SUSTAINABILITY IN MUSEUMS PRACTICES EVIDENCES FROM ITALIAN PERSPECTIVE

After investigating a sample of Italian museums, pointing out their goals, the paper carries out a case study based on museum annual reports and qualitative data. Considering the Italian perspective, social sustainability prevails on the economic one. With respect to environmental sustainability, some difficulties emerged. This study provides an insight into sustainability practices and their communication in the Italian museum The study is useful for managers and professionals in the field. Sustainability remains a new topic on Italian museums and a field of interest in academic research. This is one of the first studies in Italy that addressed sustainability in the museum sector. Among the limitations, the dimension of the sample has to be mentioned. It is due to the fact that only a few museums prepare annual/social reports
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textThe requirement and urgency for integrating social and environmental issues into organizational activities and related business processes, calls for the need to deepen the topic of sustainability. For this end, among the 54 papers presented at EISIC 2023, 11 were selected as the most related to this topic. These papers were, then, improved considering sustainability issues and were submitted through the EquinOCS platform. Then, they were subjected to a double-blind peer-review process followed by a thorough meta-review. The papers included in this volume have been grouped into two main parts,
discussing the topic of “sustainable management”:
• Part 1: Societal and Corporate Sustainability Outcomes
• Part 2: Operational and Tactical Sustainability
Part 1 embraces first the concept of sustainability in its societal dimension for the well-being of communities, second focuses on the ability of organizations to pursue economic, social, and environmental objectives synergistically.
Part 2 focuses on methods and tools of evaluation by analyzing existing practices implemented by organizations and their effects on resources management and sustainable performance

Enhancing Sustainability in Italian Opera houses
No full textPurpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the sustainability in performing arts, in particular in the context of Italian Opera houses, considering the way they are facing financial viability and how they can enhance social inclusion initiatives and increase public awareness to broaden the audience base. These dimensions of sustainability enable Italian Opera houses to fulfill their objectives and missions, including maintaining high productivity levels without compromising the quality of their artistic outputs or diminishing their engagement with local communities.
Methodology: The research adopts a mixed methods approach: literature review, desk analysis and quantitative analysis. Data will be collected through desk analysis and a filed analysis, conducted through a survey.
Findings: The results indicate that the economic sustainability of Italian Opera houses has not been effectively attained, and that audiences cannot be expanded through the promotion of social inclusion and environmental sustainability. The study reveals several barriers that render Italian Opera houses less inclusive. For instance, current audiences perceive ticket prices and the locations in major Italian cities as significant obstacles to attending opera performances.
Limitations of the research: The research is limited by its specific focus on Italian Opera houses, which may not be directly applicable to other cultural sectors or regions.
Originality/value of the research: This study offers a perspective on sustainability, both in terms of the economic and financial viability of Italian Opera houses and in terms of the public’s willingness to support Italian Opera houses that implement sustainable initiatives. It provides valuable insights for policy makers, cultural managers and opera and symphony foundations seeking to improve sustainability, inclusivity and audience engagement

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
