Primary dystonias
Dystonia is defined as sustained muscle contractions, frequently causing twisting and repetitive movements, or abnormal postures. Classification of dystonia is based on three axes describing, for each patient, age at disease onset (early vs. adult), distribution of involved body sites (from focal to generalised), and aetiology (primary dystonia syndromes, heredodegenerative or symptomatic dystonias). Primary dystonias are further subdivided into primary pure (with dystonia only), primary plus (with other associated movement disorders) and primary paroxysmal forms (characterised by intermittent symptoms).
Dystonia encompasses a combination of movements and postures to generate sustained muscle contractions, repetitive twisting movements and abnormal postures (torsion dystonia). In dystonic movements speed of contractions may be slow or rapid, but at the peak of movement it is sustained and movements have a consistent directional or posture-assuming character. Dystonia has some unique activation/deactivation features: gestes antagonistes (or sensory tricks), mirroring, and overflow.
It has been shown that both genetic predisposition and environmental factors play a significant role in the aetiology of primary dystonia syndromes. Genetic defects are known only for a minority of cases presenting with pure dystonia (such as for DYT1 or DYT6 dystonias), by contrast, dystonia plus syndromes (dopa responsive dystonia, myoclonus dystonia and rapid onset dystonia parkinsonism) are caused by known genotypes.
There is no aetiologic or neuroprotective treatment for primary pure dystonia syndromes. Etiologic remedies are instead available for some dystonia plus syndromes of metabolic origin, such as for dopa responsive dystonia. Symptomatic treatments aim to relieve involuntary movements, correct abnormal posture, prevent contractures, reduce pain and embarrassment, and improve function. Botulinum toxin is the first choice treatment for most types of focal dystonia. Neurosurgical treatments have a growing role in the symptomatic treatment plan, because long-term electrical stimulation of the globus pallidum internum is now established as an effective treatment for primary generalised or segmental dystonias
CATALOGA: a Software for Semantic-Based Terminological Data Mining
This paper is focused on Cataloga, a software package based on Lexicon-Grammar theoretical and practical analytical framework and embedding a lingware module built on compressed terminological electronic dictionaries. We will here show how Cataloga can be used to achieve efficient data mining and information retrieval by means of lexical ontology associated to terminology-based automatic textual analysis. Also, we will show how accurate data compression is necessary to build efficient textual analysis software. Therefore, we will here discuss the creation and functioning of a software for semantic-based terminological data mining, in which a crucial role is played by Italian simple and compound-word electronic dictionaries.
Lexicon-Grammar is one of the most profitable and consistent methods for natural language formalisation and automatic textual analysis; it was set up by French linguist Maurice Gross during the ‘60s, and subsequently developed for and applied to Italian by Annibale Elia, Emilio D’Agostino and Maurizio Martinelli. Basically, Lexicon-Grammar establishes morphosyntactic and statistical sets of analytic rules to read and parse large textual corpora.
The analytical procedure here described will prove itself appropriate for any type of digitalised text, and will represent a relevant support for the building and implementing of Semantic Web (SW) interactive platforms.

Orizzonti mantovani. Spunti e dinamiche paesaggistiche ne L'Illustrissimo di Alberto Cantoni
In the literary production of Alberto Cantoni, short story writer and novelist between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the novel L'Illustrissimo is highly important both because it is the last publication of the author, from Pomponesco, a small town a few kilometers south of Mantua, both because it summarizes in a single text the different nuances and different directions that his writing has taken over the course of his literary career, also due to a writing and processing time that embraces the entire span of years of his career itself. In the foreground, in addition to the numerous and brilliant characters, one of the protagonists is the Mantuan landscape which, not a simple background, becomes a true literary parameter which in different and significant ways affects the purposes and mechanisms of the novel
Electronic Dictionaries for Information Retrieval, Automatic Textual Analysis and Semantic-Based Data Mining Software applications
Today Lexicon-Grammar (LG) remains one of the most consistent Natural Language Processing (NLP) approaches, especially for
Semantic-Based Data Mining (SBDM) and Semantic Web. Its main goal is to describe all mechanisms of word combinations closely related to the concrete use of lexical units and to sentence creation. Also, it gives an exhaustive description of lexical and syntactic structures of several languages. LG was set up by the French linguist Maurice Gross during the ‘60s, and subsequently developed for and applied to Italian by Annibale Elia, Emilio D’Agostino and Maurizio Martinelli. Its theoretical approach is prevalently based on Zelig Sabbettai Harris’ Operator-Argument Grammar, which assumes that each human language is a self-organizing system, and that the syntactic and semantic properties of a given word may be calculated on the basis of the relationships this word has with all other co-occurring words inside given sentence contexts. Simple sentences are the minimal linguistic meaning structures upon which LG founds its studies on natural language syntactic features. In the last twenty years, LG has also reached important results in the domain of automatic textual analysis and parsing with NLP-oriented software such as INTEX, UNITEX, and more recently NOOJ
