Ce petit film indépendant au budget très modeste, montre déjà le goût du cinéaste pour les récits non-chronologiques, qui ont fait depuis son succès, notamment Memento (2001) et Inception (2010).Avec sa narration à rebours et sa construction temporelle surprenante, Memento ouvre alors au cinéaste les portes de Hollywood. Il y réalise d’abord Insomnia (2002), un polar singulier produit par Steven Soderbergh et George Clooney, puis il passe aux commandes de la franchise Batman, dont il réalisera trois opus, Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008) et The Dark Knight Rises (2012). Avec Christopher Nolan, la frontière entre le Blockbuster et le film d’auteur devient assez floue, dans la mesure où il parvient à combiner la puissance de la machine hollywoodienne avec les recherches les plus pointues du cinéma moderne européen, associant la force du divertissement avec une forme d’existentialisme qui porte sur les questions du rapport entre la mémoire et l’identité, de l’emboitement du passé dans le présent et du subjectif dans la réalité. Es un hecho que el psicópata se ha apoderado del audiovisual actual -El club de la lucha, Seven, El silencio de los corderos, American Pycho, Funny Games, Joker, Joker 2, Mindhunter, You, Monstruo: La historia de Jeffrey Dahmer son solo unos pocos ejemplos- y por eso resulta urgente examinar a fondo su a menudo fascinante presencia visual y también narrativa. Analysis of Christopher Nolan\u27s Interstellar
Get PDFIn this study, I examine the ways in which Christopher Nolan developed the protagonist in Interstellar (2014). The protagonist, Cooper, played by Matthew McConaughey, is the audience’s window into the world Nolan creates in the film. Though typical Christopher Nolan screenplay structure is more complicated than the average feature film, I argue that it is the character development of the protagonist that engages viewers and ultimately allows us to connect with the story. The central conflict that cooper desires to be the best dad he can be he is forced to abandon his family to save the world. That is crucial to the character to create such a complicated conflict for the protagonist which is an accurate depiction of a father with an impossible decision. Nolan’s typical approach is to challenge you to think outside of the box, but in this specific case, it has a grounded method to demonstrate the complexities of space and time
