    No full text

    The Dandy (Verzet): 6

This is a delightful selection of acerbic, wryly funny stories about modern relationships, queer love, and non-monogamy. In what might be considered a keystone story, 'The Sociologist', the author of a self-help book is repeatedly invited to give lectures to ‘debunk love’ but doesn’t really believe any of the things she says. Then 'The Female Dandy' of the title is a fictional journalistic feature about the rise and fall of a lesbian/feminist literary magazine and the infighting between the performatively stylish, performatively principled three women presiding. 'Remaining Isolde' depicts a straight couple’s forays into non-monogamy where it soon becomes apparent that while neither is really happy with their arrangement they feel compelled to pursue it all the same. In 'No Petting' a woman considers her own life while visiting a zoo and 'What Is It You Want to Know?' sees an elderly mother struggle with her grown daughter’s refusal to acknowledge her relationship with another woman

The process of leaching of zinc (Zn) generates significant amounts of solid waste in the form of jarosite, produced for removing iron (Fe) and sulfate of the solutions of Zn, which are stored in waste dams. This thesis is a study of jarosites from a refinery plant in Mexico, which aims to mitigate this environmental liability, for which the jarosite was characterized by various techniques and reported content of silver (Ag) of 357 g / t gold (Au) of 0.76 g / t, and a D80 particle size of 19 microns, with the first tests cyanidation was confirmed its refractory nature and stability were evaluated therefore alkaline decomposition processes at temperatures between 30 to 90 ˚ C, to release the Ag and obtain recoveries of 99.9% Ag at 6 hours into the process. Addition of cyanide was evaluated using thiosulfate and thiourea as leaching agents for Ag Sodium thiosulfate is presented as the best option with a recovery of 99.4% at 2.5 hours into the process considering the time of decomposition, and low toxicity of the reagent. Were characterized and also evaluated the mobility of elements of the waste generated was found that the decomposition process alkaline-simultaneous leaching are within existing environmental standards, for the thermal decomposition process and leaching with thiosulfate were found high levels of Cu, Zn, Fe and Pb which suggest that a longer require washing prior to disposal, its composition was reported hematite and magnetite that could be used in new applications.Tesi

Symptoms of the disease can develop slowly since the early childhood and will result in developing both hydrocephalus and anomalies related to the structure of the cerebellum. The etiology of Dandy-Walker syndrome is not known. Aim of this work is to present the health situation of the patients with Dandy-Walker syndrome in Poland. Material and methods The research was conduncted from December 2011 to April 2012 and involved the group of wards of the ‘Podaj Dalej’ Dandy-Walker Syndrome Foundation who live on the territory of Poland. Overall, 36 people were examined: 15 boys and 21 girls.  Results and conclusions Reaching the patients with Dandy-Walker syndrome is very difficult because it is a rarely occurring congenital defect, recognized usually by accident. However, the complexity of problems evolving from this disease brings the necessity of expanding the studies in many areas so they could be compared to the studies conducted in other countries. Results of this type of studies will be useful in a correct orientation of treatment and widely understood rehabilitation of patients with Dandy-Walker syndrome as well as education both families and the patients

The renaissance of the dandy in Christian Kracht’s work : the dandy as a social figure and habitus in Faserland, 1979 and Ich werde hier sein im Sonnenschein und im Schatten

    No full text
This master thesis examines on the basis of Christian Krachts novels Faserland, 1979 and Ich werde hier sein im Sonnenschein und im Schatten the renaissance of the social figure of the dandy in German contemporary literature. The dandy figure, concise characteristics and the dandy habitus are analysed from a literature-sociological point of view. The analysis is embedded in the fields Cultural Studies and pop culture. The meaning of the word “dandy” is described, the history of the dandy figure is told and well-known dandies are shown. By means of a catalogue which includes dandy attributes, the dandy figures of the novels are studied. “New” and “old” dandy figures are juxtaposed in terms of gender, habitus, aesthetics, space and time. Christian Krachts dandy figures are checked under the following aspects: the unreliable narrator, the flaneur, the transhuman and the Black Dandy. The most decisive difference between “old” and “new” dandies is that their sphere of action has expanded from class towards gender and race. Terms like “effeminacy”, “performativity” and “Camp” were discussed beforehand. Furthermore, the dandies spaces have changed from the urban boulevards to airports, slums and parties. Christian Krachts literary figures use the dandy as a mask among many others. The author persona Christian Kracht and the literary figures have a strong dandy potential. The most striking feature of the “new” dandy figures is the fact that they are becoming more and more machines, cyborgs and finally works of art.vorgelegt von Katharina Wiesler, Bakk. philZusammenfassungen in Deutsch und EnglischAbweichender Titel laut Übersetzung des Verfassers/der VerfasserinMasterarbeit Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz 2019 2133
