Eric Weil: Morale e Politica
With this contribution I propose to rediscover the value of Weilian political and moral the thought. To this end, I will divide my essay in two parts: the first, in which I will refer to the re-interpretation of Aristotelian thought developed by the author; a second in which I will try to highlight those characteristics of modern society that Weil always kept in mind, through original reconciliation of Kantian and Hegelian thought. The issue is that the author did not cease to make dialogue with those of the ancient world: the Weilian thought, then, cannot no open itself to an essentially meta-philosophical perspective
The cathedral and the bazaar of e-repository development: encouraging community engagement with moving pictures and sound
This paper offers an insight into the development, use and governance of e‐repositories for learning and teaching, illustrated by Eric Raymond's bazaar and cathedral analogies and by a comparison of collection strategies that focus on content coverage or on the needs of users. It addresses in particular the processes that encourage and achieve community engagement. This insight is illustrated by one particular e‐repository, the Education Media On‐Line (EMOL) service. This paper draws analogies between the bazaar approach for open source software development and its possibilities for developing e‐repositories for learning and teaching. It suggests in particular that the development, use and evaluation of online moving pictures and sound objects for learning and teaching can benefit greatly from the community engagement lessons provided by the development, use and evaluation of open source software. Such lessons can be underpinned by experience in the area of learning resource collections, where repositories have been classified as ‘collections‐based’ or ‘user‐based’. Lessons from the open source movement may inform the development of e‐repositories such as EMOL in the future

Bibliographics for the 983 eprints in the live archives of E-LIS : trends and status report up to 7th July 2004, based on author-self-archiving metadata
The priority for ideas and philosophy related to "Network Theory" have been traced back and documented by Braun(2004),and credit goes to Karinthy(1929).The IT has empowered to realise it, as the most practical phenomena and it is no more a humour. The OAI (Open Archives Initiatives)and ACIS (Academic Contributor Information System)are progressive in the direction ,which may lead to realise the "Collective Genius" at global level. Focus of present study is on Author-Self-Archiving (A-S-A)Metadata of the 983 Eprints in the Live Archives of the E-LIS (EPrints of Library and Information Science),which were approved till 7th July 2004.The A-S-A Metadata was used for librametric analysis. Self-explanatory bibliographics are illustrated. The highlights include: Conference papers (34%); highest approval, June 2004 (28%); published archives (76%);not refereed (52%); not in public domain (60%); highest self-archiving-author (De Robbio, Antonella). The Nos. of EPrints having single JITA domain specifications were: Theoretical and general aspects of libraries and information(27); Information use and sociology of information(80);Users,literacy and reading(13);Libraries as physical collections(30);Publishing and legal issues(57);Management(13);Industry, profession and education(36);Information sources, supports, channels(113) ; Information treatment for information services, Information functions and techniques (101); Technical services libraries, archives and museums(25); Housing technologies(1); Information technology and library technology(92); and Inter-domainery (395) i.e. having specifications of two or more than two JITA classes
*adu- a ie. ‘mangiare’? Università della Calabria: Centro Editoriale e Librario, Cosenza 2010, pp. 331-344
Since the publication of an article by Ronald E. Emmerick (TPS 1966), the Avestan hapax āδū.frāδana- (Yt 5, 6) has mostly been interpreted as containing the same base as Sogdian ’’δwk, probably meaning ‘corn, grain’, both words being possibly connected to the IE base for ‘eat’ (Indo-Aryan *ad-). Eric Hamp discussed in two brief notes (TPS 1968, 1973) the many difficulties involved in Emmerick’s proposal, maintaining a sceptical attitude on the matter. With the aid of fresh material, the whole question is taken again by the author, also in view of the impact which the new etymology has produced on Elamite lexicology

The Accidental Capture of a Newborn Shortfin Mako Shark Isurus oxyrinchus (Rafinesque, 1810) in the Northwestern Mediterranean Sea off the Coast of Marseille, France
A small-sized shark was accidentally caught in the coastal waters of southeastern France and abandoned in the port of L’Estaque (Marseille) in May 2024. An autopsy revealed that it was a young female shortfin mako, Isurus oxyrinchus (Rafinesque, 1810). Numerous superficial wounds on the head, back, and flanks, in the form of parallel striations resulting from heavy friction, indicate meshing in a gillnet that provoked the animal’s death by asphyxiation. Its very small size (64.77 cm TL) suggests that this is a newborn individual, leading to the hypothesis that the waters off Marseille could be a nursery area for this species. This observation alone is not enough to prove this point, but it does suggest the need for closer monitoring to validate it. Should the area be proven to play this key role for this critically endangered species, measures to limit fishing pressure would be essential, particularly during the parturition period between February and May
