Historical Narrative of Yesenin’s Poem “Pugachev” as Dialogue-Rivalry with Pushkin

No full text
The article is devoted to historicism of Yesenin’s poem “Pugachev” (1921) in the light of A. S. Pushkin’s concept of national history, where there are his works in the foreground, united by “Pugachev’s” topic. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that the first attempt of understanding of polemical dialogue between Pushkin and Yesenin from the point of view of literary study was made, reflected in the idea of the “Pugachev” poem and determined the ideological and philosophical constructs of Yesenin’s historicism. Special attention is paid to the role of legend in historiosophical position of Pushkin and Yesenin, and their relationships with Christian axiology, and also to the place of Yesenin’s treatise “Maria’s Keys” in the artistic philosophy of its author, expressed in the dramatic poem “Pugachev.” It is concluded that Yesenin’s historical event becomes the auxiliary material for the creation of a new legend, by its values being out the principles of Pushkin’s historicism. The author argues that in a polemical dialogue between Pushkin and Yesenin, expressed in a declarative treatment of the later poet to one of the most important predecessor in ethical and artistic terms, one should see defence of his own positions in contemporary literature, typical for Yesenin’s works of these years

Khmelenko, Khimicheskay Fizika, 13(3), 15-28, 1994, (in Russian).Author Institution: Institute for Energy Problems of Chemical Physics, 1142432, Chernogolovka, Moscow Region, Russia.Gas phase luminescence spectra of N_{2} (1^{+}-system), (N^{+}}_{2} (1^{+}-system), and CN (Red system) in the temperature range 180K - 20K have been studied in the frame of original experimental approach [1] consisting in injection of helium gas jet containing the exposed to HF discharge admixtures under investigation into the cryostat with superfluid helium (T1.5K)(T \sim 1.5K). At low temperatures together with strong suppression of rotational structure the dramatic changes in the vibronic bands intensity (some bands almost completely disappear) are observed [2]. For all vibrational levels from which emission is temperature sensitive there are quasiresonant (ΔE<100cm1)(\Delta {\rm E} < 100 cm^{-1}) vibrational levels belonging to another electronic states of the same species. So the effect has been explained by effective energy transfer between the electronic states induced by collisions with cold helium atoms ([He]1019cm3)([He] \sim 10^{-19} cm^{-3}). The emission bands intensity is determined by mutual disposition of the interacting levels. Its decrease or increase depend on whether exothermic or endothermic, respectively, transition from emitting level to neighboring one. Observed phenomena provide new opportunities for accurate testing the mutual disposition of different electronic states in diatomics as well as for study of intersystem collisional induced processes

The Saratov chronicler G. A. Skopin

No full text
Deacon Skopin authored the first written work containing information on Saratov’s history. When published, it was referred to as a diary because it occasionally contains information from the author’s life. However, Skopin’s compilation is more accurately described as a chronicle, evident from his selection of facts, use of specific sources, and narrative style. Skopin omitted significant events from his life in the narrative. He did not document his experiences during the capture of Saratov by Pugachev

In The Wake of Pugachev’s Rebellion: Experience in Oral History

Grand uprising led by Pugachev seized a vast area from the middle reaches of the Volga, the Urals and the Kazakh steppes. Thousands of people from different classes and nationalities joined rebellious Ural Cossacks in 1773. From the beginning, the uprising was of antimonarchic, not noble character, although its leader, and posed as a resurrected Emperor Peter III. During two years since 1773 the rebels were holding at bay the entire Russian Empire, becoming a real threat to the power of Catherine II. Pugachev's Rebellion is a subject of numerous works of Russian historians, writers, articles, research journalists and ethnographers. But perhaps the most famous "History of Pugachev" is written by a classic of Russian literature Alexander Pushkin. His work became one of the first (if not the first) serious historical studies on Pugachev's Rebellion. The historical science of XIX century, especially its first half, doesn't know many writings on the uprising. The fact that historians did not dare to write about Pugachev and the events that took place in 1773-1775 years, as Catherine II prohibited even mention the uprising. The decree of the senate ordered even rename the place, where the described events took place, for example, the Yaik river and Yaitsk town in order "to bring all that has happened to eternal oblivion." The famous historian S.M. Solovyov did not have advance to write about Pugachev. Death interrupted his work when his 29 volume ws in process, which he planned to complete with the execution of the leader of the uprising. Russian historian V.O. Klyuchevskii did not write many pages devoted to Pugachev as well. The author of this article visited the places, where the events took place, and repeated the journey of A.S. Pushkin, who visited the region in 60years after Pugachev's Rebellion. By talking with the locals, visiting ancient towns and villages, I sought to find out what has now preserved since ancient times, whether it is possible today to see evidence of the uprising or the famous trip of A.S. Pushkin

