The Shape of Water: The Constituency Communication of the Lega in Power
No full textThe Lega was the first populist party to achieve any kind of electoral success in Italy since the days of ‘qualunquismo’, which had until then represented the ideal-type of right-wing populism. In 2013, the party acquired a new leader and a revised ideological platform. Matteo Salvini, the new secretary of the Lega, sought to reposition his party as one with a nation-wide appeal without completely abandoning its territorial and federalist vocation. This change required the identification of new EU-framed issues and an obsessive focus on security and immigration, which moved the party to a position that was identified by using the neologism, ‘sovereignitist’. In this chapter, the salient aspects of Lega MPs’ communication are highlighted, showing that it remains firmly anchored to the values of territorial identity and tradition without really becoming a national discourse

No full textThe proposed subject is the result of the study realized by the Thesis Laboratory, coordinated by the Professor M. Ieva, in the dICAR department of the Polytechnic of Bari. The study analyzes the urban structure of Tarragona, a city in Spain, and tries to explain the complex evolution of the urban fabric extra moenia and how its linked to the existent walled city. The first part, built from the XVII century next to the walls, is built above the Roman Tarraco whose doesnt survive evident traces in the actual structure, even though appears as a regular planning system that doesnt seem to coincide with the former. This edification corresponds with a phase of an accentuated urbanization and, according to the historical documents, it also responds to a request of new urban residential fabric due to population increase. An important element for the definition of the new boundaries has been, on one side, the superficial hydrography, composed of the Francolì river, and on the other side the coast. The new urban fabric is built next to the coast and gradually reaches the natural limit of the river. The global urban development follows different orientations, often depending on the previous lying and on the territorial itineraries considered matrices of the new urban layouts. A first connection is realized between the upper and the lower part, which is actualized in the construction of the area between the current Rambla Vella and Rambla Nova. The orientation of the coast, instead, conditions the structure of the new district that connects the port to the built in the meantime consolidated. The present Rambla Nova is a structuring axis of the expanding district designed by Josep Maria Pujol i de Barberà, articulated on a structure defined by a central pole, the Plaça de la Imperia Tàrraco, which generates a series of radial paths and of relative controradial layouts, according to a model of behaviour that had found wide use in many European expansion plans. The most recent developments in the urban fabric, which concurr to define a strongly torn periphery and lacking qualified hierarchies, seem to be affected by the strong industrial development that, since the last century, has produced a broad commercial and tertiary specialization with choices on the port system and on the infrastructural one that mark, even today, often negatively, the organization of the Catalan city, generating a strong incoherence of the whole urban system
Start-up transient simulation of a liquid rocket engine
No full textDuring the start-up of a liquid rocket engine most of the engine components are required to work at extreme operating conditions; this phase features very complex phenomena such as combustion instabilities, water hammer eFFects in feed lines, turbopumps operating far from design conditions and two-phase flows that cannot be neglected when design studies of an engine are to be performed or the assessment of the valve opening sequence has to be done. For these reasons simulations of the ignition transient phase become necessary in order to reduce the experimental tests and increase the engine safety and reliability. The subject of the present work is to develop an LRE transient model, to apply it to simulate the start-up transient and to validate the model with an existing liquid rocket engine (the RL-10). A system approach has been used, since it is necessary to take into account all the interactions between all the components of an engine. This choice is fundamental if a detailed estimation of the engine transient behaviour is the task. The system simulated by the code encompasses the complete feeding system from the tanks down to the the turbopump subsystems, the valves, the pipes, the thrust chamber's inlets, the flow ducts of the thrust chamber itself and the chemical reactions inside the combustion chamber. The engine model is built using ESPSS,5 the propulsion system library compatible with EcosimPro, an object oriented tool capable of modelling various kinds of dynamic systems. The engine model includes also original models developed by the authors and presented in previous works6 such as a new injector plate model, and more realistic heat transfer coefficient correlations. The transient phase of the Pratt and Whitney RL-10 engine has been taken as validation case. This engine has been chosen for several reasons, among which the good availability of engine construction data, performance and tests results in open literature.1-3 The main subsystem models of this engine will be described and their validation will be presented. Then the integrated model of the entire engine will be described alongside the comparison of the simulation with experimental data. © 2011 by F. Di Matteo
Desenvolvimento regional da microrregião de Criciúma: um estudo sobre o desenvolvimento industrial

Economia.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo estudar a microrregião de Criciúma de acordo com o desenvolvimento industrial regional. A união dos municípios em regiões ocorre devido a suas semelhanças geográficas e culturais e é dentro da microrregião especifica, que esse trabalho estuda a influência das indústrias dos municípios. A partir da analise do desenvolvimento industrial relativo recente da microrregião de Criciúma, localizada no Sul do Estado de Santa Catarina, confeccionou-se coeficiente de localização e participação industrial, regional e nacional da análise shift-share, dos anos 2006 a 2011 e enquadrou-se a qualidade desse desenvolvimento em uma das teorias desenvolvimentistas industriais de Marshall, Perroux e Myrdall, propostas nesse trabalho. Os resultados apresentados indicam que a microrregião de Criciúma não possui altos índices de desenvolvimento e efeito estrutural é negativo (análise shift-share). Além disso, não é possível identificar uma única cidade, como o senso comum o faz com Criciúma, como a principal referência industrial da região
