Enriching the French romance: Pauline Viardot-Garcia’s early cosmopolitan songs (1838-1850)
No full textThe development of the sentimental romance of the 1830s and 1840s into the more sophisticated genre of song known as mélodie is often linked to Gabriel Fauré and Henri Duparc’s early songs. In his seminal study, La mélodie française de Berlioz à Duparc, Frits Noske did much to correct this limited model by discussing the works of composers such as Charles Gounod, Hector Berlioz, Hyppolyte Monpou, and Louis Niedermeyer. The author, however, failed to consider the early songs of the influential French mezzo-soprano of Spanish origins, Pauline Viardot-Garcia (1821-1910). These compositions, close to thirty songs in French, German, Italian and Spanish, reflect the scope of her international operatic career and her facility to absorb different languages, musical styles, and cultures. Investigating the genesis of the early songs and analyzing and contextualizing them are key goals of the present dissertation. I intend to demonstrate through the examination of primary source material that the construction by influential contemporaries such as George Sand, Théophile Gautier, Alfred de Musset, and Franz Liszt of Viardot-Garcia’s personality as cosmopolitan, versatile, and exotic qualified her in the eyes of the Romantic generation as a valid representative of the Other and thus a legitimate creator of a wide variety of musical styles. In particular, the consecration of young Viardot-Garcia’s fascinating musical personality in George Sand’s influential novel Consuelo (1842) determined the course and objectives of her career both as singer and composer during the 1840s. Through the publication of her two initial song albums, Viardot-Garcia contributed to the modification of expectations surrounding the typical French romance of the 1840s. Viardot-Garcia modernized its style by introducing into it foreign musical resources, thus liberating it from the formal regularity and musical weakness, which limited its expressive possibilities. The high quality of these publications in combination with the composer’s international fame pushed them into the vanguard of the revitalization tendency of French art song. Just as Berlioz and Gounod have been commonly embraced from the time of Ravel to our day as the fathers of French mélodie, Viardot-Garcia may now receive her own accolade as the mother of French mélodie.Ph. Evaluación de 42 extractos vegetales para el control de la broca del café (Hypothenemus Hampei, Ferrari)
No full textLa broca del café Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) es la plaga más importante para el café en Colombia y hace el daño al atacar la cereza y reproducirse internamente en el endospermo, causando la pérdida del grano y muchas veces la caída prematura de los frutos. La zona cafetera Colombiana presenta altas densidades de siembra, topografía de difícil acceso para realizar las prácticas de control así como condiciones climáticas que favorecen la fructificación durante gran parte del año, lo cual hace que el ataque de la broca sea más severo que en muchas otras regiones del mundo cafetero. La mayoría de los países en los cuales la broca es un problema, la han atacado utilizando insecticidas sintéticos que causan efectos negativos en el ecosistema. En este trabajo se evaluaron 42 extractos de plantas pertenecientes a 6 familias botánicas recolectadas en la Reserva Natural Bremen-La Popa, utilizando granos de café pergamino húmedo desinfectado y hembras adultas de broca recién emergidas y desinfectadas. Los resultados de este trabajo, revelan que 7 de los extractos metanólicos evaluados presentaron actividad insecticida contra Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari), lo cual representa el 33.3% de los extractos crudos evaluados. El extracto metanólico de Alchornea calophylla (Euphorbiaceae) presentó la mayor actividad insecticida contra la broca, seguido por los extractos metanólicos de Critoniella acuminata, Tilesia baccata, Lepidaploa lehmannii (Asteraceae); Alchornea grandis, Acalypha diversifolia (Euphorbiaceae) y Faramea sp (Rubiaceae). La marcha fitoquímica para el extracto metanólico de Alchornea calophylla reportó la presencia de esteroles, saponinas, fenoles, flavonoides y taninos a través de cromatografía de capa delgada (CCD), los cuales podrían ser los responsables de la actividad contra la broca del café

