A religião e a formação do cidadão: um estudo sobre a obra Ensino religioso e ensino leigo de Leonel Franca
No full textO objetivo desse trabalho é discutir a importância do Ensino Religioso nas escolas públicas brasileiras a partir da obra Ensino Religioso e Ensino Leigo de Leonel Franca publicada em 1931 com a finalidade de garantir constitucionalmente o retorno do Ensino Religioso nas escolas. Leonel Franca empenhou-se a fim de reinseri-lo nos bancos escolares por acreditar que tal ensino é indispensável à formação moral do cidadão. Sua obra traz elementos acerca da educação moral e de sua interferência no âmbito social. Utiliza pesquisas empíricas e deixa sempre em evidência que as sociedades adeptas ao Ensino Religioso tinham números de criminalidade muito baixos em comparação com as escolas laicizadas, resultado de uma educação integral que auxilia na formação da consciência moral sendo esta uma questão ético-religiosa que repercute na vida social. Desse modo é imprescindível que o aluno encontre respostas a questionamentos que todo o ser humano se faz durante a sua vida, no que se refere a sua finalidade, destino e além-túmulo. Esse trabalho preocupou-se em considerar o contexto ao qual o autor esteve inserido, bem como as principais influências que nortearam o seu trabalhoThe objective of this paper is to discuss the importance of the religious teaching in Brazilian public schools based on the book "Lay Religious Education and Teaching" by Leonel Franca, published in 1931 in order to constitutionally guarantee the return of religious education in schools. Leonel Franca strove to reinsert religious education believing that the religious teaching is indispensable for the moral formation of the citizen. His work brings elements about moral education and it s interference in social scope. It uses empirical research and leaves in evidence showing a society that had religious teachings had a low index of criminal activity compared to the ones which did not. The result of a comprehensive education like this helps in the formation of moral conscience, thus being an ethical-religious question that resonates in social life. John Dunstable and Leonel Power : a stylistic comparison.
No full textThis thesis is an attempt to define and compare the styles
of two English composers active early in the fifteenth
century - John Dunstable and Leonel Power. The two are
commonly confused in the surviving manuscript sources of
their music and to date there has been no reliable method
for the determination of authorship in cases of
conflicting attribution.
Part One of the investigation consists of an analysis
of works which bear uncontradicted ascriptions. The
information is used to set up a database for each of the
composers. The analysis is largely computer-aided and
covers aspects of form, pitch, range, chord structure,
melodic structure, speed, text setting and cadence
progressions.
Part Two compares a variety of uncertain works
against the databases and in each case employs the
statistical method of Discriminant Analysis to calculate
which of the two composers is more likely to be
responsible for the composition. In all of the six pieces
with ascriptions to both men, the results indicate the
likely author to a probability of over 1.00. The data are
also used to assess many anonymous pieces and mass pairs

No full textDissertação de Mestrado em Literaturas Lusófonas Comparadas apresentada à Universidade AbertaO objectivo central do presente trabalho é a análise comparativa do
romance A Selva de Ferreira de Castro, publicado em 1930 e do filme homónimo
de Leonel Vieira, realizado em 2002.
Assim, na primeira parte, «Ferreira de Castro: autor, obra e contexto» procedemos
à contextualização histórico-literária da obra e do seu autor. Abordámos,
igualmente, a questão da emigração por se tratar de um tema recorrente na obra do
ficcionista, e de especial relevância no romance em estudo. Considerámos, ainda,
oportuno lembrar a estreita ligação que o escritor manteve com o cinema, uma vez
que nos debruçámos sobre a adaptação cinematográfica de uma das suas obras.
Na segunda parte, «A Selva, de Leonel Vieira» referimo-nos aos aspectos
que precederam a concretização do filme: a produção, a realização e a rodagem.
Com a apresentação dos elementos estruturais da linguagem cinematográfica,
reunimos as ferramentas que nos permitiram analisar a obra fílmica e estabelecer a
comparação com a obra romanesca. Procurámos, ainda, clarificar que adaptar não
significa «transcodificar literalmente» uma obra noutra, visto que a uma
adaptação subjaz a interpretação, que proporcionará o nascimento de uma nova
obra, independente, mesmo que se lhe reconheçam os traços daquela que lhe
serviu de modelo.
