Sobre a terra como acontecimento: Geofilosofia e estética na arte de Romy Castro
No full textThe aim of this article is to analyse the works of art of Romy Castro that started in 2012 entitled «The Earth as an event». If, at the time of the creation of the series, «Memories of the black Earth» some signs of the potential use of the pictorial materials that would come to generate future works were already guessed, it is at the end of 2019 that we see consecrating, if not sacralising this primordial relationship between man and earth, which is, after all the event, phenomenon that rediscovery the visible and the unspeakable that happens on Earth. An analysis that reflect critically and theoretically, on the one hand, on the materials that the artist uses for the production of works of art and on the other hand, on the artist's thought, as creator and essayist. In this sense, it can be affirmed that one is in the presence of a geophilosophy that thinks about the Earth and that gives rise to another aesthetic practice that involves seeing and listening maters.Pretende-se com este artigo fazer uma análise às obras de arte de Romy Castro iniciadas em 2012 e intituladas «A Terra como acontecimento». Se no momento da criação da série, «Memórias daterra negra» se adivinhavam já alguns traços sobre o potencial uso das matérias pictóricas que viriam a gerar as futuras obras, é no final de 2019 que vemos consagrar, senão mesmo sacralizar essa relação primordial entre o homem e a terra, que é afinal o acontecimento, fenómeno que redescobre o visível e o indizível que se dá na Terra. Uma análise que reflecte critica e teoricamente, por um lado, sobre as matérias que a artista usa para a produção das obras de arte epor outro lado, sobre o pensamento da artista, enquanto criadora e ensaísta. Research Note: The Coverage of War: Do Women Matter? A Longitudinal Content Analysis of Broadsheets in Germany
Get PDFOur social consciousness reserves the role of fighter solely for men. Women are not considered as being authoritative or decisive actors in the context of war and violence. During armed conflicts or other violent crises, female acting subjects seem to leave the public (i.e. media) stage – a place where they are underrepresented even under normal circumstances. Furthermore, media coverage of war, it is said, largely assigns the role of the victim to women. However, there is not much empirical evidence to support this view due to the significant lack of longitudinal quantitative studies on media coverage of women during wartime. In order to investigate this, a framing analysis of media coverage of war between 1989 and 2000 was conducted in Germany. This article reports on the results of this framing analysis and the representation of women during wartime in quality German newspapers. It is the first longitudinal gender-specific framing analysis of war coverage ever carried out in any country

Get PDFDepois de termos apreendido várias perspetivas extensionais de Terra/Espaço,
e de termos capturado diferente matérias da Terra, que se aprofundaram e se
disseminaram no nosso projeto artístico pessoal, designado “A Terra Como
Acontecimento”, construído nas dimensões de pintura, instalação, fotografia e filme,
parte-se agora para uma continuidade do discurso metodológico, aquela que aproxima a
picturalidade de conotações ontológicas com o espaço e com a matéria, determinando
assim, a criação de novas fronteiras-limite, isto é, determinando um encontro de
desterritorialização entre geografia, topologia e filosofia. Conceitos espaciais
particularmente significativos param a reflexão sobre as artes contemporâneas em geral e
sobre a nossa arte em específico; como forma de articular os limites espaciais com que a
arte se confronta, especialmente esta arte com matérias da Terra, e como forma de balizar
concetualmente a distribuição das imagens do pensamento no espaço, para estabelecer o
seu desenho e o inscrever posteriormente numa análoga articulação, a que apreende
potencialmente a espacialidade dentro de outra reflexão, a geofilosófica, permitindo deste
modo que a ideia de substância de mundo se torne no fio condutor para a inscrição destas
noções no nosso ensaio.After having learned several extensional perspectives of Earth/Space, and of
having captured different materials of the Earth, which have been deepened and diffused
in our personal artistic project called “The Earth as an Event”, build in the painting,
installation, photography and film dimensions, we set off to a continuity of the
methodological discourse, the one that draws together the ontological connotations with
the space and material, determining, thus, the creation of new boundaries, that is,
determining an encounter with the desterritorialisation between geography, topology and
philosophy. Special concepts particularly significant to the reflection about
