Testing times for global financial governance

    No full text
Ignazio Angeloni believes that the increase in financial interdependence in recent decades has not been matched by sufficient progress in the international coordination among regulatory authorities. In fact, the international financial system has suffered from insufficient globalisation of regulatory and supervisory policies, not excessive globalisation of financial markets.

La dinamica dei prezzi dei prodotti lungo la filiera lattiero-casearia

    No full text

Data on some socio-economic parameters explaining the movement of extra-EU asylum seekers in Europe

    No full text
AbstractThis article contains data concerning the movement of extra-EU asylum seekers in Europe. Data used in this paper were collected from the Eurostat database and the UNHCR database. The data consist of some socio-economic features related to 30 European countries where extra-EU asylum seekers have applied for protection. All variables were transformed into their natural logs. The degree of statistical correlation is evaluated from Pearson׳s coefficient, using the 0.05 level of significance. Regression analysis is conducted to identify some socio-economic predictors of countries attracting asylum migration. Six models are presented, where ‘first time asylum applicants’ in 2015 (1,324,215 individuals) in 30 European countries were regressed on 2014 predictors. The multilinear regression model was tested by using data on asylum seekers in 2014, regressed on the same predictors referred to 2013. The data here shared provide a resource for researchers working in the topical field of migration

Monetary policy transmission in the euro area: any changes after EMU?

    No full text
We examine the euro area monetary policy transmission process using post-1999 data, with two main questions in mind: has it changed after and because of EMU and, if so, is it becoming homogeneous across countries. Given the data limitations, we concentrate on three blocks of transmission: the banking, interest-rate and asset-market channels. We find evidence that the transmission through banks has become more potent and homogeneous across countries because of EMU. On the financial-market channels, our evidence is somewhat weaker but suggestive. The interest-rate channel appears to have changed even before EMU, and to now affect national economies in a broadly similar way. The asset-market channel (proxied by the stock-market effects of monetary policy) also seems to work rather homogeneously across national markets (no comparison with pre-EMU is available here). A positive answer to both questions raised above represents, in our view, the best working hypothesis under current knowledge. Effects of Boswellia Serrata Supplementation on Ex Vivo Immune Responses in Horses

    No full text
Frankincense, the gum resin of Boswellia serrata (BS), has been used for centuries in central Africa and in the Middle East as a remedy for many health problems, especially chronic inflammatory diseases [1]. In recent years, the extracts from the gum resin of BS have been also shown to target both the humoral and adaptive immune responses in mice [2,3]. To date, the effects of an oral administration of BS in horses has not been investigated. Purpose of this preliminary work was the evaluation of immune responses in ex vivo peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of horses supplemented with BS. The preliminary study suggests that BS is able to modulate the ex vivo immune responses in equine species by increasing the immune responses in cells either pulsed or not by mitogens

This research has the problem "What facts / changes enabled the understanding of strategic behavior of the Angeloni Network in the period 1983 to 2006?" The research perspective is exploratory, descriptive, and evaluative. The historical method of interpretation was a way to research the case study of the historical and organizational type. The techniques of data collection included: a literature review, document analysis, interviews, and observation. The results showed that: a) the dominant strategy in the Network Angeloni was competition with a focus on differentiation, b) the leader's vision was instrumental in developing the expansion and growth, c) the creation of value was recognized and perceived by the customers; d) the procedures used to reach the overall strategy was fragmented, revolutionary, and intuitive, with the strategic definitions of Angeloni Network; e) the bet was essential for the logistics competitive strategy focused on differentiation, as well as financial controls and trade agreements with suppliers, leading the company to align costs and benefits before deploying the strategies. Dietary polyphenols and their effects on cell biochemistry and pathophysiology 2013

    No full text
Dietary polyphenols, along with other natural compounds occurring in fruits and vegetables, have been reported to exert beneficial effects in a multitude of disease states, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative disorders. Many of the biological actions of polyphenols have been attributed to their antioxidant properties; however, during the last years, a new realization of how nutritional antioxidants may function has been envisaged, and recent findings have suggested that they affect several cellular pathways exerting a pleiotropic effect. This special issue analyzes and expands our knowledge on the new mechanisms of actions of polyphenols and other natural compounds with the aim to better understand what could be defined as “the network” of their different biological effects

Endocrine adaptations across physical and psychological stressors in long-term space flights

    No full text
The human body needs to adapt to both psychological pressure and physical stressors, such as radiation and microgravity, to cope with the extreme environment represented by a long-term spaceflight. Resolving the relative contributions of physical and psychological stressors and the mechanisms underlying adaptation remains critical for devising effective countermeasures addressing the health and well-being of humans heading to prospective deep-space exploratory-class missions. In the present short review, we discuss recent evidence on the complex role of novel players linking the response to physical and psychological stressors with health-impacting consequences of long-term space flights, such as bone loss and dysregulated immune response
