Indonesia's tobacco has good potential for exporting to the world market. Cigars are one of the derivative products that can compete with other exporting countries in the world. The trend of Indonesian cigar exports in 2022 has decreased. The study aims to identify the relationship between Indonesian cigars and competing countries in the international market. The research data to be observed uses HS code 240210 by comparing competitor countries between Indonesia, the Dominican Republic, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and Hungary. The analysis method used is the AIDS (Almost Ideal Demand System) model, which will describe the price elasticity of demand, cross-price, and income. The results obtained are based on the income elasticity of Indonesian cigars, including normal goods, with a value of 0.0287. The cross-price elasticity results show that Indonesian cigars tend to compete with Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Hungary cigars because they are positive. Meanwhile, Indonesian cigars are related to the Dominican Republic and Germany as complementary goods. Based on the results of the price elasticity of demand, a negative value is obtained, including Indonesian cigars, which means that the demand for Indonesian cigars is inelastic.

Tobacco is a commodity that has potential in Indonesia. Processed tobacco that is widely consumed by the public is cigars. The value and quantity of Indonesian cigar exports decreased in 2022. Indonesia as a world cigar exporter still has to compete with other exporting countries. The purpose of this study was to analyse the competitiveness of Indonesian cigars and the dynamics of the competitiveness position as a world exporter and competitor country. Dominican Republic, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain and Hungary were observed as competitor countries. The analysis was conducted over a 12-year time span with HS code 240210. The analytical methods to answer the research objectives are Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA) to identify the level of comparative competitiveness of Indonesian cigars and Export Dynamic Product (EPD) to analyse the competitive competitiveness position of Indonesian cigars. The research results obtained that Indonesian cigar exports have a comparative advantage with an increasing competitiveness trend value, but have decreased in the last two years. The position of Indonesian cigar competitiveness has a retreat position in the first period and becomes a falling star in the second period. In the third period, it increased in the rising star position and fell again in the fourth period in the lost opportunity position

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Indonesia is one of the main exporters of seaweed in the world market. Seaweed traded consists of raw products and processed products. Processed seaweed products are in the form of gelatin with HS code 130231 and carrageenan with HS code 130239. The high demand and value of processed seaweed products is an opportunity for Indonesia. The total world demand for agar in 2018 was 275,188,000. USincreased4.9percentfromthepreviousyear,whilecarrageenanin2018hadtotalworlddemandamountedto1,131,820,000US increased 4.9 percent from the previous year, while carrageenan in 2018 had total world demand amounted to 1,131,820,000 US, an increase of 8.4 percent from the previous year (ITC, 2019). This research aimed to analyze the competitiveness of processed seaweed and determine policies to increase Indonesian processed seaweed exports in the world market. The data in this study used secondary data. The competitiveness of processed Indonesian seaweed products is measured using Revealed Comparative Analysis (RCA) and Export Product Dynamic (EPD). The results of the analysis showed that processed Indonesian seaweed in the form of carrageenan and agar has comparative competitiveness in the world market. The position of competitiveness in the main destination countries with rising star status has strong competitiveness, but the increasing demand for processed seaweed in the world has caused Indonesia to lose the opportunity to optimize its profits. Indonesia needs to increase the quantity of processed seaweed exports in the form of carrageenan and agar by encouraging domestic investment to develop the seaweed processing industry sector

Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
