O — Emmanuelle — Catherine M. Three female voices on sex In the article the author analyses three literary texts — French erotic novels translated into Polish, which were written by women. They encompass: Pauline Reage’s Histoire d’O, Emmanuelle Arsan’s Emmanuelle, and the autobiography of Catherine Millet Sex Life of Catherine M. These novels represent three styles of talking about sex; namely, silence — d’O erotic metaphor, picturesequeness — Emmanuelle and talking directly — Catherine M. The authors named the sexual act and the parts of body connected with it drawing abundantly from the general repertoire of sexualisms and choosing consistently according to their life philosophy. Thus, they created their personal way of talking about sex. In the analysed instances sexual idiolect as “a code of an individual speaker” reveals the philosophy of life of the conspicuous, female characters.O — Emmanuelle — Catherine M. Variability in intermediate water circulation of the western Tyrrhenian margin (NE Corsica) over the past 56 kyr
The Marion Dufrene core MD01-2472 made of hemipelagic fine-grained sediments (silt and clays) was collected
at 501 m depth on the East Corsica continental slope in 2001 and studied in detail in its 12 uppermost meters.
The correlation between sedimentological parameters (Sortable Silt), isotopic data and 14C dating allowed to
establish the chronology of main climate events (Younger Dryas/YD, Bölling-Alleröd/B-A, Heinrich events/HS)
on this record and to evaluate the impact of major climate oscillations on bottom water condition variability.
The sea temperature changes are identified thanks to the planktonic foraminifera assemblages. HS are marked
by planktonic foraminifers with peaks of the polar species N. pachyderma (left-coiling), whilst interstadials are
marked by warm planktonics that become very abundant during the B-A and Holocene.
The occurrence of reworked ostracod species (originating from the continental shelf) and the presence of shallow
water Elphidium/Ammonia benthic foraminifera are used to estimate the degree of along-slope transport at the
core site. This has revealed two intervals of along-slope transport also associated with coarse-grained contourites,
deposited during the YD and HS2 episodes.
Intervals with Krithe spp. (ostracod), C. wuellerstorfi (benthic foraminifera) indicate bottom water oxygenation
during stadials, whereas interstadials are typified by A. acuminata and Paracypris sp (ostracods) indicating low
oxygenated environments. The Last Glacial Maximum is dominated by the planktonic foraminifer T. quinqueloba
suggesting high surface primary productivity associated with the establishment of mestrophic bottom conditions.
During the Holocene, benthic assemblages indicate oligo-mesotrophic conditions and weak hydrodynamic bottom
regime.
We hypothesize that there is relationship between the Levantine Intermediate Water (LIW) intensification during
cold rapid climate events and benthic fauna assemblages due to changes in: 1) bottom water ventilation, corresponding
to a significant reinforcement of the LIW velocity, and 2) the export of nutrients (generating changes in
trophic conditions) and/or sediment particles by bottom currents (contributing to the formation of contourites)

Sedimentary process along a modern carbonate slope from shelf to abyssal plain : Northern Little Bahama Bank slope, Bahamas
Over the past decade, the Little Bahamas Bank (LBB) in the Caribbean has been at the heart of oceanographic cruises Carambar (2010), Caramba 1.5 (2014) and Carambar 2 (2016-2017). These scientific expeditions were carried out with the aim of improving our knowledge of the processes tha controlled sediment export during the Quaternary in this tropical setting. Thus, bathymetric datacovering some 24,270 km² of seabed, high-resolution seismic lines running over 6,398 km and 42sediment cores ranging from 177 to 4,873 m water depth were collected in the upper slope through tothe abyssal plane of the LBB system. This study focusses on those sediment cores retrieved in the upper (Carambar 1.5) and lower slope ofthe LBB and those from the Great Canyon (Carambar 2) which is connected to the abyssal plane. These results are complementary to previous studies led on the middle and lower northern slope of the LBB (Tournadour, 2015; Chabaud, 2016).A highstand accretion wedge, currently dated to the Holocene, expands at water depths of 177-360 m. Sediment deposition in the prism is mainly the result of hurricanes and density cascading. Its initiation is dated at 13. 6 ± 3.5 ka cal BP, following Meltwater Pulse 1A. Melwater Pulses led to the formationof shallow terraces that enhanced carbonate production and ultimately supplied the prism with sediment through the export of said carbonate. The height of the development of the prism occurred at 6.56 ± 0.9ka cal BP when the sea level reached the shelf-break.Sedimentation in the lower slope is indicative of more pelagic processes, since currents play a greater part in the deposition of sediment than the shelf. Variability in the facies of theses deposits are thus the result of climatic variations (e.g strengthening of currents, influxes of Arctic water). Sediments in this are a share similarities with those in Blake Outer Ridge, 400 km north of the LLB. At water depth of1,300-4,800 m, the slope is scored by a giant canyon, namely the Great Abaco. The morphology of this canyon attests to a structural control of sediment supply: rather than the head of the canyon, tributaries appear to supply the majority of sediment within this system
Quaternary stratigraphic model and sedimentary processes along two carbonate slopes in the Bahamas (leeward and windward)
