CORDOLI IN MURATURA DI PIETRAME FACCIA A VISTA

    No full text
Le prestazioni delle diverse configurazioni di rinforzo sono state testate attraverso prove di flessione su 10 travi di lunghezza 5 m: 8 in muratura di pietrame e 2 in muratura di laterizioFor historic constructions, it is known that the application of a ring-beam is an effective method to prevent out-of-plane collapse mechanisms, to avoid the separation of adjacent walls and to facilitate the distribution of vertical compressive loads. However this effective reinforcing method presents some problems, mainly depending on the material used for the ring-beam construction. This paper discusses the problems associated with this reinforcing method and studies a new type of ring beam made of recycled old stones or bricks reinforced at the bed joints with glass-fibre sheets, GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) grids or/and PBO (poly-p-phenylene benzobisoxazole) cords. An experimental investigation has been carried out on 8 full-scale rubble-stone and 2 brickwork masonry ring beams tested in flexure

Misurazione e certificazione della sostenibilità. Quali sistemi turistici e strutture ricettive?

Il medicine man e i miti della metamorfosi nelle culture ugro finniche e siberiane –The Medicine Man and Myths of Metamorphosis in the Finno-Ugric and Siberian Cultures

The Medicine Man and the Myths of Metamorphosis in the Finno-Ugric and Siberian Cultures The myths of metamorphosis among the Finno-Ugric and Siberian peoples, considered from a comparative point of view with regard to the myths of metamorphosis in ancient Western European cultures, reveal elements of affinity and characteristics of individuality. The original shamanic concept of energy (or “double” or “second soul”) in all created beings, subject, without interruption, to transformation presupposing renovatio, finds an explicit scenic demonstration in the “trance of transference” of the medicine man: his “double”, during the difficult, painful magic journey, assumes new features, activating a process of renewal which allows the shaman to reach the generative power of the cosmos and to reinforce his personal skills. In trance, he creates the foundations for the renewal of the reality in which symbols appear, relating the discomfort of the sick person, his pains and social problems with the harmonious order of the cosmos wanted by God the Creator at the dawn of the universe: with his ritual language, based on the dialectic of fragmentation and unity and aimed at integration, the shaman transforms the unbalanced condition of the patient’s illness into a balanced state of good health, which helps social relations. Quite frequently, it is the mythical metamorphoses which explain the origins of all natural beings, man included, which are fundamental for the understanding of the common initiatory characteristic of their existence. The peoples of the North, for example, express metaphorically the creative need for man’s immortality through the myth of the celestial origin of his bear-ancestor, which “fell” to earth from the Constellation of Ursa Maior. The shamanic system of beliefs in its historical development has shown an extraordinary capacity for the conservation of the metaphorical meaning of the myths of metamorphosis, associated with the idea of renovatio, which is implemented through suffering, struggle and the spirit of sacrifice in difficult times of “passage”, both in the lives of single individuals and society. Even in the literature and art of peoples who have long since abandoned the practice of shamanism, like the Hungarians or Finns, the prototype of the transformation of the mythical and magic imagination of the ancestors leaves the imprint of its importance and survives to this day, showing a topical nature which leads to reflection about the necessity for the conservation of ethical values in periods of transition like that of today. The metamorphosis of shamanic matrix can be ambivalent, and occur also in a negative sense: in this case, according to the dictates of the fathers, it is vital to activate adequate resources to counteract it and trigger a transformation which represents a renewal

    ヒトNK細胞の増殖及び表現型に対するIL-18の効果:がん免疫療法への応用

When pathogenic stresses are recognized by innate immune cells, inflammasomes are assembled and caspase-1 is activated, resulting in the conversion of pro-IL-18 into mature IL-18. Because natural killer (NK) cells express IL-18 receptors, IL-18 may play roles in immune functions of NK cells. In the present study, we examined the effect of IL-18 on NK cells derived from lung cancer patients and healthy adult volunteers. When peripheral blood NK cells were stimulated with IL-2, the cells formed clusters beginning on day 5-6 and proliferated thereafter, in which the number of NK cells increased by 10-fold in 10 days. When IL-18 was added, cell clusters were observed as early as on day 4 and NK cells proliferated vigorously. On day 10, the expansion rate was 56-fold on average, showing that IL-18 promoted the expansion of NK cells. It was also notable that IL-18 enhanced the expression of CD80, CD86, HLA-DR and HLA-DQ on NK cells, suggesting that IL-18 conferred NK cells an APC-like phenotype. When cellular cytotoxicity was determined, APC-like NK cells efficiently killed tumor cells and anti-tumor activity was augmented by the addition of tumor antigen-specific mAbs. In addition, IFN-γ was produced by APC-like NK cells in response to tumor cells, and the cytokine production was further enhanced by mAbs. Taken together, IL-18 not only promoted the expansion of NK cells, but also changed the phenotype of NK cells. IL-2/IL-18-induced NK cells might, therefore, serve as a bridge between innate immunity and adaptive immunity and be useful for cancer immunotherapy.長崎大学学位論文 学位記番号:博(医歯薬)甲第1042号 学位授与年月日:平成30年3月20日Author: Hiroaki Senju, Asuka Kumagai, Yoichi Nakamura, Hiroyuki Yamaguchi, Katsumi Nakatomi, Shota Fukami, Kengo Shiraishi, Yuka Harada, Mitsuhiro Nakamura, Haruki Okamura, Yoshimasa Tanaka, Hiroshi MukaeCitation: International Journal of Biological Sciences, 14(3), pp.331-340; 201

Chapter 18 of the General Theory “Further Analysed”: The Theory of Economics as A Method

In 1987, Greenwald and Stiglitz accused Keynes’s summary of the General Theory in chapter 18 of relying upon “neoclassical and Marshallian tools”. A number of contributions have on the contrary emphasized the methodological importance of this chapter, which this paper revisits in the light of A Treatise on Probability. It thereby shows that the notions of cause and dependence used to discuss the relationships between independent and dependent variables of the General Theory are related to the concept of “independence for knowledge”, which concerns logical connections between arguments rather than material connections between events. We demonstrate that such logical connections established in chapter 18 are rediscussed in chapters 19-21, where Keynes allows for probable repercussions between the factors and removes the simplifying assumptions previously introduced. After stressing the methodological continuity this method provides with the analysis of credit cycles in A Treatise on Money, we argue that chapter 18 is an indispensable tool to decode the internal text structure of the General Theory. We thus characterize the latter as a vademecum to the complex economic world, the author providing an analytical method allowing – and requiring – the readers to emulate his efforts to grasp the complexity and interdependence of the economic material.John Maynard Keynes, The General Theory, complexity, economic methodology

Right-Wing Rural Populisms: Comparative Analysis of Two European Regions

The most significant political fact of the latest elections within the European Union is the growth, in all states, of right-wing "populist" political formations. Alongside this, one of the most relevant aspects is the significant share of support that these "parties" have in suburban, peripheral and rural areas. Starting from this premise, the first part of the article aims to discuss the relevance of the rural-urban dichotomy and how territorial differences are an important factor in the growth of right-wing populism. The second part proposes a comparative analysis of the political trends recorded in recent years in two economically advanced European regions: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (France) and Lombardia (Italy). The analysis of the official results of the 2019 European elections and of the previous elections in the two regions, shows the entrenchment in rural areas of the consensus for right-wing populist formations (Lega and Rassemblement National) but also the presence of different discourses and political strategies, which reveal the different nuances that rural populism can take
