Des Féminismes Du Sud Dans \u3cem\u3eBilqiss\u3c/em\u3e De Saphia Azzeddine
In the current social climate of an increasingly normalized Islamophobia, representations of Islam and Muslim women are as problematic as ever. This is partly due to the risk run by any cultural production dealing with the patriarchy and women\u27s oppression in the Arab-muslim world of being instrumentalized. Accordingly, any such production must be considered alongside questions of its intended consumption or its possible complicity with the dominant order. With this in mind, the article examines Saphia Azzeddine\u27s last novel, Bilqiss. It analyzes the literary strategies the author deploys in order to counter expectations about Muslim women from Western readers, and in particular readers from the Hexagon. We contend that Azzeddine\u27s refutation of her characters\u27 positions, which are often extreme to the point of caricature, allows her to develop a conversation around the so-called contemporary confrontations between East and West, forcing her readers to move beyond the sensationalized representations and the problematic interest Islam continues to generate in the West
Dramatic Semiotics in Azzeddine Mihoubi’s The Rose and the Swordfish
The drama program in the theatrical text is based on a set of dramatic transformations according to a specific timeframe and place where the author tries to embody that program through an imaginary space accompanied by a parallel text explaining the situations in which the dramatic actions take place. Also in that program, the author describes the situations of the active selves based on moving the dramatic act and transforming it from one path to another in a process called, in the semiotic term, “dramatic Transformations.” On this basis, the dramatic self is the focus of the theatrical text, and the dramatic act is originally based on the presence of the dramatic self, by defining its relationship to the subject of value embodied in the theatrical text, whether the active self is relevant or separate from it. The active self becomes dominant in the dramatic path in the play, whether negative or positive. Accordingly, our study in this work was directed at following up the selves of the dramatic action (act) in the play El-warda wa Essiaf (The Rose and the Swordsman) by Azzeddine Mihoubi. We follow the semiotic approach, especially in relation to the semiotics of the act , to reveal the drama programs in the theatrical text and its various paths that appear at the superficial level in the form of conflicts represented in the the active selves. In doing so, we will determine the types of selves, depending on the roles assigned to them by the author, whether it is related to the way in which these selves see the dramatic acts, or through the actions they (the selves) do, which influence the dramatic trajectory
This article examines the strategies employed by the Quebec government with respect to anti-racism work. These strategies are based on the hypothesis that racism is simply a barrier to the integration of visible minorities in the host society. This eclipses the underlying social problems associated with racism. As a result, the author argues that governmental action in this domain remains of limited reach. The tools at the state’s disposal target individual manifestations of racism, rather than the real problem : institutional racism. The author claims that an open debate is needed to better focus the actions of the state for addressing this problem. State intervention must account for historical, as well as political and economic factors that explain racism ; it must also take into account the effects of international conflicts on community relations in Quebec
BMO estimates near the boundary for solutions of elliptic systems
In this paper we show that the scale of Sobolev-Campanato spaces Lp,λ,s contain the general BMO-Triebel-Lizorkin spaces Fs∞,p as special cases, so that the conjecture by Triebel regarding estimates for solutions of scalar regular elliptic boundary value problems in Fs∞,p spaces (solved in the case p = 2 in a previous work) is completely solved now. Also we prove that the method used for the scalar case works for systems, and we give a priori estimates near the boundary for solutions of regular elliptic systems in the general spaces Lp,λ,s containing BMO, Fs∞,p, and Morrey-Campanato spaces L2,λ as special cases. This result extends the work by the author in the scalar case.Mathematic

Testing for Oligopoly and Oligopsony Power
This paper extends the conjectural approach in industrial organization to the analysis of imperfections in output and factor markets simultaneously. Starting from the specification of a production function, the econometric analysis is based on the formulation and estimation of a simultaneous equation model consisting of a production function, first order conditions associated with factor employment, and two conjectural elasticities to parametrize the industry's oligopoly and oligopsony equilibria. As an example, we provide an application to the U.S. meat packing industry. Our results suggest that the industry excercised market power in both the output (meat) market and the factor (live animals) market.Industrial Organization,
Testing for signals on oligopolistic behaviour – case of Finnish and German pork meat price
Market integration of Finland toward EU has important implication to domestic agricultural policy. Our aim is to estimate the characteristics of the Finnish pork markets in relation to Germany. Our analysis use symmetric and asymmetric threshold error correction models. Pork prices are found cointegrated, and cointegration relationship of two counties is found asymmetric. A large positive shock in Germany is transmitted faster to Finland than a large negative one. It implies that a combination of cooperative processors and public quoted companies as in Finland, can smooth out some of the short term price fluctuations observed abroad.cointegration, asymmetric, error correction, Agricultural and Food Policy, Marketing,
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors: epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic profile in Marrakech University Hospital
Stromal tumors or GIST (gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumors) are rare (1-3% of gastro-intestinal malignancies). They are a subject of controversy. We report a retrospective study of 17 cases of gastrointestinal stromal tumors confirmed histologically and immuno-histochemically, collected at the University Hospital Mohammed VI. The average age of patients was 59 years, (29-80 years). The symptoms were abdominal pain in most cases (49%), abdominal mass found in 35% of our patients and hepatomegaly in 2 cases. There were 6 cases of gastric tumors, 4 cases of mesenteric tumors, 4 cases of jejunal tumors, and 3 cases of rectal tumors. Fifteen patients were treated with complete surgical resection. A histological marker expression C KIT was present in 100% of cases. In 13 cases tumors were localized, 2 patients had locally advanced tumors immediately and 2 others had liver metastases at diagnosis. Medication with Imatinib was initiated in the tumors classified high-grade malignancy in 6 cases in adjuvant and neoadjuvant in 2 cases. On a mean of 3 years, the 3-year survival was 88% and we had 8 cases of complete remission, 3 cases of partial remission, 2 cases of tumor recurrence and 2 deaths
Restructuring's Effect on Related and Unrelated Diversification Among Top Food Manufacturing Firms in the 1980s
Corporate restructuring during the 1980s is argued to have focused on improving firm performance by increasing related and decreasing unrelated diversification. The restructuring patterns of top food manufacturing firms do not support this; instead, much of the restructuring appears to have been driven by the pursuit of stronger market positions. Motives for Mergers in Food Manufacturing
This paper reviews theories that identify motives for mergers, reviews recent empirical research, specifies a model that incorporates alternative motives, and tests the model with data from food manufacturing mergers between 1979 and 1986. Results suggest that capital markets are not efficient, and that mergers are not to redress agency problems. Acquirers paid higher premiums for target firms that have recently had low profitability, and paid higher premiums when the stock market was low. The model explains at best 30 percent of the variation in premiums, suggesting that major explanations for mergers remain as yet unidentified.Agribusiness, Industrial Organization,