No full textEste trabalho parte de uma reflexão sobre a imbricação entre o humano e a máquina na constituição do fazer literário. A série 3 poemas com auxílio do google, da poeta Angélica Freitas, suscitou a reflexão que será desenvolvida aqui, pois a autora valeu-se de buscas no Google para, ao “transcrever” os resultados de tais pesquisas, problematizar a criação poética via um eu-lírico transmutado em um lírico-ciborgue. Neste trabalho, através da análise dos poemas e tendo em vista a importância da dimensão autoral envolvida, pensamos o fazer literário enquanto uma simulação de discursos presentes em nossa sociedade, uma potência poética que problematiza a criação literária e o lugar político da poesia contemporânea.This paper reflects on the imbrication between human and machine in the literary making. The series 3 poemas com auxílio do google, by the poet Angélica Freitas, raised the idea that will be developed here. The author used Google searches to “transcribe” the results of such researches as poetical creations. In doing this, she problematizes the poetic creation with a lyrical-self transmuted into a lyric-cyborg. In this paper, through the analysis of the poems and bearing in mind the importance of the authorial dimension, we conceive the literary making as a simulation of discourses present in our society, a poetic power that problematizes literary creation and the political place of contemporary poetry

No full textA cultura da alcachofra (Cynara cardunculus L. var. scolymus (L.) Fiori) têm sido bastante difundida como alimento funcional e fonte de compostos promotores da saúde. É uma planta nativa da bacia do mediterrâneo, onde se encontra 70% da área total cultivada no mundo, possui porte herbáceo, com caule simples e estriado, folhas sésseis, inflorescência do tipo capítulo, com flores tubuladas, hermafroditas e de simetria radial. Os frutos são do tipo aquênios. A alcachofra é de dia longo com fotoperíodo crítico de 10.5 horas, a qual pode ser propagada de forma sexual (sementes) e assexual (rebentos). As partes comestíveis são as mais ricas em compostos promotores da saúde como polifenóis, inulina, fibras e minerais, portanto, entre as várias aplicações da alcachofra citam-se sua atividade hepatoprotetora, anticarcinogênica, antimicrobiana, antifúngica, antiflamatória, probiótica, atuando também na redução do colesterol.Artichoke cultivation (Cynara cardunculus L. var. scolymus (L.) Fiori) has been widespread as a functional food source and a source of health promoting compounds. It is a native plant of the Mediterranean basin, where it is 70% of the total area cultivated in the world, has herbaceous bearing, with simple and striated stem, sessile leaves, inflorescence of the chapter type, with tubular flowers, hermaphrodite flowers and radial symmetry , The fruits are of the achenes type. The artichoke is a long day with a critical photoperiod of 10.5 hours, which can be propagated sexually (seeds) and asexual (shoots). The edible parts are the richest in health promoting compounds such as polyphenols, inulin, fibers and minerals. No full textLa propuesta del presente proyecto, en continuidad con otros dos que lo anteceden, se apoyará en la perspectiva fenomenológico-existencialista del filósofo francés Maurice Merleau-Ponty y se proyectará hacia reflexiones de otros pensadores que también se han abocado, directa o indirectamente, a la imagen y a lo imaginario. Particularmente, en lo que ha sido considerada la segunda etapa de su pensamiento, su etapa "ontológica", en la que resulta crucial su enfoque en la visualidad. En tanto las argumentaciones propias de la producción filosófica sistemática ya no son suficientes para dar cuenta de la complejidad de la existencia humana, M. Ponty recomienda un filosofar por "fuera" [hors] de lo que canónicamente se ha considerado "la" filosofía. Y, esto, porque nuestra realidad no se supone "transparente", sino, en síntesis y en sus propios términos, contingente y ambigua. Estimamos, en la presente propuesta, que la visión sobre la realidad y sobre la reflexión filosófica que estas consideraciones implican, tienen una vigencia ineludible en estos tiempos (post)pandémicos, atravesados, por un lado, por la dimensión virtual, y por otro, por lo inesperado de los acontecimientos.In continuity with two others that preceded it, this project is based on the Maurice Merleau-Ponty's perspective and it will be projected to reflections of other thinkers who, directly or indirectly, were occupied of the image and the imaginary. In particular, we will focus on his "ontological" stage, in which is crucial the question of visuality. The arguments of systematic philosophical production are insufficient to explain the complexity of human existence; then, he look for a philosophizing by "outside" [hors] of what has canonically been considered "the" philosophy. Our reality, for Merleau-Ponty, is not "transparent", but contingent and ambiguous.