This study proposes a reconstruction of the quaternary sedimentary history of two Bahamian slopes (leeward and windward). This work is based on the stratigraphicand sedimentary analysis of 34 marine cores recovered mainly from the CARAMBAR oceanographic cruse (2010). A high-resolution stratigraphic study was conducted by coupling several tools including ecostratigraphy based on planktonic foraminifera assemblages, which allowed dating all sedimentary sequences despite early diagenesis processes. The sedimentary analysis of the marine cores proposes a new classification for carbonate sediment. It characterizes the dominant particle distributions at the time of deposition and allows for discriminating the fine sediments and for determining the depositional processes such as off-bank transport, contouritic or gravity deposits, and slightly altered sediment. Off-bank transport is the mainprocess responsible for high-accumulation of platform carbonate ooze (aragonite needles and silt) on the Bahamian slopes. It predominates during major flooding of the platform, so during the last 4 ka cal BP, the MIS 5e and at the on set of the MIS11. Intra-slope erosion, bottom currents, and early marine diagenesis processes have also been highlighted. The leeward slope is characterized by a high accumulation of wackestone sediment where as the windward slope preserved its Pliocene morphology with local quaternary sediment accumulation (wackestone to packstone)

Composition of A Cold-Water Coral Mound "Matterhorn" and Its Surrounding Sediments in The Straits of Florida
The Carambar scientific cruise along western Great Bahama Bank (GBB) and north of Little Bahama Bank has documented the abundance and rich diversity of cold-water coral mounds in the Florida-Bahamas region. During the cruise, two cores were taken in the area where Correa et al. (2012a) identified the largest mound (the Matterhorn) at GBB site 3 west of Bimini. By analyzing the cores, the nature of the cold-water coral mounds and their surrounding area are studied in great detail in terms of composition, internal structure and diagenesis. Both cores from the flank and base of the 110 m-tall Matterhorn mound prove the un-cemented nature of the mound situated in a high-energy environment. The first core (CARKS 15) from the Matterhorn can be divided into five sedimentary units based on the lithology and the different geophysical and geochemical properties. The succession is dominantly a coral floatstone with variable amounts of corals in a matrix of changing composition and grain size. The matrix of the coral floatstone is mainly composed of pteropods, planktonic and benthic foraminifera, with admixed coral fragments, sponge spiculae, mollusks, and echinoids. Tomogram (CT) scans reveal that the highest amount of coral, 49.1%, is in the interval where corals float within a fine-grained matrix. The cold-water corals grew during both glacial and interglacial times, but living conditions might be slightly better during higher sea levels. The decrease of aragonite and the coeval increase of lithification and low-Magnesium calcite document early diagenetic alterations within the mound. The most prominent diagenetic alterations observed in thin section are dissolution of coral fragments and neomorphism that characterized an early diagenesis in marine to marine burial environment. A second, 3.26 m long core (CARKS 16) that was taken in the sediments adjacent to the mound consists of a coarse-grained skeletal grainstone to rudstone. The skeletal components are predominantly pteropods, benthic and planktonic foraminifera. Portions of the core display inclined bedding and large-scale cross-bedding indicating the sedimentary record of the high-energy bi-directional tidal current regime in the Straits of Florida. In addition, both of the cores have been tied to a high-resolution geophysical dataset collected with an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) providing information about morphology and facies distribution of the area around the Matterhorn.</p
Based on the analysis and interpretation of cores (kullenberg and calypso) calibrated with acoustic data (3.5 kHz seismic and swath bathymetry data), this study proposes a reconstruction of the recent sedimentary history (last 250 kyrs) of the Nile deep-sea turbidite system (NDSTS). A detailed stratigraphic study based on several techniques has been necessary to date sedimentary series with abundant gravity events and spreading over several glacial/interglacial cycles. With the establishment of an ecostratigraphy based on planktonic foraminifer assemblages and calibrated with isotopic and tephrochronologic tools we have reached a study resolution close to 2000 yrs. The results obtained permit the interpretation of all channel-levee systems located on the margin as a multi-source system. Indeed, in contrast to the majority of large modern muddy DSTS, fed by a punctual source, the Nile margin has several small-sized channel-levee systems and some of them were fed at the same time. The detailed analysis of sedimentary facies and sequences provide evidence for a sedimentary functioning linked to environmental conditions affecting the drainage basin of the Nile River and its delta. Thus, in the NDSTS, the climate forcing qualifies the classical glacio-eustatic forcing at the source of modern stratigraphic models. Climatic contrasts in NE Africa allow in particular the feeding of turbiditic channel-levee systems during high sea-level stands. Major Nile floods are also the source of transport and depositional processes poorly documented until now
