    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Pemilihan Maskapai Penerbangan pada Biro Perjalanan Haji dan Umroh Menggunakan Metode AHP-CODAS Tingginya peminat haji dan umroh menimbulkan banyak bermunculan usaha biro perjalanan haji dan umroh di Indonesia, yang tentunya tidak terlepas dari persaingan antar pelaku usaha dengan memberikan pelayanan dan harga yang sesuai. PT Tur Silaturahmi Nabi (Tursina) merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang menyediakan paket perjalanan haji dan umroh yang telah melayani ribuan jamaah sejak tahun 1997. Pemilihan maskapai menjadi salah satu upaya yang dilakukan biro perjalanan haji dan umroh agar dapat memberikan pelayanan dan harga yang terbaik bagi konsumennya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memilih maskapai terbaik dari empat maskapai full service carrier yang bekerja sama dengan PT Tursina menggunakan metode AHP-CODAS. Penggunaan metode AHP bertujuan untuk mencari nilai bobot kriteria pemilihan maskapai, sedangkan metode CODAS digunakan untuk melakukan penilaian terhadap keempat maskapai full service carrier yang bekerja sama dengan PT Tursina, yaitu maskapai EK,EY,SV dan GA. Wawancara dan studi pustaka penelitian terdahulu dilakukan dalam melakukan pengumpulan data. Hasil dari perhitungan metode AHP-CODAS menghasilkan kriteria reputasi keamanan menjadi kriteria pemilihan paling penting di PT Tursina dengan bobot sebesar 0,37 dan maskapai EK menjadi maskapai terbaik dengan perolehan nilai Hi sebesar 0,25

    INDONESIA: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi pada permasalahan rendahnya sikap toleransi dan tingginya paham radikalisme di kalangan mahasiswa. Upaya pencegahan dapat dilakukan ditempuh dengan insersi prinsip moderasi beragama dalam pembelajaran serta mengoptimalkan pendekaatan-pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat melahirkan cara berpikir kritis, bersikap menghargai perbedaan, menghargai pendapat orang lain, toleran, demokratis, berani menyampaikan gagasan, sportif dan bertanggung jawab. Model PBL merupakan salah satu upaya yang dapat meningkatkan sikap Tawasuth dan Tasamuh mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi: 1) Penggunaan Model PBL pada pembelajaran PAI, 2) Sikap Tawasuth Mahasiswa, 3) Sikap Tasamuh, 4) Pengaruh Penggunaan Model PBL pada pembelajaran PAI terhadap Sikap Tawasuth Mahasiswa, 5) Pengaruh Penggunaan Model PBL pada pembelajaran PAI terhadap Sikap Tasamuh Mahasiswa, 6) Model PBL secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif, 7) Sikap Tawasuht Mahasiswa secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif, 8) Sikap Tasamuh secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif di Program Studi Manajemen dan Program Studi Akuntansi Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Islam Nusantara Kota Bandung. Kerangka berpikir pada penelitian ini menggunakan 3 (tiga) teori sebagai alat analisis dalam pemecahan masalah ini yaitu: Grand Theory Problem Based Learning, Middle Theory Moderasi Beragama, Applied Theory Pembelajaran PAI Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian Mixed Methods Research dengan model sequential explanatory. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi.Teknik Analisis Data menggunakan Analisis Regresi Linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Penggunaan Model PBL pada pembelajaran PAI memperoleh kualifikasi baik dengan rata rata skor 83 %, 2) Sikap Tawasuth mahasiswa memperoleh kualifikasi sangat baik dengan rata rata skor 86%, 3) Sikap Tasamuh Mahasiswa memperoleh kualifikasi sangat baik dengan rata rata 86,5%, 4) Penggunaan Model PBL pada pembelajaran PAI berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap sikap Tawasuth mahasiswa, 5) Penggunaan Model PBL pada pembelajaran PAI berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap sikap Tasamuh mahasiswa, 6) Penggunaan Model PBL secara kualitatif memperkuat dan memperdalam data kuantitatif, 7) Sikap Tawasuth mahasiswa secara kualitatif memperkuat dan memperdalam data kuantitatif, 8) Sikap Tasamuh mahasiswa secara kualitatif memperkuat dan memperdalam data kuantitatif di Program Studi Manajemen dan Program Studi Akuntansi Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Islam Nusantara Kota Bandung. ENGLISH: This research is motivated by the issue of low tolerance and the rise of radicalism among students. Preventive efforts can be made through the insertion of religious moderation principles into learning, as well as optimizing learning approaches that foster critical thinking, respect for differences, appreciation of others' opinions, tolerance, democracy, the courage to express ideas, sportsmanship, and responsibility. The