J.S. Bach’s “Anna Magdalena” as a Basic Tool for the Development of Beginner Pianists
Abstract
The following paper aims to analyse the notebook ‘Anna Magdalena’ as a means for the development of specific knowledge and skills concerning teaching of Baroque and more specifically Bach style, for the beginner pianist. The focus of the paper is oriented towards examining the notebook, and providing a fresh perspective for its teaching from a pedagogical standpoint. Moreover, the paper aims to show various modes of teaching applied to the most popular pieces in the notebook. The author exhaustively lists widespread performer issues relating to the baroque’s technique, specifically, Bachian stylistic perception and attempts to show the ways in which these pieces can be taught. The study will be based on practice-led research methodology.</jats:p

ABSTRACT
Introduction
According to the American College of Radiology and the American Cancer Society, CTC has been recognized as a valuable screening method for detecting CRC in people at medium risk as an alternative to endoscopic colonoscopy. The condition for the proper interpretation of this procedure is the patient’s preparation for the examination. The evaluation of the test includes: topogram, transverse images (as reference images), multifaceted reconstructions and three-dimensional images (3D navigator).
Materials and methods
The literature on the use of CTC in the diagnosis of CRC was analyzed. A review of the scientific literature indexed in the PUBMED database from the last 10 years was carried out.
Results
The introduction of dual energy computed tomography (DECT) clearly improved the diagnostic accuracy of CTC. The main advantage of DECT is the possibility of obtaining iodine maps and VNC (virtual non-contrast) – a ’’virtual’’ native image (without the use of contrast). DECT allows you to monitor the results and extent of iodine capture on VNC and iodine map images, respectively, without using pre-recorded tomographic images. Pilot tests showed that DECT is an effective tool in CT colonography diagnostics and electronic colon loop cleaning after barium labeling. The use of the Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) algorithm in high energy tomography helps in the diagnosis and detection of intestinal tumors.
Conclusions
The development of modern technologies used in CT colonography proves that it is a safe and acceptable technique for patients. Lack of invasiveness, low radiation dose and high diagnostic efficiency of CTC may encourage more people to undergo colorectal cancer screening in the future.

“The wail of the genes”. Magdalena Grzebałkowska: 1945. Wojna i pokój. Warszawa, Biblioteka Gazety Wyborczej, 2015, ss. 413. Anna Janko: Mała zagłada. Kraków, Wydawnictwo Literackie, 2015, ss. 259.
In her review the author compares the narrations about the war and the Shoah which were published in 2015: a report by Magdalena Grzebałkowska entitled 1945. Wojna i pokój andMała zagłada by Anna Janko. The basis of the comparison is constituted by the Shoah of the Jews as the common, although secondary theme of both books, its influence upon the socialimagination and the rhetoric of both narrations. Apart from indicating the strong points of the narrations, which include an in‑depth study of the archive materials associated with the end of the war (Grzebałkowska) or the presentation of the problem – which was hardly present in the writings devoted to the war and occupation in Poland (the pacification of the village Sochy in the Zamojszczyzna region in 1943, of which Janko’s family fell victim), Marta Tomczok directs her attention to the weaknesses of such discourse, especially in reference to Mała zagłada. These weaknesses include: the intensification of the suffering of the recipient, effected through the juxtaposition in one book of the greatest massacres of children in the history of the world and the rhetoric of the Shoah transposed into the area of the stories about the war sufferings of the Poles. Janko presents both narrations, the Polish and the Jewish one, as mutually competitive

Silesia – Silentium: Silesian Women in Anna Dziewit-Meller’s Prose
This article aims to present the image of the Silesian women emerging from the novels by Anna Dziewit-Meller (Góra Tajget [Mount Taygetus], Od jednego Lucypera [All Because of One Lucifer]). The analysis and interpretation focused on the category of silence inscribed in the studied text allow the author to draw conclusions about the complicated family relationships of women, marked by the twentieth-century history of Upper Silesia. In the article, the author posits a thesis about silence as an immanent trait of Dziewit-Meller’s protagonists, and asks whether they have a chance of breaking out of the circle of traumas passed down in their families.
Sedimentation in the mouth of the Magdalena river: Improving navigability in the port of Barranquilla
The city of Barranquilla can play an important role in the establishment in a multi-modal network. Currently however, issues with navigable depth in the river mouth (Bocas de Ceniza) make it difficult for the larger vessels to enter the port area. Resolving these issues will increase the navigability of the Magdalena river which in turn will help Barranquilla bloom as a port city. The aim of this research is to analyse the various sedimentation processes and to explore the possibilities for mitigation measures. In order to gain more insight into the processes which affect the sediment transport in the first 38 km of the Magdalena river a morphological model is developed using Delft3D software. However, to understand and capture the essence of the issue also the socio-political context is researched. This is done by analysing both the stakeholders and the previous unsuccessful Magdalena recovery project. The combination of both the physical and more organisational aspects formed the input to come up with multiple intervention ideas to solve navigability issues. To evaluate these interventions a multi-criteria analysis (MCA) is conducted witFh both technical and managerial criteria. Finally, also an engagement plan is constructed as a guideline to have successful stakeholder management in a future river project. From the exploration of the physical part of the issue it can be concluded that there are both natural and anthropogenic aspects which influence the river system, hence the sedimentation issue. With regard to the natural aspects, high discharge variability, stratification and wave action are selected to be further investigated with the Delft3D model. Model results show that sedimentation and erosion rates increase in the access channel above a discharge of around 5000 m3/s. For discharges below this value, the salt intrusion length increases faster than for higher discharges. This salt intrusion leads to a low flow velocity at the bottom that is directed upstream, making the reach over which salt intrudes susceptible to sedimentation. Waves mainly influence bar formation in the river mouth and are not important further upstream. The analysis of the non-physical aspects leads to a few important conclusions as well. First of all it is concluded that the stakeholder network, in which this problem exists, is a fairly complex one. Therefore stakeholder and process management are key elements in making a future river project successful. Furthermore hypotheses on the success factors of setting up a public private partnership (PPP) in Colombia are formed based on research by Koppenjan (2003), cultural differences between the Netherlands and Colombia and interviews with important stakeholders. These hypotheses are that corruption, political stability and openness for change are also important factors in setting up a successful PPP in Colombia.Possible interventions to mitigate the sedimentation issues in the first 38 km of the Magdalena river have been assessed separately for three different sections. For the first section (reaching from 0 km to 8 km), the most promising intervention resulting from the MCA is water injection dredging. This would efficiently improve the navigation conditions, capital investments are relatively low and it is also an adaptable solution. For the next section (from 8 km to 22 km), a fixed bottom layer is considered a promising intervention since it will lead to erosion of the relatively shallow inner bend and therefore increase the navigable width. As for the last section (from 22 km to 30 km) it can be concluded from the MCA that none of the assessed training works score better than the current situation.MP23

Abstract:
Acne is one of the most widely spread dermatoses in the world mainly among adolescents and young adults. Because of its problematic symptoms it is very willingly treated with diverse available drugs. Despite its popularity, there is still lack of precise information about this disease. Even though risk factors like infections or hormonal changes are said to be well known, medicine is still not certain about some of them. Diet is one of the examples. It is supposed to play a huge role in acne genesis. Considering the ease of diet modifications it is crucial to understand its participation.
