UU No. 22 Tahun 200

Soil degradation is expected to continue as forest conversion into other land uses increases significantly. In Indonesia, Jambi is one of the main areas for the development of oil palm and rubber, whichare mainly converted from the forest. As a base for better management, we attempted to study macro-porosity in rubber and oil palm plantation, in comparison to secondary forests.  Four landuse systems (secondary forest, jungle rubber, rubber plantation and oil palm plantations) in Bukit Duabelas, Sarolangun District, Jambi Province, Sumatera, were selected for this study. The number of macropores in vertical or horizontal planes and their related factors (root mass, litter thickness, % organic C, bulk density, water content at pF 0 and pF 2.54, aggregate stability) were measured within the soil profiles. Forest conversion to jungle rubber, rubber and oil palm plantation led to a decrease of macro-porosity in the soil profile, especially in the upper 50 cm. Macropores, both at vertical and horizontal planes in the secondary forest was significantly higher than other landuses. Horizontal macropores in jungle rubber were higher than rubber and oil palm plantation, but not the vertical macropores. Among the soil properties measured, litter thickness, coarse root dry mass (Ø >2 mm), mesopores and aggregate stability were closely associated with soil macro-porosity. However, macro-porosity in the soil profile was insignificantly correlated to soil bulk density and % organic C. Increasing the number of horizontal macropores resulted in higher nutrient leaching, especially K and Na

ABSTRACT   Christanti, Desy. 2011. Developing Supplementary Computer-Based Reading Materials to Improve the Motivation of the Eighth Graders of the International Standard Class of SMP Negeri 3 Tulungagung. Thesis, English Departement, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang. Advisors: Dra. Sri Andreani, M.Ed. &Suharyadi, S.Pd., M.Pd.   Key words: computer-based materials, reading, international standard class (SBI) curriculum   This research was intended to develop supplementary computer-based reading materials to improve the motivation of eighth graders of international standard class of SMP Negeri 3 Tulungagung. Based on the preliminary study, the main course book used in the international standard class was used in the regular program. The book also does not suit with the curriculum for Sekolah Bertaraf Internasional (SBI). Moreover, the students had low motivation to read the text and do the tasks in the workbook. Therefore, the product of this research is expected to overcome these problems by providing interactive and fun materials. This research used an adapted research and development (R&D) of the systematic instructional design by Dick and Carey (2001). In this model, the procedures consists of seven steps: (1) needs analysis, (2) developing reading materials, (3) developing computer-based reading materials, (4) expert validation, (5) revision I, (6) try out, and (7) revision II. The materials consist of six units, i.e., nature, adventure, history, fiesta, honesty, and water aid. As the result, the materials are put in an autorun installer CD-ROM which is necessary to facilitate the materials to be installed in the hard disk and to make it run faster. Thus, the product fulfilled three ideal criteria: (1) students' needs, (2) the curriculum of Sekolah Bertaraf Internasional (SBI), and (3) the design of the product. The first criterion was to make sure that the product was developed based on the students' needs. Therefore, the collected data from the try out was as an evaluation to know whether the product fulfilled their needs. The second criterion, the curriculum, was used to evaluate whether the product achieved the reading requirement in the international schools, especially in presenting the texts types. The texts types for international schools were divided into three: description, recount, narration, and exposition. The third criterion was the design of the product. Dealing with the students' motivation, the product presented the various navigations such as the main menu, back, next, and exist that were used to directly move through every scene and provided with the various tasks and feedback. In addition, this product design was intermediate level that increased the interaction between the students and the computer. Moreover, the result of the try-out showed that the students likes and enjoyed the tasks in the materials. They were interested in the computer-based application which consisted of videos, pictures and animations. It means that the computer-based reading materials are able to improve the students' motivation. Thus, the use of supplementary computer-based reading materials is expected to bring a positive impact to the teaching and learning reading so the learning process will be more fun. It is also expected that the materials can be an alternative media since the media used are still limited to the coursebook or workbook.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked anxiety and worry in society. Active cases have continued to grow since the government announced the first patient of COVID-19 in Indonesia. In the midst of this spread, adolescents are one of the dominant groups in society infected with COVID-19. This condition can trigger worry and fear of being infected again. Coupled with the transition of activities that were originally carried out outside the home, they had to change from home only. This situation can affect the psychological condition of adolescents. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the history of COVID-19 and anxiety and symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in adolescents aged 20-24 years in Surabaya.Subjects and Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Surabaya City from October to November 2022. As many as 100 youth aged 20-24 years in Surabaya were the subjects of this study. The dependent variable is anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms. The independent variable is adolescents aged 20-24 years with a history of COVID-19. The instruments used were questionnaires and PCR swab evidence collection. Research data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation. Results: The results showed that 74 subjects (74%) had mild anxiety. Meanwhile, there were 16 subjects (16%) who had symptoms of OCD. Analysis of the chi-square correlation test between history of COVID-19 disease and anxiety showed that there was no relationship between the two variables with a p value = 0.704. Analysis of the chi-square correlation test between history of COVID-19 disease and OCD symptoms showed that there was no relationship between the two variables with a p value = 0.086.Conclusion: There is no relationship between history of COVID-19 disease and anxiety in adolescents aged 20-24 years in Surabaya and there is no relationship between history of COVID-19 disease and symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in adolescents aged 20-24 years in Surabaya. Keywords: COVID-19, anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) symptoms.Correspondence:  Ayu Novia Christanti, Midwifery Program Study, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia. Self-compassion dan well-being orangtua

    Get PDF
