Brief History of Production Functions

    No full text
This paper gives an outline of evolution of the concept and econometrics of production function, which was one of the central apparatus of neo-classical economics. It shows how the famous Cobb-Douglas production function was indeed invented by von Thunen and Wicksell, how the CES production function was formulated, how the elasticity of substitution was made a variable and finally how Sato’s function incorporated biased technical changes. It covers almost all specifications proposed during 1950-1975, and further the LINEX production functions and incorporation of energy as an input. The paper in divided into (1) single product functions, (2) joint product functions, and (3) aggregate production functions. It also discusses the ‘capital controversy’ and its impacts.Production function; Cobb-Douglas; CES; Transcendental; translog; Zellner-Revankar; VES; Bruno; Kadiyala; Diewert; Kummel; Mundlak; Engineering production function; Multi-output; joint product; Data Envelopment; Household production function; Humbug production function; capital controversy; Cambridge controversy
