Art therapy for people with intellectual disabilities and emotional behavioral disorders
Intellectual disabilities (ID) are disorders characterised by under-average intellectual functioning and reduced adaptive functions. ID are affecting individual perceptions, ways of thinking, interactions, emotions and behaviour. According to a level of deficit persons with ID are categorised at mild, moderate, severe and profound intellectual disability. People with ID can be included in personalised or special education programs. Most people with ID have no access to the labour market and are involved in various work activities within the centres. They receive a symbolic payment for their work. They live with their parents or in special homes for people with ID, accommodation units, housing communities, or in homes for the elderly. Emotional and behavioural disorders often occur in people with ID. Emotional and behavioural disorders (EBD) are characterised by aggressive, auto-aggressive and delinquent behaviour. The occurrence of EBD is influenced by various biological, ecological, social and personality factors.
Arts therapies, as a subtype of art therapy, turned out to be useful in dealing with people with ID associated with EBD. The goal of arts therapies is to improve the quality of people's lives, which includes many areas of life for an individual. For people with ID, it is particularly effective, because it offers communication along the other path and offers the possibility of developing its own identity through the development of the painting style. Arts therapies is characterised by the triangular relationship which includes a participant, an art product, and a therapist. Their mutual relationship is significant. Arts therapies has certain phases and structure of therapeutic meetings. It can be individually, collectively or combined. Different art therapy techniques and activities are used according to the participant's characteristics and goals that we want to achieve. Knowing and adapting art materials is essential, primarily when working with people with ID. It is crucial to know the development of artistic expression and the specificity of the development of artistic expression in persons with ID.
In the empirical part, we used three case studies to determine the impact of arts therapies in the treatment of people with ID associated with EBD. The influence of arts therapies was observed in the areas of self-image, autonomy, self-initiative and perseverance, communication, social interaction and specific behavioural areas specific to individual EBD. In the study were involved three people with moderate ID associated with mild EBD, with between 18 and 37 years of age. In determining the initial and final condition, we used the standardized Adaptive Behavior Scale form The American Association for Mental Deficiency (AAMD) (Igrić in Fulgosi-Masnjak, 1991) and questionnaire customised by 'Evaluation List of Aid with Art' (Evalvacijski list Pomoči z umetnostjo) from the author E. Bizjak (2007). The scales and the questionnaires were filled by a professional who personally knows participants. The research showed that arts therapies has positive effects on participants, especially in the areas of challenging behaviour, autonomy and self-image. Arts therapies also had a positive impact on the areas of self-initiative and perseverance, social relations and communication. It has been concluded that for significant changes in this population, it would be necessary to carry out arts therapies for a more extended period, at least two years or more
Sculptor Oscar Nemon’s Medal Works During his Brussels Period
Rad se bavi medaljerskom dionicom u opusu kipara Oscara Nemona (1906. – 1985.) tijekom umjetnikova djelovanja u Bruxellesu u razdoblju od 1925. do 1936. godine. Razmatraju se tipološke, tehničke
te stilsko-morfološke odlike Nemonovih medalja. Analizira se i vrednuje doprinos Oscara Nemona belgijskom modernom medaljerstvu u razdoblju između dvaju svjetskih ratova te se zaključuje kako je Nemon obogatio belgijsku likovnu scenu inovativnim i smjelim modernističkim rješenjima u art déco stilu koja počivaju na geometrijskoj stilizaciji forme.The work deals with the medal works of sculptor Oscar Nemon (1906–1985) during the artist’s residence in Brussels from 1925 to 1936. Typology, technic, style and morphology of the medals are taken into consideration. The contribution of Oscar Nemon to Belgian modern medal making in the period between the two world wars is analyzed and evaluated. Author concludes that Nemon enriched the Belgian art scene with innovative and bold modernist Art Déco-style solutions based on geometric stylization of the form

Danica Pinterović i Josip Leović
The paper presents various forms of cooperation and professional work of Danica Pinterović related to Osijek artist and restorer Josip Leović. This cooperation existed primarily in the period of Leović’s work at the Museum of Slavonia from 1947 to 1963 and included the museum and professional-publicist work of Danica Pinterović. Even though we have to take into account Danica Pinterović’s published texts about Josip Leović, the primary interest of this study are the unpublished and the unknown records by Danica Pinterović, those from her work diaries, which are today seen as archival material and have its signifi cance. The Work Diary, kept by Danica Pinterović who took note of everyday work and work tasks of all Museum employees, is in a sense also a diary of Josip Leović’s work. Thus, it is an important resource for Leović’s work biography, but also for the history of restoration works performed by Josip Leović on certain artwork displayed in the Museum of Slavonia and Museum of Fine Arts. Using the information from the Work Diaries by Danica Pinterović, the author chronologically lists and cites the records of Leović’s museum activities, as recorded by the diary writer.
The first significant expert contributions about the life and work of Josip Leović, important to become familiarized with artist’s biography and his opus, were presented by Danica Pinterović. She was the one who actually introduces Josip Leović in professional literature and thus established later historical and artistic considerations of Leović’s opus. She wrote and published several professional articles on Leović’s artistic and restorative work, including a summarized biography. She also wrote about one of Leović’s biggest exhibitions for daily newspaper and, in the end, wrote an expert review of Leović’s opus on the occasion of his death