Na terceira parte, «Diálogo entre romance e filme», ao analisarmos
comparativamente o romance e o filme, estabelecemos os pontos de convergência
e de divergência que resultaram da adaptação da obra literária. A nossa atenção
centrou-se no percurso da personagem Alberto, o protagonista, que, distante da
pátria, circundado por um espaço que lhe é adverso, vai consumando a viagem da
sua auto-revelação, tendo contribuído para esse fim último todos aqueles que se
cruzaram com ele, ao longo da sua estada na Amazónia. Em suma, procurámos
dar conta de como estes aspectos são contados no romance e no filme, tendo em
consideração a especificidade de cada uma destas linguagensThe main purpose of this work is a comparative analysis of the novel A
Selva (The Forest) by Ferreira de Castro, published in 1930, and the homonym
film directed by Leonel Vieira, in 2002.
Part one, «Ferreira de Castro: author, work and context», deals with the
historical-literary contextualization of the work and of its author. It approaches
similarly the problem of immigration because it is a theme that appears frequently
in the fictionist’s work, and with special relevance at the novel that we are
studying. It was, also, appropriate to remember the close connection that the
writer maintained with the movies, since it talks about the cinematographic
adaptation of one of his works.
The second part, «A Selva, by Leonel Vieira», refers the aspect that
preceded the making of the movie: production, directing and shooting. Presenting
the structural elements of the cinematographic language, one tried to assemble the
tools that allows to analyze the filmic work, and to set a comparison with the
romanesque work. Trying, also, to clarify that adaptation does not mean
«transcribe literally» one work into another, since to an adaptation underlies an
interpretation that will provide the arising of a new work, independent, even
though it is possible to recognise the lines of the one that served as a model.
In the third part, «Dialogue between the novel and the film», the intention
was to go ahead with the comparative analysis of the novel and the movie,
establishing the points of convergence and divergence that outcome from the
adaptation of the literary work. The focus is on the course of Alberto, the
protagonist: far-away from his homeland, surrounded by a space that is
antagonistic to him, he is achieving the trip of his self-revelation, realizing that
everyone that cross his path, while he was in Amazonia, made some contributions
to this achievement. Summing up, it has been tried to explain how these aspects
are narrated in the novel and in the movie, considering the specificity of each one
of these language

Although many Ni0/NiII systems have been reported as potential species in catalysis, newer studies suggest that their odd-electron NiI/NiIII counterparts are also viable catalytic intermediates. Our goal is to isolate these rare oxidation states especially those containing organometallic intermediates. Herein, we discuss the isolation of key Ni intermediates in the +1, +2, and +3 oxidation states supported by various N-based macrocycles.
In this work, we provide direct evidence for a NiI/NiII/NiIII catalytic cycle by using a bulky 1,4,7-triisopropyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane ligand (iPr3TACN). The oxidation of the corresponding NiII-dimethyl complex with weak oxidants yields a paramagnetic NiIII-dimethyl complex that was characterized by EPR. In addition, reductive elimination of ethane in quantitative yields was detected by NMR, while a direct formation of NiI species was observed by carefully monitoring the 2e- transformation by EPR. In addition, various NiI species were characterized via EPR and reactivity tested. The combined results further confirmed that the bulky iPr3TACN ligand framework can stabilize Ni in several oxidation states that are relevant for cross-coupling catalysis.
Furthermore, two new classes of macrocyclic ligands and their ability to stabilized high- valent Ni centers have been studied. The first class includes chiral macrocyclic ligands that have been successfully synthesized and characterized. The R*N3CBr and R*N4 (R* = phenethyl, PE or methylneopentyl, MeNp) pyridinophanes allowed for the isolation of various Ni complexes including the rare high-valent [(PEN3C)NiIII(MeCN)2](PF6)2 complex. The reactivity of the chiral Ni complexes has been tested demonstrating slight enantioselectivity induced by the chiral ligands.
In addition, a second class of cross-bridged cyclam/cyclen macrocyclic ligands was studied as their Ni(II)Cl2 complexes demonstrated accessible high-valent Ni(III) species.
To conclude, preliminary results have shown the (iPr3TACN)Ni complexes are efficient catalysts in the Kumada coupling reactions of alkyl electrophiles with alkyl Grignards, raising the possibility of exploring other types of cross-coupling reactions. In addition, the iPr3TACN ligand framework has allowed for the isolation of a novel [(iPr3TACN)NiIIMe]PF6, a Ni-monomethyl complex that has been elusive with RN4 (R = Me, iPr, tBu) and MeTACN ligand systems. The isolation of this complex opens the possibility of exploring a more bioinorganic side of the iPr3TACN, as Ni–Me complexes are proposed as key intermediates CODH/acetyl coenzyme A synthase (ACS) and methyl coenzyme M reductase (MCR) systems
