No full textVengono illustrati i principali risultati di un'indagine sulla presenza di Thielaviopsis basicola (Berk. & Br.) Ferr. in parcelle di due campi sperimentali situati in Umbria dove erano stati somministrati al terreno alcuni fitofarmaci prima del trapianto del tabacco. Dazomet e bromuro di metile + cloropicrina sono i principi attivi, tra quelli saggiati, a cui corrisponde la maggior riduzione dell'inoculo sia nel primo che nel secondo anno di coltivazione della solanacea. A due anni dai trattamenti si è rilevato un sensibile incremento del numero di colonie/g terreno e pertanto non si può escludere che, in condizioni favorevoli, il patogeno possa provocare gravi danni

No full textDurch eine neue wasserfreie Sol-Gel-Synthese wurden superparamagnetische Eisenoxid (superparamagnetic iron oxide, SPIO) Kristalle hergestellt und nach Stabilisierung mit maßgeschneiderten biomimetischen Polymeren, hinsichtlich ihrer Anwendung als Kontrastmittel für die Magnetresonanztomographie (MRT) charakterisiert.Der beschriebene Sol-Gel-Prozess basiert auf der Umsetzung von Eisen(III)acetylacetonat und Benzylalkohol bei niedrigen Temperaturen im Stahlautoklaven. Hierdurch erfolgte die Synthese von monodispersen, 18 - 20 nm (dTEM) großen und einzelkristallinen SPIOs, bestehend aus nicht-stöchiometrischem Magnetit. Zur in vivo und Langzeitstabilisierung dieser SPIOs wurden maßgeschneiderte Stabilisatorpolymere mittels Festphasenpeptidsynthese hergestellt. Diese bestehen aus einem Poly(ethylen oxid) (PEO) - Block, der sterisch stabilisiert und die Blutzirkulation verlängert, sowie einer eisenbindenden Peptidsequenz (FERR) aus dem humanen H-Ketten Ferritin, die ein stabiles Haften der Polymere an die SPIO Kristalle ermöglicht.Die auf diese Weise dargestellten langzeitstabilen Nanosuspensionen aus FERR-b-PEO funktionalisierten SPIO Kristallen verhalten sich bei Raumtemperatur superparamagnetisch und besitzen mit 94 emu/ g eine hohe Sättigungsmagnetisierung und gute NMR-Relaxivitäten. Sie eignen sich für NMR-Imaging und zeigten in ersten in vivo Versuchen gute Eigenschaften als Kontrastmittel für die MRT. Die Bluthalbwertszeit in der Ratte liegt bei 11,5 min und ermöglicht so auch eine spezifische Bildgebung, etwa nach Bindung der funktionalisierten Partikel an vaskuläre Targets.Des weiteren ist durch die Variabilität des hier beschriebenen Kontrastmittelsystems eine Vielzahl von Anwendungen im diagnostischen, aber auch im therapeutischen Bereich (z.B. in Drug- und Gene Delivery) denkbar.Monodisperse superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) crystals, with a diameter of 18 - 20 nm (dTEM) and consisting of non-stochiometric magnetite, were synthesized via a new non-aqueous sol-gel process, based on the reaction of iron(III)acetylacetonate and benzyl alcohol in autoclaves at low temperatures. In order to stabilize the crystals in aqueous media, tailor-made biomimetic polymers were prepared by solid phase peptide synthesis. They combine a steric shielding and circulation time enhancing PEO block, with an iron oxide adhering peptide anchor (FERR) copied from human H-chain ferritin. Resulting nanosuspensions of FERR-b-PEO stabilized SPIO are superparamagnetic at room temperature and show a high magnetization at saturation of 94 emu/ g as well as good NMRrelaxivities. In vivo tests showed the blood half live to be 11.5 min in rats, thus also allowing for a binding of functionalized particles to vascular targets resulting in specific magnetic resonance imaging.Due to their versatility and good magnetic properties FERR-b-PEO/x stabilized SPIO are promising contrasting agents for MRI. Furthermore applications in therapeutic areas such as drug delivery and gene delivery are possible.von Julia Maie

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
No full textWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
