Effects of coronavirus 19 pandemic on maternal anxiety during pregnancy: a prospectic observational study
Objectives Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new respiratory disease that is spreading widely throughout the world. The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychological impact of COVID-19 pandemic on pregnant women in Italy. Methods We considered 200 pregnancies attending our antenatal clinic. A questionnaire was sent to each woman in the days of maximum spread of COVID-19. Sectional was finalized to acquire in 18 items maternal characteristics and to test the women's perception of infection. Section included the State-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) 40 items validated test for scoring trait anxiety (basal anxiety, STAI-T) and state anxiety (related to the ongoing pandemic, STAI-S). An abnormal value of STAI was considered when ≥40. Results The questionnaire was completed by 178 women (89%). Fear that COVID-19 could induce fetal structural anomalies was present in 47%, fetal growth restriction in 65% and preterm birth in 51% of the women. The median value of STAI-T was 37 and in 38.2% of the study group STAI-T score ≥40 was evidenced. STAI-S values were significantly higher with an increase of median values of 12 points (p≤0.0001). There was a positive linear correlation between STAI-T and STAI-S (Pearson=0.59; p≤0.0001). A higher educational status was associated with increased prevalence of STAI-S ≥ 40(p=0.004). Subgrouping women by the other variables considered did not show any further difference. Conclusions COVID-19 pandemic induces a doubling of the number of women who reached abnormal level of anxiety. These findings validate the role of the remote use of questionnaire for identifying women at higher risk of anxiety disorders allowing the activation of support procedures
Ancoraggio di lembi di galea aponeurotica quale ausilio alle procedure di riduzione dello scalpo
Background. This article describes an operative technique, based on the use of three galeal flaps anchoring, aimed at reducing the percentage of "stretchback" occurring after performing scalp reduction procedures. Methods. In 12 male patients undergoing a midline scalp reduction procedure, three rectangular galeal flaps, in direct continuity with the longitudinal margin of the left scalp flap, were sutured individually to the galeal undersurface of the right scalp flap to draw the two scalp flaps toward the midline of the scalp and to relieve the wound margins of closing tension. Tattoo marks were placed on the patient's scalp at the level of the vertical lines drawn through the external auditory meatuses (A1-A2) and 6 cm posteriorly (B1-B2). Results. The results were compared with those obtained from a control group of 13 male patients who underwent the same surgical procedure but without the use of the anchoring galeal flaps. Mean stretch-back at A1-A2 and B1-B2 levels was lower in the experimental group than in the control group with a statistically significant difference (p<0.005) between data from the two groups. The use of the described galeal flaps allowed us to obtain an 80.93 % and an 88.09 % stretch-back reduction at A1-A2 and B1-B2 levels, respectively, 1 month post-operatively. Conclusions. In personal opinion, our data indicate a positive cost/benefit ratio because this method optimizes the results obtainable by scalp reduction procedures and it may offer a solution to the deleterious effects of excessive tension along wound margins encountered when closing a scalp defect

Eating habits among Italian university students
Background
A sufficient consumption of fruit and vegetables has proven to
have an important protective effect towards different diseases
and mortality. Nevertheless, some studies reported insufficient
daily consumption of fruit and vegetables. Aim of the study is
to analyse breakfast consumption, regularity of meals, and fruit
and vegetable consumption in the Italian University Student
population.
Methods
The study evaluates data taken from the ‘‘Sportello Salute
Giovani’’ questionnaire, based on the ‘‘Health Behaviour in
School-aged Children’’ (HBSC) questionnaire. The data
regarding age, sex, BMI, number of breakfasts consumed per
week, number of eating episodes per day, number of portions
of vegetables consumed, number of portions of fruit
consumed, intended weight loss, self-reported economic
status was analyzed.
A descriptive analysis was conducted. Gender and age
differences are tested by Chi2 test and Mann-Whitney test.
162 European Journal of Public Health, Vol. 25, Supplement 3, 2015
Logistic regression analyses were used to study the association
between eating episodes and fruit and vegetable consumption.
Results
8.292 questionnaires were analyzed. 67% of responders were
female and 33% were male. Results show that only 15,8% of
males and 26,3% of the females declared to consume at least
one portion of fruit every day (p < 0.01) and similar results
were found for vegetable consumption. Age does not influence
fruit or vegetables consumption, frequency of eating episodes
or breakfast habit. Both a regular breakfast and a higher
number of eating episodes are significantly associated with a
higher frequency of fruit intake (OR = 2.19 and 1.83,
respectively) and a higher frequency of vegetables intake
(OR = 2.08 and 1.69, respectively).
Conclusions
This study underlines the need to promote nutritional
education campaigns to increase adherence to nutritional
guidelines. Promoting the consumption of breakfast and of
the recommended 5 daily eating episodes may prove to be
useful in obtaining a greater consumption of fruit and
vegetables.
Key message
It is necessary to create practical strategies in universities
that can facilitate the regularity of breakfast, frequent food
intake, and fruit and vegetable consumptio
Women perception of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination during pregnancy and subsequent maternal anxiety: a prospective observational study
Objective: The use of Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine in pregnant women is controversial and still not performed in Italy. Our objective was to evaluate the propensity of a population of Italian women to receive the vaccine and its psychological impact. Methods: A prospective, observational study was performed on pregnant women attending Ospedale Cristo Re Università Roma TorVergata. A multi-section questionnaire was sent to each included woman on the first day of available SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. Part-A was finalized to acquire maternal characteristics and to test the women’s perception of vaccinations in pregnancy and their fear-induced by vaccines. Part-B included the State-Trait-Anxiety-Inventory (STAI) a validated test for scoring trait anxiety (basal anxiety, STAI-T) and state anxiety (STAI-S). An abnormal value of STAI was considered when ≥40. Comparisons of maternal variables were performed according to their vaccine attitude. Results: The questionnaire was completed by 161 women (80.5% of the population considered). A positive attitude toward the vaccine was present in 136 (84.5%) women (positive) while the remaining 25.5% considered the vaccine not useful (negative). Among the former group 52.9% were favorable to obtain the vaccine during pregnancy despite the current national limitations, a percentage significantly higher (p =.02) than in the negative groups. Women with a negative attitude to the vaccine had a lower educational (p =.002) and employment level (p =.016) when compared to the positive group. In all the women a significant increase of STAI-S from STAI-T values was evidenced (
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
