THE INFLUENCE OF SECRETOME THERAPY ON ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION AND D-DIMER LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS
Introduction: The study aimed to determine the therapeutic effect of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived secretome on erectile function and D-dimer level, a biomarker for vascular health in T2DM men. Methods: An RCT performed on men aged 40 to 70 years with both T2DM and ED. The subjects were randomly allocated to receive secretome or placebo. Erectile function was measured by the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) questionnaire. They also had D-dimer levels measured before and after the intervention (ie, at 12 weeks). The primary analysis investigated differences in change of IIEF scores and D-dimer levels between groups using statistical tests. Moreover, we calculated a Pearson correlation coefficient to examine the relationship of both outcomes. Results: IIEF scores in the treatment group rose a mean of 3.06 points, compared to only half that amount with an increase of 0.5 points observed for control groups (p This difference was significant according to t-test (t = 6.72, p = 1.92e-07). The treatment group also experienced a more substantial decrease in D-dimer levels (-0.32 µg/mL on average) compared with the control group (an average change of -0.09 ug/ml), with a t-test statistic being-6.41(p = 4.44e−07). A minimal and not statistically significant correlation was also observed between improvements in IIEF scores with changes D-dimer levels (correlation coefficient: -0.11, p = 0.69).Conclusion : secretome therapy has demonstrated a significant increase in erectile function and reduction of D-dimer levels among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Hubungan Grading Histopatologi pada Karsinoma Penis dengan Tampilanimunohistokimia Her-2
The incindence of penile carcinoma all over the world is 1/100.000 per
population. 95% overall penile cancer is squamous cell carcinoma, the rest are
melanoma, leiomyosarcoma or other types. This disease most commonly found in
elderly, the incidence number increased after 80 years old. Phimosis, chronic
inflamation, ultraviolet radiation, history of papiloma warts (Human Papilloma Virus
infection/HPV) , or condyloma and uncircumcised are some risk factors of penile
carcinoma On the research perform by Silva et al (2012), discovered strong cytoplasm
staining by HER-2 of 28 cases penile carcinomas (14,9%). This fact is contradicted
with previous research performed by Stankiewicz et al (2011), that stated HER-2 does
not related to penile carcinogenesis. In this research we seek any correlations
between histopathological grading of penile carcinomawith expression of HER-2 of
penile carcinoma lesions by performing HER-2 immunohistochemistry examination of
paraffin block samples of penile tissues. Objective : toseek thecorrelations between histopathological grading of penile
carcinoma withthe expressionof immunohistochemistry HER-2 of penile carcinomas
that had been diagnosed histopatologically in Instalasi Patologi Anatomi Rumah Sakit
Haji Adam Malik Medan 2008 – 2012.
Methods : The research design is using analitic descriptive with cross sectional
approach. In this research we do not give any treatment on variables only to observe
the immunohistochemistry expression of HER-2. The measurement on variables is
only one time and on one moment.
Results : On Spearman’s correlation test, the significant relation between
histopatological grading of penile carcinoma and HER-2expressionwere not found.(p>
0.05).Latar Belakang : Insidensi karsinoma penis di seluruh dunia sekitar 1/100.000
populasi.
pendekatan cross sectional. Pada penelitian ini tidak memberikan perlakuan terhadap
variabel tetapi hanya melihat ekspresi imunohistokimia HER2.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
Umbilical Cord MSC-Secretome Therapy Enhances Erectile Function in Elderly Men
Background: Reduced erectile capacity often appears as part of physiological shifts during aging potentially implicating broader physiological or social realms. These declines originate from intricate underlying conditions: endothelial dysfunction, unstable hormonal patterns, compromised vascular structures, oxidative stress escalations, and inflammatory cascades. Recently, attention has drifted towards secretome derived from umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSC)—an eclectic blend of cytokines, extracellular vesicles, and growth factors—suggesting foundational regenerative qualities surpassing conventional symptomatic therapies, like phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (PDE-5i).
Methods: In this study, ederly male participants (n=64, aged ≥60) diagnosed with erectile dysfunction (ED) received intracavernosal UCMSC-secretome injections every two weeks for three sessions. No control group was included; efficacy was tracked through pre- and post-intervention evaluations using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5).
Results: A statistically notable improvement emerged—average IIEF-5 scores increasing by about 5.49 points (p<0.001; Cohen’s d=1.99). With the satisfaction averaging approximately 8.03/10.
Conclusion: Extensive, randomized controlled trials could more conclusively elucidate the genuine potential of secretome interventions
