Analisi archeologica del Sepolcreto della Chiesa della Beata Vergine Annunciata in Ca’ Granda. Un approccio stratigrafico

    No full text
In 2019, the University of Milan started an interdisciplinary project concerning the archaeological excavation and anthro pological study of the remains inside the Ca’ Granda sepulchral chambers. The crypt of the Church of the Beata Vergine Annun ciata is constituted of 14 underground chambers that were used during the 17th century as burial areas. In a preliminary phase, a survey of all the underground chambers was organized, in or der to graphically and photographically document their con servation, using photogrammetry. Once the survey operations were completed, the excavation was undertaken inside one of the largest chambers, named O. The excavation was conducted with stratigraphic methods, and the layers were identified by observing the conservation, the colors and the orientation of the bones. It was then possible to establish that the chambers were primary burial places instead of ossuaries

The 3D Survey of the Kline of Hochdorf. An example of integration between archaeology and new technologies

The new studies on the so-called Kline of Hochdorf have launched a project of interdis ciplinary research, conducted both with an historical-archaeological and technological approach, aimed at giving birth to an analysis that could embrace multiple scientific fields. In support of the project was provided the reali zation of a 3D real-based model of the Kline, that would allow both the acquisition of data in a non-invasive way, because the object can not be touched, and the production of an over all view, since it is not entirely reassembled. In this context, our work was related to the man agement and processing of all the computers and the photographic data already produced, in order to create orthophotos, plans and the matic maps for some essays in this volume; in addition, to enrich the amount of available data, more detailed surveys of some parts of the Kline,2 by using photogrammetry,3 were also planned

Sperlonga (LT): indagini nella “Villa della Grotta”. Campagna di scavo 2014

In September 2014 the University of Milan, under the direction of Prof. Fabrizio Slavazzi and in collaboration with the Superintendency for Archaeological Heritage of Lazio, conducted new excavations on the site of Sperlonga (LT). The activities were concentrated in the so-called "Villa della Grotta", especially in the hilly portion called Area V. In this part, in correspondence of Rooms V12 and V15, the excavation allowed the identification of an important sequence of transformations that, between the first and the fifth century AD, characterized this part of the villa. We are now able to qualify the area at a functional level, and re-define the northern limit of the original phase of the complex

The new archaeological excavations in the Ca’ Granda Cemetery in Milan concerned one of the fourteen sepulchral chambers located under the Church of Beata Vergine Annunciata. The excavation of a small part of the deposit, applying the stratigraphic method, has highlighted a complex situation, characterized by the presence of partially or entirely articulated skeletonised bodies. This condition testifies that the crypt was a primary site of deposition.

Since the year 2003 the University of Milan has been working in collaboration with the Scuola Archeologica Italiana in Athens and the local Eforia at Gortys on the excavation of a Roman bath complex that has recently been dubbed the “Terme Milano”. This study focuses on the main phases in the life of the building, in relation of course with the long and lively history of the city

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