Ovaj završni rad istražuje život i umjetničku karijeru Oscar Nemona, kipara rođenog 1906. godine u Osijeku, s posebnim naglaskom na razdoblje od 1924. do izbijanja Drugog svjetskog rata. Nemon je postigao uspjeh na društvenoj i umjetničkoj sceni zahvaljujući svojim talentima i umreženosti s visokim društvenim krugovima, uključujući filozofe poput Sigmunda Freuda i Sandora Ferenczija, pripadnike kraljevske obitelji poput Karađorđevića i engleske kraljice Marije. Njegov iznimni talent omogućio mu je brzi uspon na briselskoj Akademiji, gdje je postao najboljim kiparom u svega četiri mjeseca. Susreti s ljudima kao što su Simone Hottet i dr. Paul Federn, koji je potaknuo izradu Freudove biste, povezali su ga s visokim društvenim krugovima u Beču, Parizu i Engleskoj. Nemon je izradio neka značajna umjetnička djela, na primjer rad na Praksitelovoj Knidskoj Afroditi i skulpturu Sigmunda Freuda, koja je privukla pažnju javnosti u Jugoslaviji 1936. godine. Pisma koja su analizirana daju uvid u Nemonov intimni život, njegovu obiteljsku dinamiku te odnos s prijateljima i poznanicima. Nemonova majka, koja mu je često pisala, bila je brižna te ga u većini situacija u kojima se našao i financijski uzdržavala. Iz pisama se također može zaključiti da je bio puno bliži sa sestrom nego s bratom, no moguće je da informacije o njihovu odnosu nedostaju. Unatoč ograničenjima analize zbog nedostatka odgovora na pisma i nedostupne literature o nekim spomenutim imenima, ovaj rad doprinosi razumijevanju Nemonove umjetničke biografije i njegove veze s portretiranjem Sigmunda Freuda. Radom se pokušava uspostaviti bolje razumijevanje i priznanje Nemonova umjetničkog doprinosa u umjetnosti 20. stoljeća

This paper explores Oscar Nemon’s Center of Universal Ethics project, a visionary but unrealized endeavor within his utopian movement advocating for universal ethics. Drawing heavily from interwar modernist and avant-garde architecture, particularly Russian constructivism, the design resonates with Konstantin Melnikov’s architectural oeuvre. Ovaj je završni rad preglednoga tipa. Dotiče se povijesnih i kulturno-umjetničkih strujanja Hrvatske općenito, a konkretno grada Osijeka u 19. i 20. stoljeću. Donesen je pregled osječke sakralne arhitekture 19. i 20. stoljeća na konkretnim primjerima. Radi se o većinski historicističkim građevinama, zatim o neobaroknim te neogotičkim u 19. stoljeću i na samom kraju modernim stilovima u gradnji 20. stoljeća
Symbolist Painting in Osijek
Simbolizam kao umjetnički pravac javlja se u drugoj polovici 19. stoljeća. Simbolisti izražavaju svoje nezadovoljstvo modernim dobom pomoću mističnih i fantazmagoričnih prikaza motiva iz antičke i klasične književnosti. Simbolizam u Hrvatskoj javlja se simultano kada i u ostatku Europe. U Osijeku pronalazimo četiri značajnija umjetnika ovog pravca; Josipa Leovića, Dragana Melkusa, Sigmunda Landsingera i Petra Orlića. Iako ne toliko reprezentativan, uzorak je dovoljan kako bi uvidjeli pojavnost simbolizma na osječkoj umjetničkoj sceni početkom 20. stoljeća. Važno je spomenuti da je najveću ulogu u razvitku osječkog simbolizma imao Bela Čikoš Sesija koji svoje uzore pronalazi u nekim od najznačajnijih europskih simbolističkih umjetnika, Franzu von Stucku i Gustavu Klimtu. Čikoš mlade osječke umjetnike upoznaje s bečkim simbolizmom i secesijom. Pod utjecajem bečkog simbolizma umjetnici se koriste klasičnim i mitološkim literarnim izvorima, te vlastitim viđenjima s ciljem izražavanja emocija, unutarnjih stanja i različitih imaginarnih prizora
