The impact of immigration on the U.S. labour market: evidence from 9/11 event
M.Phil.In this paper, we examine the effect of 9/11 on the labour market outcomes of natives and migrants in the United States. We first demonstrate that the immigrant flow and stock after 9/11 had slowed down. With this exogenous immigrant shock, we conduct difference-in-difference (DID) analysis to analyse the effect of immigrant flow on the local labour market. Treatment states/metropolitan areas are defined as those above the median immigrant-native ratio. The standard DID analysis finds that immigrant flow has a positive effect on the unemployment rate and a negative effect on the working hours of natives; also, the flow has a negative effect on the working hours of previous immigrants. Yet, most of these results become insignificant when we use the propensity score matching, and the only negative significant results left is working hours on previous immigrants. Chan, Aric Edbert.Thesis M.Phil. Pertanggungjawaban Hukum Terhadap Kebocoran Data Pribadi pada Perusahaan Pengelola Jasa Keuangan Berbasis IT
The increasingly widespread problem of personal data leakage in Indonesia has become a concern for many parties, considering that protecting personal data is one of the human rights that must be protected. One sector that is vulnerable to being targeted by hackers is the financial technology sector or often called fintech. In 2020, a cyber attack occurred which caused a fintech platform called Cermati to experience a data leak which resulted in the leaking of 2.9 million users\u27 data. This of course raises questions about how accountable the organizers are for this event. For this problem, the author will analyze in more depth using normative juridical methods regarding the form of accountability for the Cermati organizing body. The research results show that in fact Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions, Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection, Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector, and Financial Services Authority Regulation Number 10/POJK.05/ 2022 of 2022 concerning Information Technology-Based Joint Funding Services has provided an accountability mechanism for personal data controllers, namely PT. Dwi Cermat Indonesia, where customers who experience losses can file civil lawsuits for material and non-material losses, as well as apply for administrative sanctions to PT. Dwi Cermat Indonesia due to the lack of complete and in-depth notification regarding the leak case that occurred. Apart from that, there needs to be direct education by other fintech organizing bodies to customers to prevent personal data leaks

BackgroundHospital-based providers' willingness to report to work during an influenza pandemic is a critical yet under-studied phenomenon. Witte's Extended Parallel Process Model (EPPM) has been shown to be useful for understanding adaptive behavior of public health workers to an unknown risk, and thus offers a framework for examining scenario-specific willingness to respond among hospital staff.MethodsWe administered an anonymous online EPPM-based survey about attitudes/beliefs toward emergency response, to all 18,612 employees of the Johns Hopkins Hospital from January to March 2009. Surveys were completed by 3426 employees (18.4%), approximately one third of whom were health professionals.ResultsDemographic and professional distribution of respondents was similar to all hospital staff. Overall, more than one-in-four (28%) hospital workers indicated they were not willing to respond to an influenza pandemic scenario if asked but not required to do so. Only an additional 10% were willing if required. One-third (32%) of participants reported they would be unwilling to respond in the event of a more severe pandemic influenza scenario. These response rates were consistent across different departments, and were one-third lower among nurses as compared with physicians. Respondents who were hesitant to agree to work additional hours when required were 17 times less likely to respond during a pandemic if asked. Sixty percent of the workers perceived their peers as likely to report to work in such an emergency, and were ten times more likely than others to do so themselves. Hospital employees with a perception of high efficacy had 5.8 times higher declared rates of willingness to respond to an influenza pandemic.ConclusionsSignificant gaps exist in hospital workers' willingness to respond, and the EPPM is a useful framework to assess these gaps. Several attitudinal indicators can help to identify hospital employees unlikely to respond. The findings point to certain hospital-based communication and training strategies to boost employees' response willingness, including promoting pre-event plans for home-based dependents; ensuring adequate supplies of personal protective equipment, vaccines and antiviral drugs for all hospital employees; and establishing a subjective norm of awareness and preparedness.20101P01TP00288-01/TP/OPHPR CDC HHS/United StatesU90TP324236/TP/OPHPR CDC HHS/United States20659340PMC29185591057

Comparative analysis of stromal inflammatory cell infiltration and HPV infection status in cervical dysplasia and squamous cell carcinoma using the Klintrup-Mäkinen Scoring method
HIGHLIGHTS
• KM score is a reliable method to help determine the diagnosis of cervical dysplasia and squamous cell carcinoma.
• KM score cannot be used to differentiate infection status in cervical dysplasia and squamous cell carcinoma.
ABSTRACT
Objective: Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy in women, with 604,127 new cases reported globally in 2020. Persistent high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the primary cause. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between stromal inflammatory cell infiltration using the Klintrup-Mäkinen (KM) score and HPV infection status in cervical dysplasia and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using secondary data from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) cervical tissue samples diagnosed as dysplasia or SCC at Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia from 2014 to 2022. HPV status was determined using PCR-based assays, while stromal inflammatory cell infiltration was assessed microscopically at 100× magnification and graded according to the KM scoring system by two blinded observers. Statistical analyses, including Chi-square and Spearman’s correlation tests, were performed using STATA/IC 15, with p < 0.05 considered significant.
Results: A total of 38 samples were analyzed, comprising 20 (52.63%) cases of dysplasia and 18 (47.37%) cases of SCC. HPV positivity was identified in 70% of dysplasia and 94.44% of SCC cases. KM scores of 2/3, indicating moderate to severe inflammatory infiltration, were significantly more frequent in SCC (77.78%) compared to dysplasia (20%), showing a strong association with pathological diagnosis (p = 0.0019). However, no significant correlation was observed between KM score and HPV status in either lesion type.
Conclusion: The KM scoring method provides a reliable and cost-effective approach for assessing stromal inflammatory cell infiltration in cervical lesions, aiding histopathological diagnosis, although it does not predict HPV infection status
First finding of Ciprofloxacin Resistant Campylobacter jejuni Bacteremia from an infant with biliary atresia in Surabaya, Indonesia
Here we present a case of an infant with biliary atresia with bacteremia caused by Ciprofloxacin resistant C.
jejuni. An eight-month-old boy - previously diagnosed with inoperable biliary atresia, was referred with fever.
The isolated bacteria was identified as Campylobacter jejuni ssp. jejuni. This isolate was resistant to
Ciprofloxacin using disk diffusion. From our investigation during the patient's home visit, there were several
chicken and bird coops within 20 meters radius all around the patient's house, contributing to the risk of
infection. In this case, a severe infection of Campylobacter jejuni might be promoted by biliary atresia and
hepatic failure
