Assessment of geohazards and management of their possible impacts in the Kurbini region, Albania
The small region of Kurbini, situated in the north western part of Albania, faces various hazards, due to the particular geographical position marked by the close neighbourhood of the high mountains and the Adriatic Sea. The hydrological and hydrogeological hazards, the deterioration of the groundwater quality, the intense erosion of the soil, the local acidification/contamination/salinization of the soil, and the desertification of land, are the most important geohazards threatening the area. A complex monitoring of all identified risk factors is necessary in order to avoid catastrophic events and irreversible damages
När bok blir film… : En jämförande analys av boken och filmen Catch me if you can
Abstract Title: When book becomes film... – a comparative analysis of the book and film Catch me if you can (När bok blir till film…En jämförande analys av boken och filmen Catch me if you can) Number of pages: 46 Author: Majlinda Juniku Tutor: Amelie Hössjer Course: Media and Communication Studies C Period: Autumn term 2007 University: Division of Media and Communication, Department of Information Science, Uppsala University. Purpose/Aim: To study what model of dramaturgy belongs to the film Catch me if you can and to see what has been crossed out, altered and added from the book so the narrative will fit this model. Material/Method: The film Catch me if you can and the book with the same name has been used to analyze the differences between them. I have divided the differences into three categories: Crossed out, Altered and Added. In the analysis section these have been presented in each section of the film. Main results: Catch me if you can is definetly a film made with the design of the Anglosaxon model, mostly because of its timestructure and that it portrays an action and not just a condition which is normal in the epic-lyric model. Big parts of the story have been crossed out, altered and added to make the film more acceptabel to the audience. Most of the changeshad been done to make the story shorter to fit the timeframe of a film. Events had been joinedtogether to save time but not miss anything. A character, Hanratty, has been reinforced to create a cat-and-mouse story and add excitement to the film. Other changes have been made to make the main character seem more likeable to the audience. Keywords: book, film, dramaturgy, Catch me if you can, anglo-saxon, epic-lyri
Assessment of Wind Potential: The Case of Puka Region in Albania
More than any time in the past, renewable energy sources and specifically wind energy are a focus point for research scientists as well as national governments across the world. However, the successful implementation of wind energy projects requires a thorough understanding, study and evaluation of the wind potential in the area of interest. This research work evaluates the wind potential in the region of Puka, Albania based on data from actual terrain measurements over 14 months, as well as measurements spanning 13 years from two atlases (Wind Balkan Atlas and New European Wind Atlas), analysed using the WasP program. Distribution maps of wind speed and power density at 50m a.g.l. show that hill summits in this area are classified as V and VI wind power class. The New European Wind Atlas was closer than the Wind Balkan Atlas to real-life terrain measurements based on the values of wind speed and power density gathered from the 9 wind turbines in the studied area. Observed wind climate files from both atlases show a 300 deviation in wind direction compared to terrain measurements. Changing the wind farm layout design for the turbines according to the main wind direction significantly lowered wake losses

The socioeconomic role in linguistic and cultural identity preservation – the Albanian case in Italy
In this article, author explores the impact of ever changing social and economic environment in the preservation of cultural and linguistic identity, with a focus on Albanian community in Italy. Comparisons between first major migration of Albanians to Italy in the XV century and most recent ones in the XX, are drawn, with a detailed study on the use and preservation of native language as main identity trait. This comparison presented a unique case study as the descendants of Arbëresh (first Albanian major migration) came in close contact, in a very specific set of circumstances, with modern Albanians. Conclusions in this article are substantiated by the survey of 85 immigrant families throughout Italy. The Albanian language is considered one of the fundamental elements of Albanian identity. It was the foundation for the rise of the national awareness process during Renaissance. But the situation of Albanian language nowadays in Italy among the second-generation immigrants shows us a fragile identity
Effects of preschool education in preparing children for the first grade in terms of linguistic and mathematical development
The purpose of this research is to determine the level of children's readiness forthe first grade, in terms of mathematical and linguistic development. This research is quantitative and includes 466 children who were enrolled in the first grade in September2011, as well as their parents. They belong to various schools in towns and villages of Kosovo. The sample was randomly selected. Children are assessed for their intellectual readiness separately in mathematical and linguistic development through standardized measuring instrument by the "Brainline" author Joey Du Plooy . The questionnaire wastranslated and adapted. In this paper it will be focused only mathematical and linguistic development of children who have just started the first grade. Children are evaluated bya team of pedagogs who have been previously trained in the use of this questionnaire. Each child is individually assessed and the questions that were impossible to take from the children are taken from their parents. The survey results raise awareness about theimportance of preschool institutionalized education and provide advices of the importanceof preparing children for starting the first grade without fear and with self-esteem
