No full textIn the framework of the theory of stochastic integration with respect to a family of semimartingales depending on a continuous parameter, introduced by De Donno and Pratelli as a mathematical background to the theory of bond markets, we analyze a special class of integrands that preserve some nice properties of the finite-dimensional stochastic integral. In particular, we focus our attention on the class of processes considered by Mikulevicius and Rozovskii for the case of a locally square integrable cylindrical martingale and which includes an appropriate set of measure-valued processes

No full textNotre contribution se veut - à travers l’analyse de sources différentes - une étude de l’influence que les échos des deux révolutions russes de 1917 (celle de février et celle d’octobre) ont exercé pendant les deux dernières années du premier conflit mondial sur les jeunes subversives italiens, déjà engagés dans une bataille dure et violente contre la guerre. Une attention particulière sera donnée au mouvement juvénile intransigeant du Sud et sur le rôle de certains dirigeants régionaux qui, à travers un grand complot d’organisation, deviennent les organisateurs de nombre d’initiatives qui convergeront, après la révolution d’octobre, dans un projet de révolte plus ample “pour la paix et la socialisation des sols” et de rébellion contre les forces organisées de l’État.

Through different types of sources, this contribution intends to analyse the influence that the reverberations of the two Russian revolutions of 1917 (that of February and that of October) had on the young Italian socialists during the last two years of World War I; young subversives that, from the beginning of the European war, were already committed in a harsh and violent anti-war struggle. Attention will be paid in particular to the Southern youth intransigent movement and to the role played by some regional political leaders which, through an extensive organizational plot, promote a series of initiatives that, after the October revolution, flow in a general project of revolt “for peace and for the socialization of the land” and rebellion against the organized forces of the Stat

No full textWe describe two procedures that assist insurance rms in determining shareholders' risk tolerance thresholds and in using such thresholds within the decision-making process. The fi rst procedure is based on parsimonious measures of the risk/return tradeoff such as the Sharpe Ratio; the second procedure makes a direct use of expected utility theory.

No full textSi tratta dell'introduzione alla seconda edizione del volume "Il diritto amministrativo nella giurisprudenza". Il volume raccoglie 62 pronunce che rappresentano significativamente i principi fondamentali, gli istituti e le regole del diritto amministrativo sostanziale e processuale; fornendo – anzitutto agli studenti – uno strumento che consente di cogliere la sostanza di quanto nei manuali viene descritto in termini generali e, in definitiva, i modi concreti in cui il diritto amministrativo opera e interviene sulle situazioni reali. Il manuale si compone di cinque parti (Principi e fonti, Organizzazione, Posizioni soggettive, Potere e funzioni, Tutele e processo), che cercano di delineare una visione moderna del rapporto tra amministrazione e amministrati, che va affermandosi anche nelle leggi sul procedimento amministrativo di altri Paesi europei. Una visione in cui il rapporto tra istituzioni pubbliche, rigidamente organizzate, autoritarie e autoreferenziali, e soggetti privati che aspettano al varco l’amministrazione per segnalarne le scorrettezze, pronti a rivolgersi al giudice amministrativo per difendere caparbiamente i propri interessi, è sostituito da un rapporto nuovo, fondato sullo “scambio” e sul “dialogo” tra amministrazione e cittadini, che mette in discussione – o quantomeno vorrebbe farlo – il monopolio della tutela giurisdizionale per il soddisfacimento dei diritti
A note on passport options
No full textIn this paper we provide a guided tour through the valuation of passport options. The holder of the passport option has the right to choose a trading strategy on the underlying financial asset. At maturity the holder receives the profits of such strategy if positive. In case of a negative payout of the strategy, the position is closed without any obligation for the holder. Hence, a passport option is a call on the profits of a trading account. The pricing of this derivative is reduced to a stochastic control problem. Since the involved functions lack the usually required regularity conditions, viscosity solutions are employed to solve the pricing problem
Phenotypic Characterization and Transformation Attempts Reveal Peculiar Traits of Xylella fastidiosa Subspecies pauca Strain De Donno
No full textXylella fastidiosa subsp. pauca strain De Donno has been recently identified as the causal agent of a severe disease affecting olive trees in a wide area of the Apulia Region (Italy). While insights on the genetics and epidemiology of this virulent strain have been gained, its phenotypic and biological traits remained to be explored. We investigated in vitro behavior of the strain and compare its relevant biological features (growth rate, biofilm formation, cell–cell aggregation, and twitching motility) with those of the type strain Temecula1. The experiments clearly showed that the strain De Donno did not show fringe on the agar plates, produced larger amounts of biofilm and had a more aggregative behavior than the strain Temecula1. Repeated attempts to transform, by natural competence, the strain De Donno failed to produce a GFP-expressing and a knockout mutant for the rpfF gene. Computational prediction allowed us to identify potentially deleterious sequence variations most likely affecting the natural competence and the lack of fringe formation. GFP and rpfF- mutants were successfully obtained by co-electroporation in the presence of an inhibitor of the type I restriction–modification system. The availability of De Donno mutant strains will open for new explorations of its interactions with hosts and insect vectors
Stochastic integration with respect to a sequence of semimartingales
No full textWe propose a theory of stochastic integration with respect
to a sequence of semimartingales, starting from the theory of cylindrical integration with respect to a sequence of square-integrable martingales and with respect to a sequence of processes with finite variation. Indeed, by making use of an appropriate change in probability, we replace the integral with respect to a sequence of semimartingales with the sum of an integral with respect to a sequence of square integrable martingales
and an integral with respect to a sequence of predictable processes with integrable variation. We show that, with our definition, the
stochastic integral keeps some good properties of the integral with
respect to a finite-dimensional semimartingale, such as invariance with respect
to a change in probability and the so-called ``Memin's
theorem". There are however some
differences with the finite-dimensional case, and some ``bad
properties'', which are pointed out by
some examples