contemporary arts and about our art specifically; as a way to articulate the special
boundaries with which art confronts itself, especially this art with materials of the Earth,
and the way to conceptually limit the distribution of the images of the thought in space,
to establish its drawing and inscribe itself afterwards in a similar articulation, the one
that potentially apprehends the spatiality within other reflection, the geophilosophical
one, thus allowing the idea of the substance of the world become the main theme to the

A Terra como Acontecimento. A Pintura interpelada pelo Cinema em torno do filme "A Terra como Acontecimento"
Get PDFEsta comunicação inscreve-se num projeto em curso sobre as matérias da “Terra” que se tem desdobrado na investigação dos materiais, no espaço pictural e na instalação, intitulado “A Terra como Acontecimento”. A recusa intencional da representação e narratividade, o uso das matérias tendem a abalar as fronteiras dos géneros. Por exemplo, a acumulação das tintas leva a uma espessura que a torna numa quase escultura. Dada a essencial mudez das artes plásticas a transposição para o cinema das 3 séries em que se desdobra este projecto cria um espaço outro que originando-se na pintura a alegoriza criando uma espécie de “nova-terra” (Deleuze), que prolonga o pictural geoesteticamente. Trata-se de um duplo movimento, da pintura para o cinema e vice-versa, que ilumina a pintura revelando a natureza do acontecimento da terra. A possibilidade de um habitar outro que começa sempre num retorno ao mais arcaico, ou seja, “A Terra como Acontecimento”. Mortalidad por quemaduras en el Hospital Provincial Universitario “Arnaldo Milián Castro”
Get PDFIntroduction: burns are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in most countries. Objetive: to characterize mortality in patients hospitalized for burns. Method: a retrospective longitudinal descriptive study was conducted at the Burn Unit of "Arnaldo Milián Castro" Hospital from 2009 to 2014. The sample consisted of 68 cases. The variables were: age group, sex, previous illnesses, life prognosis, complications, medicolegal etiology, direct cause of death and hospital stay. Results: 44.1% of those who died were over 60 years, dominated women sex (60.3%), medicolegal etiology in 73.6% of cases was suicide predominated death among those with chronic diseases such as cardiovascular (41.2%) and psychiatric (29.6%), 52.9% had inhaled syndrome, 51.3% anemia and 45.6% local sepsis, direct causes of death more frequent were hypovolemic shock (39.7%) in the first 72 hours of evolution, septic shock (19.1%) among the quarter and 12 day of stay, pulmonary embolism and septic schok among those with more than 15 days (8.8%), the 61.8% of death presented forecast of extreme critic and 27.9% of critic and most of the deaths occurred between the fourth and the fifteenth day of stay. Conclusions: the complications and the most frequent causes of death were similar to international reports and the medicolegal etiology most frequent was suicide, which differed from the reported internationally, because accident was predominant in burn patients.Introducción: las quemaduras constituyen una importante causa de morbilidad y mortalidad en la mayoría de los países. Objetivo: caracterizar la mortalidad en pacientes ingresados por quemaduras. Método: estudio descriptivo longitudinal retrospectivo que se realizó en la Unidad de quemados del Hospital “Arnaldo Milián Castro” desde el año 2009 al 2014. La muestra estuvo conformada por 68 casos. Las variables fueron: grupo de edades, sexo, enfermedades previas, pronóstico de vida, complicaciones, etiología médico-legal, causa directa de muerte y estadía hospitalaria. Resultados: el 44.1% de los fallecidos fueron mayores de 60 años, predominó el sexo femenino (60.3%), la etiología médico-legal en el 73.6% de los casos fue el suicidio, predominó el fallecimiento entre aquellos con enfermedades crónicas como las cardiovasculares (41.2%) y las psiquiátricas (29.6%), el 52.9% presentó síndrome inhalatorio, el 51.3% anemia y el 45.6% sepsis local, las causas directas de muerte más frecuentes fueron el choque hipovolémico (39.7%) en las primeras 72 horas de evolución, el choque séptico (19.1%) entre el cuarto y el 12 día de estadía, el tromboembolismo pulmonar y el choque séptico entre aquellos con más de 15 días (8.8%), el 61.8% de los fallecidos presentaron pronóstico de crítico extremo y el 27.9% de crítico y la mayoría de los decesos se presentaron entre el cuarto y el decimoquinto día de estadía. Conclusiones: las complicaciones y las causas de muerte más frecuentes resultaron similares a los informes internacionales y la etiología médico-legal más frecuente fue el suicidio, que difirió de lo informado internacionalmente, pues el accidente fue el que predominó en pacientes quemados
