The Gospel on the Margins: The Ideological Function of the Patristic Tradition on the Evangelist Mark
In spite of the virtually unanimous patristic opinion that the evangelist Mark was the interpreter of Peter, one of the most prestigious apostolic founding figures in Christian memory, the Gospel of Mark was mostly neglected in the patristic period. Not only is the text of Mark the least well represented of the canonical Gospels in terms of the number of patristic citations, commentaries and manuscripts, the explicit comments about the evangelist Mark reveal some ambivalence about its literary or theological value. In my survey of the reception of Mark from Papias of Hierapolis until Clement of Alexandria, I will argue that the reason why the patristic writers were hesitant to embrace the Gospel of Mark was that they perceived the text to be amenable to the Christological beliefs and social praxis of rival Christian factions. The patristic tradition about Mark may have little historical basis, but it had an important ideological function in appropriating the text in the name of an apostolic authority from the margins or periphery

A briefing paper was submitted to the Women and Equalities Committee ‘Fathers and the Workplace’ inquiry by Helen Norman, Colette Fagan and Mark Elliot and has now been published. This explains the employment-related barriers to fathers sharing childcare more equally with their partners, and recommends three policy changes that would better support fathers to fulfil their caregiver roles
Coordination of groups jumping to popular music beats
Prediction of coordinated dynamic loads induced by groups and crowds of people remains one of the most significant problems faced by designers of grandstands in entertaining venues, such as stadia and concert halls. Available guidance portrays humans as deterministic robot-like force generators moving at a single frequency with either perfect synchronisation or with random phases. Humans are not robots, and natural variability and imperfect synchronisation of individuals point to a random approach for crowd loading.
This research aims to tackle this challenging topic by studying, measuring and quantifying coordination between force signals measured from 15 individuals jumping to a selection of popular pop and rock songs with different dominant beats. The results show a lack of strong synchronisation pattern between individuals in a group at all given songs and rhythms. However, there is a moderate level of synchronisation at songs with predominant beats in the range 2–3 Hz

The de-identification decision-making framework
We’ve developed a practical guide to de-identification for government agencies and businesses including not-for-profit and private sector organisations. Our framework can help data custodians to identify and address the key factors relevant to their particular data sharing or release situation, including privacy risk analysis and control, stakeholder engagement, and impact management.De-identification is not an exact science and, even using the De-Identification Decision-Making Framework (DDF), it requires complex judgement calls. The DDF is intended to help data custodians make sound decisions based on best practice, but it is not a step-by-step algorithm. We recommend that users seek expert advice on the de-identification process, particularly with the more technical risk analysis and control activities.<br/
Effect of sensory stimuli on dynamic loading induced by people bouncing
Prediction of dynamic loads induced by groups and crowds of people bouncing is a hot topic among designers of grandstands and floors in entertaining venues. Using motion capture technology transferred and adapted from biomedical research, this study aims to investigate effect of visual, auditory and tactile cues on the ability of people to coordinate or synchronise their bouncing movements in groups of two. The numerical results showed a great significance of such stimuli on people's mutual interaction during bouncing, signifying that their effect should be considered in developing much-needed models of crowd dynamic loading of structures due to coordinated rhythmic activities
Vision-based tracking of human body motion
There is a lack of reliable models of dynamic loading of civil engineering structures, such as footbridges, floors and grandstands, due to active groups and crowds of people. The key reason for this is the lack of knowledge on coordination of body motion between multiple individuals walking, running, jumping and bouncing in groups of various sizes. This paper presents a potential of the previously published video-based motion tracking method to measure kinematics of multiple individuals in groups. Unlike traditional motion tracking methods, such as maker-based optical systems, this new method is inexpensive, does not require any preparation of test subjects (e.g. attaching tracking markers) and is not constrained to artificial laboratory environment. Moreover, it provides motion data of the similar high quality
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
