Childhood's waters: child and memory in poetry of Jáder de Carvalho

    No full text
Jáder de Carvalho has the child as a constant motif in his poetry. By means of the relation with the land of origin (the hinterland), the author's poetic production, activated by memory resources, tracks the paths of childhood mediated by experience and an educational process. Between the family abandonment and the precocious understanding of the world, we visualize a boy who interacts with himself and the world by a singularized perspective of childhood. Thus, the concepts of childhood and education are essential to understand the lyricism of the author, because there’s a strong connotation in the forms of learning by which the child passes. In contrast to educational narratives (bildungsroman) that follows a sequenced route to present the characters’ life line, we realize that line in a fragmented and dispersed way in poetry. The child representation in poems by Jáder de Carvalho presents itself poetically trough the word without concern for the temporal logicality. A state of childhood surpasses the chronology because adult and child are in the same plane of discoveries and concerns, indicating an educational process that remains in the poet in his old age. Thus, this study aims to examine the images of childhood in Jáder de Carvalho’s poetry and its relation to elements that are present in his childhood, like hinterland, family, loneliness and time. From considerations about the categories presented, we investigate how the hinterland, original landscape of author's experiences, acts in a relational way with the child who appears in the poems and how childhood and old age make a continuous flow of relations, pointing to a mobile and active dialogue between ages. With contributions from theoretical currents of Philosophy of Education (Montaigne, Walter Benjamin, Lyotard, Agamben), Theory of Literature (Mikhail Bakhtin) and Psychoanalysis (Ferenczi), we analyze how childhood and its journeys participate in Jáder de Carvalho’s poetics

The poetics of Sarah Kirsch : an esthetics of the kaleidoscope

    No full text
This study will analyse the work of the German poet Sarah Kirsch (born in 1935), in a kaleidoscope-kind of way, emphasizing the intertextual, intercultural and interdisciplinary approaches. Thus, the study offers a view as comprehensive as possible of all the aspects of Sarah Kirsch's artistic creation and enables the reader to (re)discover her work as an author of children's books or translator. The first part is methodological. As a starting point, it takes a certain number of notions, inherent to the collection of poems Allerlei-Rauh -which is placed at the center of the study - and which are applicable to Sarah Kirsch's entire work. The aim is to go deeper into the techniques of intertextuality and collage which are present throughout her work, and I will do this through the analysis of collections of poems, prose and journals. In order to be more objective, interdisciplinary approaches focusing on a microscopic vision will be used, to end with a macroscopic vision of her work. The second and third parts, respectively focused on the autobiographical writing and on the work of rewriting, are devoted to the collection Allerlei-Rauh. The concept of the kaleidoscope is used both as a tool for the analysis of this collection and as a methodological principle. By studying the crucial collection Allerlei-Rauh, the archetype of Sarah Kirsch's fragmentary writing, we can have a complete vision of her work : each fragment sends back to a signicant part of the edice, just like in a mirror. The fourth part of the study focuses on yet another aspect of her work, which can be described by this motto by the author : < Fahren und sehen und schreiben >. It will deal with apprehending writing in an open way by showing all of its components, especially interdisciplinary and intercultural ones : the obvious link between Sarah Kirsch's writing and Japanese short poetic forms, the role of travelling, the production of watercolours

Displacement and denouncing the novel Sua majestade, o juiz, of Jader de Carvalho

This work explores the romance Sua Majestade, o Juiz (1956) by Jader de Carvalho, whose plot is situated in the historical context of the first half of the 20th century in CearÃ. In the book, we studied the space related to the intention of social criticism and denunciation of the author as the structuring agent and organizer of the narrative. In the study, we highlight geographical locations (the capital and cities in the rural parts of CearÃ), where the protagonist seeking social mobility moves from one place to another and relates to character representatives of the great power sectors in Cearà such as politicians and judges involved in conservative practices where the clientele base prefers to use public institutions for private purposes. Each new place brings actions and characters to be reported, with an effect of repetition and generalization that reinforces the critical intention of the novel. This happens in the first part of the work, where the focus of the novel is in third person, then in the second part, narrated in first person, with some variations marked throughout the work. To analyze the book from a geographical place, we base our reflections on the theoretical work of Osman Lins about literature (1976), which guide the perception and characterization of areas studied in the work and on the historical-critical studies of Candido (2007b) about the value of geographic space in the Brazilian novel. We use critical thinking of SÃrgio Buarque de Holanda (1995) and Roberto Schwarz (2000), which addressed the preference of politicians who maintained public funds for private familial use in Brazilian society. We realized, through the analysis, that the novel raises questions which have a revealing and critical function which is the greatest strength of the book as it is addressed to the opportunistic behavior of the representatives of the governing institutions at that time, who were the greatest promoters of social inequality

TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Centro de Ciências da Saúde. Odontologia. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence of precancerous lesion diagnosed by the Oral Pathology Laboratory at UFSC. Materials and methods: Clinical and histological data related to these lesions were obtained from clinical and histopathological records, respectively. Results: Out of 230 cases, the most prevalent lesion was oral leukoplakia (73.48%), followed by actinic cheilits (15.65%), leukoerythroplakia (6.52%) and erythroplakia (4.35%). There was a significant association between the lesions and sex, male was the most affected in all types of lesion, especially actinic cheilitis. Caucasians were mostly affected for all conditions. There was a higher prevalence of all lesions between 4th and 7th decades of life. Concerning to anatomical location, the under lip was the most affected (23.17%). For intra oral lesions, there were more cases at jugal mucosa and alveolar ridge, 14.23% and 12.60% respectively. The most common diagnosis for leukoplakia was mild dysplasia (33.73%), while the erythroplakia was severe epithelial dysplasia (30.00 %). Of our entire sample, the most common histological diagnosis was mild epithelial dysplasia (35.29%). Conclusion: The precancerous lesions are frequent in clinical practice and according with this study the majority of lesions are diagnosed as leukoplakia, most prevalent precancerous lesion, presenting some degree of epithelial dysplasia. It shows the early diagnosis importance, as well as the surgical removal of precancerous lesions, to avoid the oral cancer progression
