Retradução comentada de Corinne ou l'Italie de Mme de Staël
Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Estudos da Tradução, Florianópolis, 2014.Esta tese, vinculada à linha da "Teoria, crítica e história da tradução" objetiva a retradução comentada de Corinne ou l'Italie (1807) de Madame de Staël. No primeiro capítulo, descrevem-se a vida e as obras da autora, com ênfase para Corinne ou l'Italie, que foi traduzida e retraduzida em outras línguas, principalmente o inglês, italiano e alemão. Em seguida, no capítulo 2, apresenta-se a primeira tradução para o português do Brasil Corina ou a Itália (1945, Edições Cultura). Como terceira etapa, comenta-se a retradução com base nas reflexões teóricas de Berman, Pym, Venuti, Gambier. Apresentam-se exemplos dos aspectos semânticos, culturais, estilísticos presentes ao longo dos XX livros, a partir do original e da retradução. Os comentários do processo de tradução permitem uma frutífera troca literária e cultural e a tradução, o estudo e conhecimento da obra de Madame de Staël, por consequência, enriquecem o cânone da literatura francesa traduzida no Brasil.Abstract : This thesis, linked to the research field "Theory, criticism and history of translation" attempts to do a commented retranslation of Mme de Staël's Corinne ou l'Italie (1807). The first chapter describes the life and the works of the author, with emphasis on Corinne ou l'Italie, which was translated and retranslated into other languages, mainly English, Italian and German. In Chapter 2, the first translation of Corinne ou l'Italie into Brazilina Portuguese (1945, Cultura Printings) is presented. In chapter 3 the retranslation is analyzed through comments based on theoretical reflections of Berman, Pym, Venuti and Gambier. Examples of semantic, cultural and stylistics aspects of the XX books (original and retranslated version) are presented. The comments of the translation process allow a rich literary and cultural exchange. As well as a deeper investigation about Madame de Staël's work enriches the standard of French literature in Brazil

Effects of sulphadoxine and pyrimethamine on phoria and near point of convergence
Sulphadoxine and pyrimethamine are components contained in anti malaria drugs like Fansidar®, Maloxine®,Amalar®Malariech®and others. They are contained in 500mg of sulphadoxine and 25mg of pyrimethamine. They catalyse the critical stages in the biosynthesis of folic acid. The research was carried out to determine the effect of sulphadoxine and pyrimethamine on habitual lateral phoria (HLP) and near point of convergence (NPC).OneHundred volunteers of either sex and age range of 18-29 were used for the researchwhile the visual parameters tested were the HLPat far and near and NPC before the intake of Fansidar®. These parameters were also determined 4hours post ingestion of Fansidar®. The analysis revealed that the intake of Fansidar® decreased the NPC by 13. 3%, caused no change in the LP at far in 70% of the subjects and 60% at near. Statistical analysis using Z-test showed no significant effect (
Method for optimising the performance of PML in anchor-loss limited model via COMSOL
Perfectly matched layer has been used for solving anchor-loss limited quality factor in the Micro electromechanical systems. However, setting up a well-behaved perfectly matched layer requires users to change the parameters of a perfectly matched layer to give correct results, while the current existing methods for choosing the right parameters are vague and lack theoretical support. Based on the mathematical theory of perfectly matched layer and simulation results of a beam structure's quality factor, this paper proposes a method for choosing the parameter to optimise the performance of perfectly matched layer in COMSOL. The accuracy of the proposed method is proved by matching the effect of substrate height on beam's quality factor with theory prediction. The author also studies the effect of beam height and beam width on the quality factor of the beam. The results demonstrate that simulated quality factors are in agreement with analytical values when the ratio of height over length is small but will show great divergence when height equals the length. This trend can be observed for the beam width as well. Especially for larger ratio of beam width over beam length, instead of decreasing monotonously as analytical equitation would expect, the simulated quality factor will converge into a stable value of 1700, which matches the result of two-dimensional model for the same beam structure. This means that a three-dimensional model has to be used for estimating the quality factor of a beam structure
The mainstream primary classroom as a language-learning environment for children with severe and persistent language impairment - implications of recent language intervention research
Many UK children with severe and persistent language impairment (SLI) attend local mainstream schools. Although this should provide an excellent language-learning environment, opportunities may be limited by difficulties in sustaining time-consuming, child-specific learning activities; restricted co-professional working, and the complex classroom environment. Two language intervention studies in mainstream Scottish primary schools showed children with SLI receiving intervention from speech and language therapists (SLTs) or their assistants made more progress in expressive language than similar children receiving intervention from education staff. Potential reasons for this difference are sought in the amount of tailored language-learning activity undertaken; how actively school staff initiated contact with SLTs; and the language demands of the classroom. Tailored language learning appears to be a differentiating factor. A language support model, reflecting views of teachers and SLTs about encouraging language development for children with SLI within the ecology of the mainstream primary classroom, is also outlined
The intellectual structure of political communication research: An author co-citation analysis.
This study applies a method of author co-citation analysis to examine intellectual structure of political communication study. Primarily based on the number of their articles in communication journals, fifty-one influential authors are selected from active members of the Political Communication Divisions of the International Communication Association (ICA), the National Communication Association (NCA), and the American Political Science Association (APSA). The results of the multidimensional scaling analysis and cluster analysis of these 51 selected authors' co-citation patterns show that intellectual fragmentation exists in political communication research; scholars with different academic backgrounds have their specialities of using a particular research approach to study certain subjects in the field; scholars do not have much information exchange, and thus they are intellectually separate and confined within the boundaries of each fragment. The findings of this quantitative study complements and cross-validates the assessment made by other traditional qualitative reviews about the field
