Modeling considerations about a microchannel heat sink
Many computational studies on hotspot microfluidic cooling devices found in the literature rely on simplified assumptions and conventions that do not capture the full complexity of the conjugate thermal problem, such as constant thermophysical fluid properties, radiation, and free air convection on the external walls. These assumptions are generally applied to typical microfluidic devices with a large number of microchannels and operating at Reynolds numbers between 100 and 1000. A one microchannel chip is a suitable starting point to analyze more systematically the implications of these assumptions, in particular at lower Reynolds numbers. Although it is a simpler system, it has been studied experimentally and numerically as a basic block of a thermal microfluidic device. In this work, we analyze the modeling of the overall heat transfer from a hotspot to a microfluidic heat sink, focusing on the effect of the different thermal transfer mechanisms (conduction, convection, and radiation), and temperature-dependent thermophysical properties of the fluid and the chip material. The study is developed as a function of the pressure difference applied to the system based on simulations performed using a finite volume method. Analyzing and comparing the different contributions to the energy losses, this work provides a critical discussion of the usually considered approximations, to make a reliable modeling of the overall thermal performance of a single rectangular straight channel embedded in a polydimethylsiloxane microfluidic chip.Fil: Chej, Lucas Gabriel. Thermal diode assisted by geometry under cycling temperature
Technological progress in electronics usually requires their use in increasingly aggressive environments, such as rapid thermal cycling and high power density. Thermal diodes appear as excellent candidates to thermally protect critical electronic components and ensure durability and reliability. We model the heat transport across a square plate with a hole subjected to an oscillating external temperature, such spatial and temporal symmetries are broken. We find rectification of the heat current that strongly depends on the frequency and the geometry of the hole. This system behaves as a thermal diode that could be used as part of a thermal architecture to dissipate heat under cycling temperature conditions.Fil: Zurdo, Luis Luciano. Commentary on the Models of Electronegativity
The concept of electronegativity is one of the most relevant concepts in the chemical sciences from the second half of the past century. It is used to understand the polarity of bonds, bond dipole moments, and bond energy differences, as well as to get a qualitative understanding of chemical processes. Electronegativity is not a physical observable, so it cannot be determined experimentally. This has led to the development of different formulations that are featured in both scientific papers and chemistry textbooks. On the basis of an article published in this Journal by Hurst, we analyze the recommendation made by the author concerning this topic from a scientific-philosophical viewpoint.
Em detrimento do silenciamento e das trocas culturais existentes para com as sociedade indígenas e a consequentemente toda a sua complexidade como grandes clãs étnicos altamente organizadosThe present study aims to analyze the work, “Dissertations on the history of the Mexican Republic from the time of the conquest that the Spanish people put an end to the 15th century and the early 16th century of the Islands and the American continent until independence (1844 -1849) ". VOLUME 1. From the conservative historian and politician Lucas Alamán (1792-1853), this source is understood as a response to the crisis with the present experienced by the author and by Mexico in the first half of the 19th century, marked by independence and the war against the USA. To understand the work in this way, the analysis of this source consists of the construction of the idea of European superiority in the American indigenous societies. We defend that in these expressions of emotional suffering, there are cultural changes reflected, which means a bigger presence of different psychic structures, other than the classical neurothic models, studied by Freud. Therefore, as a clinic practice, psychoanalysis shall observe how these changes affect emotional expressions. In addition, there is an investigation on how the opposition of two narrative groups, the psychoanalytic and the psychiatric, affects and interacts with these ways of suffering. The direction of this work begins, under a bibliographical revisions method, with the contextualization of what is around the rise of anxiety disorders rates in current culture, as much as the presence, in informative channels in general, of these labels, when talking about suffering. With this, we reached that much of this emotional suffering is related with a cultural pressure for performance and deliverance, aligned with a psychic lack of symbolic resources. That said, the next step is to review, in Freud and Winnicotts work, what is the contributions about anxiety psychopathologies of these two authors, referring to the importance of considering opening the clinical handling and set-up, from the tradicional interpretative way, more assertive on classical neurotic patients, to what is called the Empathic Style, which involves changes on the analysis conductio

Polyphony and the anxiety of influence in the fiction of Henry James
James's fiction, especially in the Middle Phase, centres
on the figure of the artist and is characterized by, the two
interrelated aspects which previous criticism has largely
overlooked: the Bakhtinian 'polyphonic' -creation of
'author-thinkers'; and the conflict between ephebes and
precursors, for which Harold-Bloom's concept of 'the-anxiety of
influence' is the most illuminating model. Polyphony is the
narrative mode, and influence is the intra-artistic, theme.
These, as the Introduction to the thesis makes clear, are
rehearsed in James's inaugural novel, Roderick Hudson. Rowland
Mallet is an author-thinker, and his failure is caused by
authorial limitations. His monologism -is impaired by his
mistaking empathy for the authorial sympathy. Likewise,
Hudson's failure does not arise from a mercurial temperament,
but from a polyphonic shortcoming: not possessing the power of
fiction to contain the fiction of power in, his mentor. And the
relationships among the three artists - Gloriani, Hudson and
Singleton - perfectly exemplify the Bloomian-theme. It is these
two concepts, polyphony and influence, which are the major
preoccupation in the Middle Phase; as, the works chosen
demonstrate. These are a novella, a novel, and a number of
short stories all of which have been unjustifiably neglected.
Chapter One, on The Aspern Papers, argues that Tina Bordereau,
far from being, the artless victim seen by many critics,
actually challenges and defeats the narrator by the very form
of her narrative. Her 'realist' discourse undermines his
language of 'romance', and shows up its internal unstability.
Chapter Two is an extensive study of the critical reception of
The Tragic Muse. The most common areas of critical attention
have been its contemporary topicality, its relation to previous
novels on similar themes, and the possible genealogy of Gabriel
Nash. Those have all missed the core of the work. - Chapter Three
demonstrates how polyphony and the anxiety of influence make
the novel what it really is. Influence arises from the
juxtaposition of, and the wrestling between, artistic ephebes
and their precursors (Nick and Nash,, Miriam and Madame Carre).
The dialogic quality defined by Bakhtin is crucial to the
proper, and even-handed, characterization of all, the conflicts
in the novel. And since most of James's tales in the eighties
and nineties -are about 'masters - and acolytes, the anxiety of
influence remains central. Chapter Four is a study of 'The
Author of Beltraffiol' and 'The Lesson of the Master'. Again the
characters' manipulations are a crucial focus in a way that
G6rard Genette's terminology helps to illuminate. The fact that
the ephebe is the author-thinker emphasizes the inextricability
of the Bakhtinian and the Bloomian in James. Just as
polyphony offers a different focus for explicating the poetics
of James's fiction; so the ephebal conflict provides the basis
for a fresh perception of James's own artistic struggle

Where to Find Them, writer J. In that geographical and temporal displacement, the movie develops a plot that takes back and dismantles the myth of the American dream in its different inflections.
