Advances in Magnetic Nanomaterials and Nanostructures
Magnetic nanomaterials, in which non-bulk magnetic properties emerge because of their low dimension, are a class of materials with huge application potential in several areas, providing, at the same time, an exciting field of fundamental research [...

Abstract: The work begins from the problem of trying to think of a way of resistance by Law. The hypothesis is supported by the notion of "deactivate" the law, contained in the work of Giorgio Agamben. In this sense, this dissertation seeks to reconstruct the legal-political and governmental paradigms within the work of the author in question, mostly from the books "The sovereign power and bare life", "State of Exception" and "The Kingdom and the Glory". At the end, the proposal to "deactivate" the Law and the concept of unindustriousness are confronted with Agamben's government machinery. In conclusion, the philosophy of law is presented as an alternative to think about a new relationship between law and life
Integration of combined cycle power plants and parabolic solar troughs using CO2 as heat transfer fluid
In this paper, a performance assessment of integrated solar combined cycle systems (ISCCS) is reported on. The main aim of the study was to evaluate the solar conversion efficiency of ISCCS plants based on parabolic troughs using CO2 as heat transfer fluid. The use of CO2 instead of the more conventional thermal oil as heat transfer fluid can allow an increase in the trough outlet temperature and thus in solar energy conversion efficiency. In particular, the ISCCS plant considered here was developed on the basis of a triple-pressure, reheated combined cycle power plant rated at 252 MW. Two different solutions for the solar steam generator are considered and compared. Moreover, the performance of the ISCCS system was evaluated with reference to different values of CO2 maximum temperature, solar radiation and solar share of the power output.
The results of the performance assessment show that the solar energy conversion efficiency ranges from 23% to 25% for a CO2 maximum temperature of 550°C. The use of a CO2 temperature of 450°C reduces the solar efficiency by about 1.5-2.0 percentage points. The use of a solar steam generator including only the evaporation section instead of the preheating, evaporation and superheating sections allows the achievement of slightly better conversion efficiencies. However, the adoption of this solution leads to a maximum value of the solar share around 10% on the ISCCS power output. The solar conversion efficiencies of the ISCCS systems considered here are better than those of the more conventional Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) systems based on steam cycles (14-18%) and are very similar to the predicted conversion efficiencies of the more advanced direct steam generation plants (22-27%)
Recent Advances on Anilato-Based Molecular Materials with Magnetic and/or Conducting Properties
The aim of the present work is to highlight the unique role of anilato-ligands, derivatives of the 2,5-dioxy-1,4-benzoquinone framework containing various substituents at the 3 and 6 positions (X = H, Cl, Br, I, CN, etc.), in engineering a great variety of new materials showing peculiar magnetic and/or conducting properties. Homoleptic anilato-based molecular building blocks and related materials will be discussed. Selected examples of such materials, spanning from graphene-related layered magnetic materials to intercalated supramolecular arrays, ferromagnetic 3D monometallic lanthanoid assemblies, multifunctional materials with coexistence of magnetic/conducting properties and/or chirality and multifunctional metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) will be discussed herein. The influence of (i) the electronic nature of the X substituents and (ii) intermolecular interactions i.e., H-Bonding, Halogen-Bonding, π-π stacking and dipolar interactions, on the physical properties of the resulting material will be also highlighted. A combined structural/physical properties analysis will be reported to provide an effective tool for designing novel anilate-based supramolecular architectures showing improved and/or novel physical properties. The role of the molecular approach in this context is pointed out as well, since it enables the chemical design of the molecular building blocks being suitable for self-assembly to form supramolecular structures with the desired interactions and physical propertie
Riscrivere Dante in un'altra lingua:Nel regno oscuro by Giorgio Pressburger
Reading from Nel regno oscuro by Giorgio Pressburger followed by a conversation with the author The Jewish, Budapest-born writer Giorgio Pressburger, one of the most interesting contemporary novelists in Europe, does not write in his native Hungarian but in adoptive Italian, and has often reflected about this linguistic choice. His most recent novel, Nel regno oscuro (2008), is inspired by Dante’s Inferno, and describes a journey to Hell which is both a meditation on XX-century history – and the Shoah in particular – and a psychoanalytical attempt, guided by Sigmund Freud, to come to terms with the loss of the author’s dead father and twin brother
"Il seme del piangere" of Giorgio Caproni. A linguistic and thematic analysis.
The analysis conducted within the paper aims to provide a linguistic and thematic overview of Giorgio Caproni's collection "Il seme del piangere," first published by Garzanti in 1959. Starting from a historical, cultural and stylistic framing of the environment and the drives that move the author in his poetic production, a punctual analysis of the first section of the work, the "Versi Livornesi," will be made in order to provide a brief but timely annotated anthology. The poetic force of the 1960s is totally condensed in the mind and pen of Giorgio Caproni, therefore the aim of this study is to highlight as many of his characteristics and particularities as possible with the desire to pay homage to the one who gave an elevation to the poetry of the second half of the twentieth century that has hardly been, subsequently, achieved
