the Art of Being Alone (2016), Olivia Laing.
é mesmo a condição para o encontro.ABSTRACT - In this report the reader can find a reflection on the creative process, the various phases of the
project, the longings of a young artist and the adventures involved in the construction of the
play Cidade Solitária (Teatro Taborda, 2022). In the field of studies of this report, it seeks to
reflect on what it is to stage and be a stage director, on devised theatre practices. It seeks to
think about what an artistic process and the construction phases of a play is. This is a project
of an autobiographical nature, which, however, does not want to remain only in the personal
field but rather embrace the collective, and which takes as its starting point the book Lonely
City: Adventures in the Art of Being Alone (2016), Olivia Laing. It is, therefore, a travel text,
in which solitude is the very condition for the encounter.N/
In this text I argue that a certain concept of criticism fostered by Friedrich Schlegel and the early German romantics is worth recovering for a consideration of the problem of subjectivity. I start by outlining the concept of criticism by Schlegel as it is presented by Walter Benjamin in his The Concept of Art Criticism in German Romanticism (1920). Here I stress three aspects of the abovementioned concept: the immanent dimension of the art work’s judgement criteria; the preparation of the prosaic nucleus of the art work; and the critical gesture as positive, creative, and as a restitution of the individual work to the infinitude of art. I conclude by articulating this notion of criticism with the idea of “sympoetry” proposed by Schlegel and other early romantics, sustaining that these notions can contribute to a resistance vocabulary and discourse in the context of contemporary subjectivity mass production
This thesis analyses the experience of a group of blind people as public in two theatres in Lisbon between December 2019 and February 2022.
In the First Part, the document presents the philosophical and psychosocial lines that addressed blindness and translates “The worlds of blindness” where the blind’s experience develops. The analysis of blindness from a normovisual and non-normative perspective reveals an existential condition of liminality between two worlds, conditioned by the act of seeing as a power, that presents a similarity to the aesthetic experience. With the social model of disability, blindness is presented as an existential difference, an equanimous condition with other differences. For this equity in theater, it is proposed a new identity for the blind person with the neologism “normoblind”.
The Second Part, “The worlds of theater”, presents the theatrical events in which the “normoblind” can participate as part of a community. The experience narrated by the “normoblind” is analysed with reception studies led by Erika Fischer-Lichte, the scene-audience relationship under the approach of affections carried out by Ana Pais and with the philosophical approaches of theater as a place of invisibilities. The neologism “hapsorber” is presented to translate the action of the “normoblind” audience in a theater as a temple of making predictions, by retaining and sustaining a landscape as it would be a theasthai.
The Third Part presents three fieldwork diaries in a play, in a meeting between artists with and without disabilities promoted by the investigation and the experience in cultural spaces analysed by the research group. As three “ruins” of fieldwork that, together, are useful “for a world imagined with difference”, the Third Part meets one of the objectives outlined by this investigation and offers practical resources for the management and theater creation that want to be committed to difference

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
The subject of the following lines is the theatre, the problem of the theatre artists education to be more precise. I present a discussion about the possibility of a certain notion of presence being able to guide theatre teaching and learning within higher education institutions. To do this I use a composite methodology: I discuss texts by Josette Féral, Hans-Thies Lehmann, Jacques Rancière, Anatoli Vassiliev, Tim Etchells and Giorgio Agamben; I analyse educational situations observed at the Departamento de Teatro of the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (IPLPortugal), at the Departamento de Artes Cênicas from the Escola de Comunicações e Artes (USPBrazil), at the Performing Arts Department from the School of Film, Television & Performing Arts (LMUEngland) and at the Drama Department from the Exeter University (England), considering with more detail the practice of Alexander Kelly and Phillip Zarrilli, working in these two last institutions; and, I do an exegesis of the practice as research project da beleza ou o sistema nervoso dos peixes developed with the directors pedagogues António Januzelli (Brazil) and Carlos J. Pessoa (Portugal), presented at the Teatro Taborda (LisbonPortugal) and Espaço Viga (São PauloBrazil). This methodology allows me to propose a curricular design for a practice based module on theatre centred on three main areas of problematization: psychophysical acting, devising and emancipation of the theatre artist
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