Abul A‘la Mawdudi’s concept of Hakimiyya and its critical assessment in Islamic legal-political thought

No full text
The article analyzes the legal-political aspects of the concept of hakimiyya (“divine domination”) devised by the Indo-Pakistani theologian Abul A‘la Mawdudi (1903–1979). The author asserts that the doctrine of hakimiyya is based upon the recognition that Allah is the sole subject empowered to provide legislation to the Muslim community directly (the principle of “legal domination”) and indirectly (the principle of “political domination”).The doctrine of hakimiyya acquires its political shape as the Islamic state (caliphate), wherein the Islamic community is entrusted with a limited right to legislation by means of agency (wikala). Special emphasis is laid on examination into the critical appraisal of the hakimiyya doctrinals in the modern Islamic legal science. The article explores the objections raised against the hakimiyya theory by the Indo-Pakistani religious scholars, including Abul Hasan Nadwi and Wahid al-Din Khan, as well as by a number of modern Arabic legal theorists, such as Hasan al- Hudaybi, Muhammad ‘Imara, Muhammad Sayyid al-‘Ashmawi, Haydar Ibrahim ‘Ali a.o. The author concludes that the concept of hakimiyya underlies Mawdudi’s doctrine of the sources of law and serves as the basis for his theory of the Islamic state, as well as for his concept of the “renewal of faith” through Islamic revolution

Analysis of Russian and global game studies: ludology vs. narratology

No full text
The author reviews the past-to-present academic literature on game studies from the perspective of ludology and narratology. The academic study of video games has grown substantially since 2001 - the year Game Studies started publishing its first articles. Yet both ludology and narratology remain a particularly new field, especially in the Russian academic field, and many of its discussed themes have yet to attain widespread recognition. The academic articles published between 2017 and 2022 were reviewed to provide understanding of the current state of the research on ludology and narratology in various research areas. The corpus was gathered by searching publications in international database Scopus. Each article was categorized according to the type of database, period of time, the country of publication, the field of study and the frequency of citations. The applied method of quantitative research allows tracking the development of research within five years in the field of game studies. Several proposals for further research in this field were put forward. The main hypothesis of this work is that one type of methodology is more applicable than the other, considering the background. The author concludes that one type of methodology can prevail in research - depending on the region of the published article

Влияниe Вальтера Скотта на историческую прозу А.С. Пушкина: „Роб Рой” и „Капитанская дочка”

This article analyses the influence of Sir Walter Scott’s historical fiction (Rob Roy) on the development of the historical novel in Russia in the first half of the 19th century, based on the example of Pushkin’s The Captain’s Daughter. The author argues that both Scott and Pushkin had a similar approach to their national and local history and collected historical material in the same way (through archival research and by contacting local people who had witnessed the events of the Jacobite Rebellion, 1715, and the Pugachev Rebellion, 1773–1775). A close analysis of both texts presents examples of a similar poetics of the narration, dialectal use of language and dialogue, and the use of local colour and folk elements, such as folk songs or old sayings, which serve as mottos for particular chapters in the novels. This article analyses the influence of Sir Walter Scott’s historical fiction (Rob Roy) on the development of the historical novel in Russia in the first half of the 19th century, based on the example of Pushkin’s The Captain’s Daughter. Specific PCR for Myxobolus arcticus SSU rDNA in juvenile sockeye salmon Oncorhynchus nerka from British Columbia, Canada

No full text
A PCR for the specific detection of the salmon brain parasite Myxobolus arcticus (Pugachev and Khokhlov, 1979) was developed using primers designed to amplify a 1363 base pair fragment of the small subunit rDNA. The assay did not amplify DNA from 5 other Myxobolus species or from 7 other myxozoan species belonging to 5 other genera. For juvenile sockeye salmon Oncorhynchus nerka (Walbaum) collected from Chilko Lake, British Columbia (BC), Canada, in 2011, the prevalence by PCR was 96%, in contrast to 71% by histological examination of brain tissue. In 2010, the histological prevalence was 52.5%. Sequence identity between M. arcticus from Chilko Lake and other sites in BC ranged from 99.7 to 99.8% and was 99.6% for a Japanese sequence. In contrast, an M. arcticus sequence from Norway shared 95.3% identity with the Chilko Lake sequence, suggesting misidentification of the parasite. Chilko Lake sockeye salmon were previously reported free of infection with M. arcticus, and more research is required to understand the processes involved in the local and global dispersion of this parasite
