Advances in atomic physics Four decades of contribution of the Cairo University – Atomic Physics Group
AbstractIn this review article, important developments in the field of atomic physics are highlighted and linked to research works the author was involved in himself as a leader of the Cairo University – Atomic Physics Group. Starting from the late 1960s – when the author first engaged in research – an overview is provided of the milestones in the fascinating landscape of atomic physics
Work and Impact Under the MOA Between OSU and Cairo University
IMPACT. 1: Through collaboration OSU has established a prominent presence in Cairo University. Scholars on Egyptian government scholarship come to OSU for research. More students are applying for a Ph.D. at OSU. -- 2. Atomic astrophysics course by Sultana Nahar is very popular as it also provides exposure to current research interests. Participants from various institutions attending the course are interested in collaborative efforts. -- 3. Cairo University attracts African and Middle Eastern countries for degrees and holds international conferences. These international members, such as, from Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Oman, Yemen, Iraq, came to know about the OSU-Cairo University MOA and activities, and are interested in having an MOA with OSU.OSU PARTNERS: Astronomy; Physics; Medicine; Center for Middle Eastern StudiesCOMMUNITY PARTNERS: Cairo University is under the MOA. However there are about 15 universities and institutions unofficially connected and interested in OSU.PRIMARY CONTACT: Sultana N Nahar ([email protected])The MOA between between OSU and Cairo University was signed in 2012. The active collaboration is in laser experiments, plasma opacity and atomic physics calculations, OSU plays the role training at Cairo University through delivering research-based atomic astrophysics courses with computational workshops using the facilities of Ohio Supercomputer Center and research guidance to students. About 15 institutions in and around Cairo are now affiliated to OSU through member participation in the course

Assessing Readiness for e-Health in Egypt : A Case study of Cairo University Hospitals
Implementing E-Health can improve quality of care by increasing accessibility to patient health records, improving governance and administration, and integrating health information into an organized system. However, before implementation occurs, E-Readiness Assessment is an important tool used to evaluate an organization\u27s likelihood of successful adoption. Cairo University Hospitals are still in early stages of implementation, and measures to improve E-Readiness would contribute to the transition from an almost complete lack of health information accessibility to successful adoption of an electronic system. This paper discusses how Cairo University Hospitals would be able to raise the quality of service delivery through E-Readiness and successful implementation of E-Health. Through information gathered from health officials and a case study of Cairo University Hospitals, the benefits of E-Health are reviewed and recommendations for adoption of E-Health are made
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Simulation using Envi-met A comparison between Cairo University, Faculty of Engineering PLAZA and 6th October University PLAZA
The research aims to improve the outdoor urban microclimate of two plazas locate in two universities in Egypt (Cairo University and 6th of October University), using Envi-met software. The research implemented by a research group within the Environmental Modelling & Simulation course, in the environmental design master program activities, Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Academic Year 2011/2012
