    Judging by the numbers of newspaper reviews, biographies (including autobiographies) are amongst the most common literary works published these days. However, it is uncommon to find one book that combines a biography and an autobiography, as this book, Nature, Nurture and Chance: The Lives of Frank and Charles Fenner, does. As the author, Frank Fenner, sees it, ‘nature’ means the combination of genes that we inherit from our parents; ‘nurture’ means the way that our physical and social environment, especially during childhood, influence our mental and emotional characteristics; and chance is defined as ‘the way things fall out’. These three elements define the careers of all human beings. The author uses them to compare his father’s life and his own

Curran, the United States Supreme Court held that there is an implied private right of action under the Commodity Exchange Act, as amended. As a result of this holding, a private party may maintain an action for damages caused by a violation of the Commodity Exchange Act. In this article, the author examines the Supreme Court\u27s analysis and explores the future impact of the decision in light of the role the judiciary has in legislative matters

    A preliminary list of coral species of the National Park of American Samoa

    Reports were scanned in black and white at a resolution of 600 dots per inch and were converted to text using Adobe Paper Capture Plug-in.This is a list of 227 coral species recorded in the National Park of American Samoa based primarily on a series of photo images by the principal author and identified by Charles Birkeland and Douglas Fenner. Of the 227 species (five identified only to genus) 108 are documented by the photos and 123 are listed based upon the surveys and transects by Birkeland, Coles, Craig, Fisk, Hunter, Maragos and/or Mundt. This report forms a basis for certifying a list of corals in the National Park of American Samoa for inclusion in the National Park Service’s on-line park biota inventory database (NPSpecies) of the U.S. national parks
