Visual Discourse of the Ottoman Clove

The most common of these, after the tulip pattern, is the naturalist clove pattern. Different meanings are assigned to this pattern within the boundaries of form, color, and design. Identification and perception of these meanings has a special place within the frame of the culture that they relay. In this present study, the fields of meaning of the clove pattern frequently used in tile decoration arts among Turkish handicrafts are determined. Globalization and social media strategies by financial institutions worldwide
#nofulltext# --- Bolat, Nursel (Arel Author)The objective of this research is to investigate financial institutions on social media; their strategies and the ways they deal with customers in the light of the process of globalisation. The objective material is ING Bank and its Facebook site within the process of its institutional expansion worldwide. On four continents, Asia, Europe, North America and Australia; four countries Australia, Canada, India and Turkey are investigated comparatively. For almost ten years, social media using among banking companies has had a remarkable rise especially on Facebook. ING Bank, which was awarded “the most successful effective banking management” in Eastern Europe in 2012, is one of them. The research investigates how far the bank achieves this success online; the discourses between the bank and its customers on Facebook pages. Discourse analysis and semiological analysis are applied to four categories —advertisements, feedbacks, surveys and social activities on Facebook pages in four countries of an international bank within a three month’s period
The role of social media strategies in competitive banking operations worldwide

Reklam ve algı ilişkisi: Reklam metinlerin alımlanmasında duyu organlarının işlevleri hakkında bir inceleme

İnsanın dış dünya ile etkileşimine açılan yegâne pencere insanlarda bulunan algı kapıları konumundaki duyu organlarıdır. ‘Beş duyu organı’ olarak bilinen algı kapıları insanın hem etkileme hem etkilenme aracı olarak işlev görmektedir. Özellikle insan psikolojisinin zaaflarından, tatma, dokunma, işitme ve koku alma, görme hassasiyetinden ve estetik merakından kaynaklanan bu bilinçdışı gerçeklik özellikle tecimsel alanda aracılar tarafından profesyonelce kullanıldığını söylemek yanlış olmaz. Bu alandaki ajanların başında reklâm verenler ve dolayısıyla reklâm ajansları gelmektedir. Comparing parameter recovery methods for diameter distribution models of oriental spruce (picea orientalis (L.) link.) and scotch pine (pinus sylvestris L.) mixed stands located trabzon and giresun forest regional directorate
Diameter distributions are important stand characteristic for describing forest stand structure and stand dynamic. The knowledge about diameter distribution has been required to forecast the range of products, which might be expected from a stand in forest management. There are several methods for predicting the diameter distribution of a stand, varying from methods which utilize theoretical distribution functions to non-parametric methods. In these methods, the studies characterizing diameter distributions with probability density functions (pdf) have provided the most successful and predictive results to model diameter distributions. In fitting the probability density functions, percentiles and moments values of diameter distributions have been used successfully to characterize distributions. The parameter recovery methods for calculating the parameters of probability density functions include the different percentiles values for distribution, e.g. 67, 31, 25, 50 or 95% values of the diameter distribution. In this study, 161 sample plots were used to compare some parameter recovery methods using different percentiles and moment values for distribution for fitting 3-paramaters Weibull in Oriental spruce and Scotch pine mixed stands located in Trabzon and Giresun Forest Regional Directorate. The parameter recovery methods were compared by based on Rennolds et al. (1988)’s error index values calculated by difference between observed and predicted diameter distributions. The comparative results have shown that the parameter recovery method using 25%, 50% and 63% values with 2.341615 mean rank has the more successful results for describe different diameter distributions than other recovery methods
Analysis of the hybrid genomes of brewing yeasts
One of the best guarded secrets of brewers is represented by the brewing yeast employed in beer fermentation, due to its profound impact upon the specific flavour profile of the final product. The current research tackles the genome diversity of lager brewing strains as well as their impact on important phenotypic traits. Furthermore, the development of a new recyclable dominant marker is described. This opened the way to unravel the molecular mechanism of cross-genome transcriptional regulation within a lager brewing strain. To prove the inherited genotypic and phenotypic advantages of the hybrid nature of bottom fermenting yeasts, an "artificial" hybrid was constructed between a haploid S.cerevisiae (italic) strain of the CEN.PK family and a haploid strain derived from the S. eubayanus (italic) type strain CBS12357, using mass mating. The heterosis (hybrid vigor) of the offspring proved the beneficial combination between the cold tolerance from one parent and the strong fermentative metabolism of sugars from the other parent. The research in this thesis brings some layers of transparency into the opaqueness of the genomes of lager brewing strains.BiotechnologyApplied Science

Structural, Optical, Electrical and Electrocatalytic Activity Properties Of Luminescent Organic Carbon Quantum Dots
Bolat, Atilla (Arel Author), Yıldırım, Osman (Arel Author)Carbon is an essential element in human life and recently becoming technologically prominent due to the emerging field of "Carbononics". We demonstrate organic carbon quantum dots (qdots) containing nitrile bonded (C N bond) d-glucose-like traces in various sizes obtained from wheat flour to be promising for imaging applications and to possess a relaxor ferroelectric property and an enhanced electrocatalytic activity that could reduce the cost of energy devices and simple to scale up for the commercialization. The secondary electron microscopy (SEM) imaging shows that the particle size of carbon qdots can be controlled via the sonication exposure time. Elemental analysis and vibrational spectroscopy results show that carbon qdots are sensitive to N-2 gas in the atmosphere and could weaken its "carbogenic" property by making a stable C N bond at ambient atmosphere. Rietveld analysis and HR-TEM studies demonstrate that the structure of the C qdots was found to fit best with an acentric primitive orthorhombic lattice. The laser scanning confocal microscopy (LSCM) images show enhancement of the light emission when reducing the size and characteristic excitation wavelength-dependent light emission of C qdots. The photoluminescence and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy techniques show surface dominant emission and absorption upon the nitrile bonding
