PEDAGOGICAL REALISM TO THE ERGOGRAPHY OF KOSTAS CHRISTAKIS

The pedagogical realism to the ergography of Kostas Christakis is highlighted by his timeless views on inclusive special education and training, which he has held for more than fifty years [1970-2024]. Pedagogical realism emerges from reading his ergography regarding practices of intervention for primary and secondary school. Kostas G. Christakis was born and raised in Crete (Myrtos Ierapetras, 1937) and lives in Chalandri, Attica. He is one of the most eminent pedagogues and scholars in the Greek in the field of special education. After his basic studies at the Pedagogical Academy of Heraklion, Crete, continued his studies with post-educational and educational programs in Greece and abroad. From an early age, he turned his interest and attention to the education of children with special difficulties and needs (special education). His work during his many years of work as a professor at all levels of education is rich not only in volume, but also in quality. On the occasion of the increasing school violence (Law 5029 2023) and the difficulties of teachers in supporting students with special needs, we approached the pedagogical texts of Kostas Christakis in our present study. The purpose of this paper is to present the positive and optimistic pedagogical applications that have been implemented with successful results for all. This is how the author proposed the award of an honorary doctorate. So, on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 12:30 in the Conference Room of the Department of Philology (Old Camp Building - Eastern Centre, Kalamata), at the 12th meeting of the Academic Year 2022-2023 of the Assembly of the Department of Philology, one of the topics discussed was: Request for the recognition of Teacher and writer Kostas G. Christakis as an Honorary Doctor of the Department of Philology [see figures 1, 2]. More specifically and very briefly it is presented the pedagogical realism of Kostas Christakis has been mapped by his contribution to teaching programs and strategies in the neurodevelopmental areas of learning readiness (Ministry of Education-Pedagogical Institute 2009) and perspectives through neuropedagogy in the twenty-first century. Another important point that pedagogical realism runs through its work in all the context of the special education curriculum is the meaning of the decategorization of disabilities in life and perspective with new technologies. Finally, a point of reference for the promotion of pedagogical realism is the treatment and management of the complex cognitive, emotional and social difficulties of male and female students in the modern school. In closing, the contribution to the ergography of Kostas Christakis is underlined by the important consideration, according to which the interdisciplinary treatment of behaviour problems, in the modern school, gives precedence to the pedagogue. Christakis' legacy is that the teacher can design and implement realistic programs of teaching interventions that include behavioural goals with an emphasis on the linguistic understanding of rules and limits and the experiential expression of social skills.  Article visualizations

    Variations on the Author

    Get PDF
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

TΗΕ TEACHING PROGRAMS AND STRATEGIES. THE PERSPECTIVE WITH NEUROEDUCATION AND NEUROPEDAGOGY: TRIBUTION TO THE TEACHER AND WRITER KOSTAS CHRISTAKIS

    Get PDF
In the context of the tribute to the teacher and writer Kostas Christakis, this paper discusses issues related to programs and teaching strategies in the light of neuroeducation and neuropedagogy. The following text is inspired by his books "Special difficulties and needs in primary school" and "Teaching programs and strategies for people with special educational needs and severe learning difficulties". Through the neuropedagogy, teachers understand the brain function to tailor instruction to the individual differences and special educational needs [SENs] and Disabilities of students. Their combination with the above programs creates a global framework for improving learning and the integration for them into the educational system. The perspective of neuroeducation and neuropedagogy reflect the importance of targeted special education and training [SET] under the pedagogical consideration principle of individuality. The teaching programs and strategies are formulated to meet the special educational [SENs] needs of each student, thus enhancing their success and autonomy in the educational environment (Christakis, 2023, 2011, 2006, 2000).  Article visualizations

    Get PDF
In the context of a tribute to the author and pedagogist Kostas Christakis, this paper discusses issues of special education concerning the inclusive education of children with difficulties, with emphasis on de-categorization, de-ageing, and the perspective of New Technologies (NT). The following text is the product of an immersion in his publications, particularly his two-volume academic book (2011), 'The Education of Children with Special Difficulties - Introduction to Special Education,' which is used by students in Greek universities. De-categorization and de-ageing examine the difficulties of individuals in the context of inclusive education. The purpose of this paper is to highlight contemporary and timeless pedagogical issues of concern to the educational community, such as the understanding of diversity. The conclusions, according to the literature review, emphasize the necessity of de-categorization and de-ageing and their implications for New Technologies (NT).  Article visualizations

Ensuring the Reliability and Robustness of Database Management Systems (Dagstuhl Seminar 21442)

    No full text
The goal of this seminar was to bring together researchers and practitioners from various domains such as of databases, automatic testing, and formal methods to build a common ground and to explore possibilities for systematically improving the state of the art in database management system engineering. The outcome of the seminar was a joint understanding of the specific intricacies of building stateful system software, as well as the identification of several areas of future work. In particular, we believe that database system engineering can both be significantly improved by adopting additional verification techniques and testing tools, and can provide important feedback and additional challenges (e.g. related to state management) to neighboring domains