PBL (Problem-Based Learning) model is one approach that can enhance students' attitudes of moderation and tolerance in the learning process. The objectives of this study are to identify: 1) the use of the PBL model in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, 2) students' attitudes of tawasuth , 3) students' attitudes of tasamuh, 4) the influence of using the PBL model in islamic religious education learning on students' attitudes of tawasuth , 5) the influence of using the PBL model in PAI learning on students' attitudes of tasamuh, 6) the PBL model both quantitatively and qualitatively, 7) students' attitudes of tawasuth both quantitatively and qualitatively, 8) students' attitudes of tasamuh both quantitatively and qualitatively in the management and Accounting Study Programs of the Faculty of Economics at Universitas Islam Nusantara, Bandung. The conceptual framework of this research employs three theories as analytical tools in addressing the problem, namely: Grand Theory of Problem-Based Learning, Middle Theory of Religious Moderation, and Applied Theory of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Learning. This research utilizes a Mixed Methods Research approach with a sequential explanatory model. Data collection techniques include questionnaires, interviews, observations, and document studies. The data analysis technique employed is simple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that: 1) the use of the PBL model in PAI learning received a good qualification, with an average score of 83%, 2) students' attitudes of tawasuth received an excellent qualification, with an average score of 86% 3) students' attitudes of tasamuh received an excellent qualification, with an average score of 86.5%. 4) the use of the PBL model in PAI learning has a positive influence on students' attitudes of tawasuth , 5) the use of the PBL model in PAI learning has a positive influence on students' attitudes of tasamuh, 6) the qualitative use of the PBL model strengthens and deepens the quantitative data, 7) students' attitudes of tawasuth qualitatively strengthen and deepen the quantitative data, 8) students' attitudes of tasamuh qualitatively strengthen and deepen the quantitative data in the Management and Accounting Study Programs of the Faculty of Economics at Universitas Islam Nusantara, Bandung ARABIC: تأتي هذه الدراسة في سياق مشكلة تدني مستوى التسامح وارتفاع نسبة الفكر الراديكالي بين الطلاب. ويمكن اتخاذ التدابير الوقائية من خلال إدماج مبادئ الوسطية الدينية في التعليم وتعزيز استخدام أساليب التعليم التي تولد التفكير النقدي، وتقدير الاختلافات، واحترام آراء الآخرين، والتسامح، والديمقراطية، والشجاعة في طرح الأفكار، والروح الرياضية، وتحمل المسؤولية. ويُعدّ نموذج التعلم القائم على المشكلات (PBL) أحد الأساليب التي يمكن أن تسهم في تعزيز موقف التوسط والتسامح لدى الطلاب في عملية التعلم. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحديد ما يلي: 1) استخدام نموذج PBL في تعليم التربية الإسلامية، 2) موقف التوسط لدى الطلاب، 3) موقف التسامح لدى الطلاب، 4) تأثير استخدام نموذج PBL في تعليم التربية الإسلامية على موقف التوسط لدى الطلاب، 5) تأثير استخدام نموذج PBL في تعليم التربية الإسلامية على موقف التسامح لدى الطلاب، 6) نموذج PBL من الناحيتين الكمية والنوعية، 7) موقف التوسط لدى الطلاب من الناحيتين الكمية والنوعية، 8) موقف التسامح من الناحيتين الكمية والنوعية في برنامج إدارة الأعمال وبرنامج المحاسبة في كلية الاقتصاد بجامعة الإسلام الوطنية في مدينة باندونغ. تعتمد الإطار الفكري في هذه الدراسة على ثلاث نظريات كأدوات تحليل لحل هذه المشكلة، وهي: النظرية الكبرى لنموذج التعلم القائم على المشكلات، النظرية المتوسطة للوسطية الدينية، والنظرية التطبيقية لتعليم التربية الإسلامية. استخدمت هذه الدراسة نهج البحث المختلط باستخدام النموذج التوضيحي المتسلسل. تم جمع البيانات باستخدام الاستبيانات والمقابلات والملاحظات ودراسة الوثائق. تم تحليل البيانات باستخدام تحليل الانحدار الخطي البسيط. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة ما يلي: 1) حصل استخدام نموذج PBL في تعليم التربية الإسلامية على تصنيف جيد بمتوسط درجات 83٪، 2) حصل موقف التوسط لدى الطلاب على تصنيف ممتاز بمتوسط درجات 86٪، 3) حصل موقف التسامح لدى الطلاب على تصنيف ممتاز بمتوسط درجات 86.5٪، 4) كان لاستخدام نموذج PBL في تعليم التربية الإسلامية تأثير إيجابي وذو دلالة إحصائية على موقف التوسط لدى الطلاب، 5) كان لاستخدام نموذج PBL في تعليم التربية الإسلامية تأثير إيجابي وذو دلالة إحصائية على موقف التسامح لدى الطلاب، 6) عزز استخدام نموذج PBL النوعي البيانات الكمية وعمقها، 7) عزز موقف التوسط لدى الطلاب من الناحية النوعية البيانات الكمية وعمقها، 8) عزز موقف التسامح لدى الطلاب من الناحية النوعية البيانات الكمية وعمقها في برنامج إدارة الأعمال وبرنامج المحاسبة في كلية الاقتصاد بجامعة الإسلام الوطنية في مدينة باندونغ

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
