Efficiency Gains from Team-Based Coordination—Large-Scale Experimental Evidence

    No full text
The need for efficient coordination is ubiquitous in organizations and industries. The literature on the determinants of efficient coordination has focused on individual decision making so far. In reality, however, teams often have to coordinate with other teams. We present a series of coordination experiments with a total of 1,101 participants. We find that teams of three subjects each coordinate much more efficiently than individuals. This finding adds one important cornerstone to the recent literature on the conditions for successful coordination. We explain the differences between individuals and teams using the experience weighted attraction learning model. (JEL C71, C91, D23, D83, M54 )

The thesis describes how acoustics affect the ergonomics. After completing the survey, which was conducted among 40 students from FERI, from which most of them complained about the acoustics in the sector A of the technical faculty building. The study and optimization of proposed acoustic parameters was given on the basis of measurements carried out in the classroom A – 301. Measurements have shown that the condition of acoustic parameters in the classroom due to the construction method is very bad, depending on its intended use. The purpose of study was to draw attention to this situation and find a link that room acoustics and the way of speech of certain professors is one of the reasons for lack of interest of students for attending to lectures

V praktičnem delu naloge najprej predstavimo izbrana besedila otroških pesmi in jezikovno-slogovno analizo le-teh. Sledi osrednji projekt magistrskega dela, avtorske uglasbitve izbranih pesmi. Te so namenjene otroškemu pevskemu zboru. Zraven je zapisana klavirska spremljava in dodan inštrument (zvončki, prečna flavta, violončelo, violina, klarinet in palčke). Naslednje poglavje praktičnega dela zajema glasbeno-teoretične analize skladb. Analiza posamezne skladbe vsebuje analizo osnovne melodije, oblikovno in harmonsko analizo skladbe ter opis dodanih inštrumentov. Zadnji poglavji v nalogi predstavljata samorefleksija ustvarjalnega procesa in strokovna recenzija uglasbitev. Magistrsko delo tako ponuja teoretično ozadje komponiranja od prve note do končnega izdelka, skupka petih avtorskih skladb, ki skušajo besedila pesnika Ferija Lainščka približati najmlajši populaciji skozi glasbo. The present master\u27s thesis was created with the aim of composing and critically evaluating one\u27s own creative achievements. It consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into five chapters. In the first, we study creativity, define the creative process, person and product, and study its meaning and impact on the musical creation. In the second chapter, we list music theory. It includes a detailed presentation of the contents — from the basic record of the music to the composing of the melody. In the third chapter, we describe children’s poetry, discuss its types, and present an artificial children’s song. The fourth chapter highlights the versatile artist and writer of children\u27s poems, Feri Lainšček. In the last chapter, we present and describe the history, usability and versatility of the Musescore programme used to compose music. In the practical part of the thesis, we first present selected texts of children\u27s poems and their linguistic and stylistic analysis. This is followed by the central project of the master\u27s thesis, the author\u27s arrangement of selected poems. These are intended for a children\u27s choir. A piano accompaniment is written next to it and an instrument is added (bells, transverse flute, cello, violin, clarinet and claves). The next chapter of the practical part covers the music-theoretical analysis of the compositions. The analysis of an individual composition includes the analysis of the basic melody, the form and harmonic analysis of the composition, and the description of the added instruments. The last two chapters of the thesis are self-reflection of the creative process and the expert review of music. The master\u27s thesis thus offers a theoretical background of composing from the first note to the final product, a collection of five author’s songs that try to bring the texts of the poet Feri Lainšček closer to the youngest population through music

Strategic sophistication of individuals and teams. Experimental evidence

    No full text
Many important decisions require strategic sophistication. We examine experimentally whether teams act more strategically than individuals. We let individuals and teams make choices in simple games, and also elicit first- and second-order beliefs. We find that teams play the Nash equilibrium strategy significantly more often, and their choices are more often a best response to stated first order beliefs. Distributional preferences make equilibrium play less likely. Using a mixture model, the estimated probability to play strategically is 62% for teams, but only 40% for individuals. A model of noisy introspection reveals that teams differ from individuals in higher order beliefs

Can there be a Market for Cheap-Talk Information? An Experimental Investigation

    No full text
This paper reports on experiments testing the viability of markets for cheap talk information. We find that the poor quality of the information transmitted leads to a collapse of information markets. The reasons for this are surprising given the previous experimental results on cheap-talk games. Our subjects provide low-quality information even when doing so does not increase their monetary payoff