Dialogues as an Involvement Strategy in Kadare’s novel "The Fall of the Stone City"
Discourse is not just a form of language use, but also a cognitive and social accomplishment within a communicative context. This article aims to interpret dialogues in Kadare’s novel The Fall of the Stone City through a combination of methods of discourse analysis and conversation analysis. The object of this analysis are the direct dialogues, in which characters are represented through their own voice, and where the narrator evades his/her own intervention during the transmission of the character’s sensory experience and does not give to the reader an indication of any sort of privileged information regarding the condition of the character. The central focus of this analysis is involvement strategies, as the basic principle in both conversational and literary discourse. The spoken genre is characterized by fragmentation and involvement, whereas the written genre is characterized by integration and detachment. The comparison of spoken and written narratives suggests that normal conversation and literary discourse have many similarities between them. The examination of the dialogues in Kadare’s novel The Fall of the Stone City clearly shows that the author combines involvement with integration in building scenes and triggering emotions. He uses familiar strategies, like repair and repetition in creating coherence and involvement, which are intentional in creating meaning
Stock Companies in Kosovo
Abstract: Law on Business Organizations recognizes the stock companies as the type of business society. The paper will use methods of analysis, method of comparison, method of systemic analysis, etc. In addition to these methods author will use the combined methodology in order to reach the main goal of the paper. If the stock companies belong to business societies, the after their registration what is their legal arrangement? According to the Law on Business Organizations, the stock companies could have only one shareholder and many or a lot of them. Each shareholder has its shares which is the property of the shareholder. Shares could be transferred from a shareholder to other judicial/physic persons. The founding capital of stock companies is determined by the law. This society is judicial person which is responsible for all its obligations and for these obligations it is responsible with its assets and its property. Personal property of shareholders doesn’t contain the property of shareholders companies. Shareholder is responsible for society with its wealth only if shareholder abuses with the shareholder company. Paper analyzes competences in the society and the duration of foundation, then statute, memorandum an regulations of the society are analyzed is analyzed. Author with the paper covers and analyzes the founding capital and the organs of the stock companies, always determined by the law. Paper also explains the ways of the dissolution of the stock companies.
Graphene Derivatives as Efficient Transducing Materials for Covalent Immobilization of Biocomponents in Electrochemical Biosensors
This review highlights the role of graphene derivatives in advancing electrochemical biosensors for applications in diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and industrial sensing. Graphene derivatives, including graphene oxide (GO), reduced GO, and wide range of graphenes prepared via fluorographene chemistry, represent a prominent class of transducing materials in electrochemical biosensor development. Their ability to support covalent immobilization of biocomponents ensures stability, specificity, and long-term performance, addressing limitations of noncovalent methods. Advances in fabrication, such as laser-assisted reduction, enable scalable and cost-effective production of conductive graphene-based electrodes. Covalent functionalization techniques, like carbodiimide coupling and click chemistry, facilitate integration with bioreceptors, leading to highly selective biosensors. Emerging approaches, including inkjet printing of graphene-based inks onto eco-friendly substrates, promise sustainable and portable diagnostic devices. These advances support biosensors aligned with modern and sustainable technologies. Future efforts must focus on scalable production, improved multiplexing, and environmental sustainability to fully harness the potential of graphene derivatives in electrochemical biosensors. This work was supported by the ERDF/ESF project TECHSCALE (grant no. Development Refractoriness of MLL-Rearranged Human B Cell Acute Leukemias to Reprogramming into Pluripotency
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are a powerful tool for disease modeling. They are routinely generated from healthy donors and patients from multiple cell types at different developmental stages. However, reprogramming leukemias is an extremely inefficient process. Few studies generated iPSCs from primary chronic myeloid leukemias, but iPSC generation from acute myeloid or lymphoid leukemias (ALL) has not been achieved. We attempted to generate iPSCs from different subtypes of B-ALL to address the developmental impact of leukemic fusion genes. OKSM(L)-expressing mono/polycistronic-, retroviral/lentiviral/episomal-, and Sendai virus vector-based reprogramming strategies failed to render iPSCs in vitro and in vivo. Addition of transcriptomic-epigenetic reprogramming “boosters” also failed to generate iPSCs from B cell blasts and B-ALL lines, and when iPSCs emerged they lacked leukemic fusion genes, demonstrating non-leukemic myeloid origin. Conversely, MLL-AF4-overexpressing hematopoietic stem cells/B progenitors were successfully reprogrammed, indicating that B cell origin and leukemic fusion gene were not reprogramming barriers. Global transcriptome/DNA methylome profiling suggested a developmental/differentiation refractoriness of MLL-rearranged B-ALL to reprogramming into pluripotency
