The Enlightenment in Bohemia: religion, morality and multiculturalism
Recent discussion of the European Enlightenment has tended to highlight its radical, atheist currents of thought and their relation to modernity, but much less attention has been paid to the importance of religion. Contributors to The Enlightenment in Bohemia redress this balance by focusing on the interactions of moral philosophy and Catholic theology in Central Europe. Bohemia’s vibrant plurality of cultures provides a unique insight into different manifestations of Enlightenment, from the Aufklärung of scholars and priests to the aristocratic Lumières and the Jewish Haskalah. Four key areas of interest are highlighted: the institutional background and media which disseminated moral knowledge, developments in secular philosophy, the theology of the Josephist Church and ethical debates within the Jewish Haskalah. At the centre of this fertile intellectual environment is the presence of Karl Heinrich Seibt, theologian and teacher, whose pupils and colleagues penetrated the diverse milieus of multicultural Bohemia. The Enlightenment in Bohemia brings fresh insights into the nature and transmission of ideas in eighteenth-century Europe. It reaffirms the existence of a religious Enlightenment, and replaces the traditional context of ‘nation’ with a new awareness of intersecting national and linguistic cultures, which has a particular relevance today. Bar-Kochba: a poem by Jaroslav Vrchlicki: (1894-1897)
Five years before he laid down his pen in 1908 due to illness, Jaroslav Vrchlický was the subject of a concise study by Jaromír Borecký (1903), later expanded in 1905. The author notes that Vrchlický’s extensive body of work cannot be fully presented in a single essay. By publishing the translation of his great work "Bar-Kochba", the translator aimed to acquaint readers with the poet’s life and works, relying on Borecký’s study and Jaroslav Kvapil’s introduction in the anthology "Czech Poetry of the 19th Century". From these sources, he provides information about the poet’s life and descriptions of his major works, highlighting Vrchlický as a leading figure of Czech poetry over the past thirty years. The subject of Bar-Kochba - the last independent ruler of Israel and leader of the final Jewish uprising against the overwhelming power of Rome - had long fascinated Vrchlický before he composed this poem.Život i djela Jaroslava Vrchlickoga: str. Analysis of short circuit conditions in traction circuits 25 kV 50 Hz with continuous supply and with converter power stations
This master thesis deals with analysis of short circuit conditions in traction circuits 25 kV 50 Hz with continuous supply and with combination of converter power stations and conventional power stations. Initially, the work deals with the parametrization of the traction circuit with continuous supply. This is followed by the creation of simulation models used for analysis of short circuit conditions in traction circuits and the comparison of calculated values with real measured values. The last part of the master thesis deals with the summary of theoretical information about distance protections and setting the characteristics of distance protections with help of simulation processing of indication of short circuits in the traction circuit.Dopravní fakulta Jana PerneraStudent komisi prezentoval svoji diplomovou práci Vyšetřování zkratových poměrů v trakčních obvodech 25kV 50Hz se spojitým napájením a s měničovými napájecími stanicemi.

Josef Jaroslav Kalina
The thesis focuses on the legacy of Josef Jaroslav Kalina, an author of the first half of the 19th century, today virtually unknown except for a few individual poems. Given that the author is forgotten, unpublished and without current critical reflection, the choice of the monographic orientation of the thesis was unambiguous. The aim of the thesis is to offer a synthesizing view of Kalin's work from several perspectives that we have identified as defining his work during the national revival. He is viewed in terms of his translations and linguistic insights. Central to the thesis is the analysis of his poems, which we draw mainly from the collected posthumous edition of his poems (1852).
