    Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Estudos da Tradução, Florianópolis, 2013.Com a intenção de delinear o modo pelo qual o escritor italiano Alessandro Baricco se inseriu no sistema literário brasileiro e os caminhos percorridos pelos seus livros traduzidos, esta dissertação dá voz às experiências tradutórias de seus tradutores. A inserção de Bariccono Brasil tem seu início em 1997, através de uma proposição da Profa. Dra. Roberta Barni à editora Iluminuras da tradução de Oceano Mare. A partir daí, outras sete obras foram publicadas no Brasil, sendo três delas traduzidas por Roberta Barni e as outras quatro por quatro tradutores diferentes. De um lado, considera-se o tradutor como figura principal namediação entre culturas, e, de outro, se analisa a realidade desta figuradentro do sistema literário, sua invisibilidade, seus limites e o exercíciode sua profissão. A pesquisa conta, ainda, com críticas e resenhas referentes ao autor italiano publicadas em jornais consagrados no Brasil, considerando estas como parte constituinte da imagem de Baricco refletida em território nacional. Abstract : Intending to delineate the way the Italian writer Alessandro Baricco has been inserted in the Brazilian literary system and the paths his translated books have followed, this thesis gives voice to the translating experiences of his translators. Baricco's insertion in Brazil began in 1997, through a personal project of Dr. Roberta Barni, with her translation of Oceano Mare. Since then, seven other of his works have been published in Brazil, three of which were translated by Roberta Barni and the other four by four different translators. On the one hand,the translator is considered as the main figure in mediation betweencultures and, on the other, this figure's reality is analyzed within theliterary system: its invisibility, its limits and its professional practice. Criticisms and reviews of this Italian author published in well established Brazilian newspapers are also considered, with the understanding that they are part of Baricco's image reflected here

    A Novel Approach for Evaluating the Influence of Texture Intensities on the First Magnetization Curve and Hysteresis Loss in Fe–Si Alloys

    This paper examines the relationship between the magnetization behavior and crystal lattice orientations of Fe–Si alloys intended for magnetic applications. A novel approach is introduced to assess anisotropy of the magnetic losses and first magnetization curves. This method links the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy of single crystal structures to the textures of polycrystalline materials through a vectorial space description of the crystal unit cell, incorporating vectors for external applied field and saturation magnetization. This study provides a preliminary understanding of how texture influences magnetic loss rates and the first magnetization curves. Experimental results from Electron Back-Scattered Diffraction (EBSD) and Single-Sheet Tests (SSTs), combined with energy considerations and mathematical modeling, reveal the following key findings: (i) a higher density of cubic texture components, whether aligned or rotated relative to the rolling direction, decreases magnetic anisotropy, suggesting that optimizing cubic texture can enhance material performance; (ii) at high magnetic fields, there is no straightforward correlation between energy losses and polarization; and (iii) magnetization rates significantly impact magnetization loss rates, highlighting the importance of considering these rates in optimizing Fe–Si sheet manufacturing processes. These findings offer valuable insights for improving the manufacturing and performance of Fe–Si sheets, emphasizing the need for further exploration of texture effects on magnetic behavior

    La maturità di Alessandro Fei del Barbiere, in bilico tra Maniera e Riforma

    This article studies the mature career of the Florentine painter Alessandro Fei del Barbiere (1537-1592), beginning with the rediscovery of the 'Ascension' altarpiece formerly in the Albizi Chapel in the destroyed church of San Pier Maggiore, Florence. Studying this painting and others recorded in 1584 by the biographer Raffaello Borghini, such as the two altarpieces for Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Madonna dell'Umiltà in Pistoia, the author reconstructs a body of works showing how in the 1580s Fei gradually went beyond the archaic style of his apprenticeship - he had been trained by Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio and Pierfrancesco Foschi, but was also marked by the Maniera of Vasari - evolving towards naturalism in both mimesis and pictorial handling. In Florence, his development partly parallels that of Santi di Tito and his circle, but Fei was also influenced by a probable sojourn during the early part of that decade in Rome, where he could have been inspired by Girolamo Muziano and the painters working for Pope Gregory XIII. Among other proposals, the author suggests that the artist was responsible for decorating the chancel of Fiesole Cathedral (c. 1584-1589), which consisted of an altarpiece, only rarely discussed by scholars, and a cycle of frescoes hitherto attributed to Nicodemo Ferrucci

    Thermal and microscope analysis as a tool in the characterisation of ancient papyri (2004) E. Franceschi, G. Luciano, F. Carosi, L. Cornara, C. Montanari - Abstract: Analyses of papyrus plants (Cyperus papyrus L.) from the Botanical Garden of the University of Genova and Ciane River (Siracusa) were used as a basis for the detection of histological features in papyrus paper. Both modern and ancient papyrus papers were analysed. Modern papyrus were manufactured at “Museo del Papiro di Siracusa”; two types of ancient papyrus (Egyptian and Greek–Roman, from Cairo Archaeological Museum) were studied. Sections of paper and plant stalks, taken 20 cm from the top, were examined under a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and optical microscope (OM). The lignificated parts of both the plant and paper were either red (using acid flouroglucine) or blue–green (using Toluidine Blue) and were refracting under polarised light microscopy. Calcium oxalate crystals and starch granules were also detected. It was clear that the ancient Egyptian paper is richer in starch in comparison to the Roman one. It could be presumed that the Egyptian paper contains starch, a material which naturally occurs in the plant as a reserve. It was, in fact, preferably found in the residuals of the vascular bundle sheath. Microscope observations were compared with the results obtained by thermal and calorimetric analyses (TG and DSC). Thermal curves were different depending on which part of the plant was used to manufacture the papyrus and probably depend on the amount of cellulose and lignin present. Natta’s papers are also cross-referenced with those kept in the PCI Archive at the Gramsci Foundation. The author analyses the relationship that the PCI establishes with Gorbachev’s Perestroika, Deng’s China, and European social democracies during the last years of the Cold War

    Laser Powder Bed-Fused Scalmalloy®: Effect of Long Thermal Aging on Hardness and Electrical Conductivity

    This study investigates the microstructural evolution, porosity characteristics, and mechanical behavior of LPBF-manufactured Scalmalloy®, which were investigated in the as-built conditions and after long-term exposure to direct aging of 275, 325, and 400 °C. Optical microscopy, and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) analyses were employed to examine the grain morphology, pore distribution, and defect characteristics. In the as-built state, the microstructure displayed the typical fish-scale melt pool morphology with columnar grains in the melt pool centers and fine equiaxed grains along their boundaries, combined with a small number of gas pores and lack-of-fusion defects. After direct aging, coarsening of grains was revealed, accompanied by partial spheroidization of pores, though the global density remained above 99.7%, ensuring structural integrity. Grain orientation analyses revealed a reduction in crystallographic texture and local misorientation after direct aging, suggesting stress relaxation and a more homogeneous microstructure. The hardness distribution reflected this transition: in the as-built state, higher hardness values were found at melt pool edges, while coarser central grains exhibited lower hardness. After direct aging, the hardness differences between these regions decreased, and the average hardness increased from (104 ± 7) HV0.025 to (170 ± 10) HV0.025 due to precipitation of Al3(Sc,Zr) phases. Long-term aging studies confirmed the stability of mechanical performance at 325 °C, whereas aging at 400 °C induced overaging and hardness loss due to precipitate coarsening. Electrical conductivities increased monotonically at all tested temperatures from ~11.7 MS/m, highlighting the interplay between solute depletion and precipitate evolution
