Previous issue date: 2012-03-14This paper reflects about the theme: The Kingdom of God and the victims of history in the Christology of Jon Sobrino. We sought to verify the consistency of the relationship between the Kingdom of God and the victims of history. To answer this question we traveled, by biographical analysis, to the Author s theological thought. We did this in three chapters. In the first chapter the attention turns to the matrix that originated the sobriniano thought, with the central concern of understanding its theological proposal to overcome the victims suffering reality in the history. The second chapter seeks to understand how this theologian focuses on the Kingdom of God s category on his theology, and what is its originality. The third chapter seeks to point out the implications that the Kingdom of God demands in the work with the victims of history, as well as explain the degree of consistency between the Kingdom of God and the victimsEsta disserta??o reflete sobre o tema O Reino de Deus e as v?timas da hist?ria na cristologia de Jon Sobrino. Author variants in the Poetry of Jon Juaristi
ABSTRACT: In the present work we propose to systematize all the author’s variants introduced by Jon Juaristi in the new edition of his collected poems, entitled Derrotero. Before doing so, we examined the different examples of the rewriting of fourteen poems by Juaristi from their initial publication in a magazine until becoming part of one of his books. Specifically, the changes introduced by the poet in fourteen poems are analysed: two of Arte de marear, two of Los paisajes domésticos, two of Tiempo desapacible, three of Prosas (en verso) and five of Renta antigua. Both the variants inserted in these texts and in the new edition of his collected poetry allow us to conclude that Jon Juaristi only modifies, in most cases, questions of detail in order to improve syllabic computation, make sense more precise in some passage, to smooth over some slightly remote cultural reference, or to smooth out a conceptual sprain of difficult interpretation.KEY WORDS: Jon Juaristi; textual criticism; author’s variants; metrics.RESUMEN: En el presente trabajo nos proponemos sistematizar todas las variantes de autor introducidas por Jon Juaristi en la edición en prensa de sus poesías reunidas, titulada Derrotero.
This paper intends to present the fundamental notes of Jon Sobrino’s theology. Its uniqueness lies in the approach in terms of style. The author believes that the Jesuit priest’s work has become an original and creative identity that can be categorized as style. One of the strong thesis of this paper is the definition of Sobrino’s theology as “style”. After establishing the fundamentals of stylistic approach which derives mainly from H. U. von Balthasar and Ch. Theobald, the author unfolds the theological identity of this particular style and its characteristics. The other strong thesis is that the historical reality of suffering in Latin America configures Jon Sobrino’s theological style. Logos and pathos converge into a single movement that qualifies his theology as samaritan theology or sentient theology (X. Zubiri)
Episode 33: Karl Von Clausewitz
In this episode, Jon O’Gorman hosts Vanya Bellinger in discussing the author of On War. First, we discuss if Clausewitz was a product or a critic of the Prussian military reform movement. We then move to the importantance of studying Clausewitz\u27s experience as an officer and military practitioner to understand his theory. We talk about Clausewitz relationship to mentor Prussian Gen. Scharnhorst. We also speak about the Prussian military reform school that helped beat Napoleon and why the same school failed so spectacularly in the first half of the twentieth century with the Schlieffen Plan. Lastly, we talk about Marie Von Clausewitz and her relationship with her husband and the book On War.https://digital-commons.usnwc.edu/profiles-in-strategy/1032/thumbnail.jp

In contrast to many memoirs now being published, Benched is not the story of a miserable childhood, a struggle against enormous odds, or escape from a dysfunctional family. Rather, its author, Judge Jon O. Newman, tells of his balanced and uncommonly productive life, much of it spent as a federal judge for the district court and then the court of appeals for the Second Circuit.
Judge Newman’s path to the federal appellate bench was paved with well-connected mentors, who seemed eager to provide him with opportunity after opportunity. However, the book shows that this “charmed” career was the result not just of luck, but of his obvious competence and deep willingness to take on thankless duties. Judge Newman attended Princeton University and Yale Law School and then served as a law clerk on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. This clerkship led, remarkably, to an offer to serve as a clerk for Chief Justice Earl Warren, even though he had not formally applied for the position. The section on his time at the Court provides a fascinating, if all-too-brief, glimpse of its workings at the time
‘Se… o escrever’
This example of “performance writing” suggests the potentiality of writing, a different understanding of writing as embodied practice that the author tries to practice within the work itself. In doing so there is an investigation of the weight of conventional assumptions about the work and place of writing. The author implies a different relationship to writing, suggesting that Writing If, or in this case, If Writing, reflects the subjunctive conditional potential of performance itself in a way that is difficult to sustain. In English the proper conditional would be ‘Writing as if’ but the articulation without ‘as’ presents a more precarious and open concept.
AbstractWhereas the thought of Jon Elster addresses the failures of rationality and irrationality, the guiding theme of this work is the understanding of ";rational choice theory"; in some of his works, for example, Ulises y las Sirenas: Estudios about rationality and irrationality, and also in your text Ulysses Unbound: Studies in rationality, precommitment, and Constraints. Show up-to which the author relies on the myth of Ulysses to explain how and why the individual even aware of what would be rational in your choice previously discussed, may be tempted to act guided by their emotions. It is intended to highlight the analogy made by Elster between the strategy used by Ulysses and the constitutional process, to observe to what extent the attitude of knotting himself can be considered a limiting mechanism and protection of the interests and passions of both constituents as well as their constituents.KeywordsConstitution; prior commitment; passions; imperfect rationality
Desempleo y justicia local
In this paper Jon Elster presents a set of criteria of local justice that regulate dismissals. In situations where work is limited and companies adopt means of employment redundancy, the decision of dismissing certain workers —when this one tries not to be arbitrary— can be based on local criteria of fairness like merit, efficiency, age or other analysed in this work. So, after defining the concept of local justice and presenting some examples, the paper focuses on the importance of the work to organize and structure the life of people. Unemployment has serious consequences for the persons who suffer it and the author advises that it is necessary to subordinate dismissals to criteria of local justice.
La de Juaristi habría sido, por tanto, fundamentalmente, una poética intelectualista o de la idea, tal como lo demostraría también el prólogo que en 2002 escribió para el libro "Prosas en verso"Rightly considered one of the best and most representative poets of experience, Jon Juaristi has not, however, dedicated too many texts to reflecting on this concept, not even at the moment of greatest popularity of the current (1980s and 1990s). The work is therefore based on the hypothesis that this concept, that of the poetry of experience, would not have been the one chosen by the author when he himself presented and characterized his poetic proposals. To prove this assertion, we analyze the three poetics that the author published in those years with the titles of "Poética" (1988), "Poética definitively tired" (1996) and "Poética" (1998), none of which dealt with the concept of experience, as well as those that were related to it in the field of the poetry of experience: fiction, recognition, realism, etc. Instead, the author used the following triad of concepts: that of poetry as a "pleasant relief", that of a "Teacher" and that of the poem as a "gloss" or "illustration" of his essayistic "ideas". The work investigates only the last of the three, that of the gloss of ideas. The selected texts are the poem "Poetics under minimums", from the book "Suma de varia intention" (1987) and the content of a round table held in 1992, where the author once again described his "minimal poetics" as that which was based in the need for "at least one idea for each poem", which, in addition, was "logically expressed". Juaristi's would have been, therefore, fundamentally, an intellectualist poetics or of the idea, as would also be demonstrated by the prologue that he wrote in 2002 for the book "Prosas en verse"
