This part sets the stage for a comprehensive exploration of the evolution of Islamic financial institutions, with a particular focus on cash waqfs. Including financial organizations of the South of Italy, the Netherlands, and England, this part paves the way for a comparison of the development and proliferation of these organizations. The introduction outlines the methodological approach employed in the book, emphasizing the use of comparative analysis to discern patterns, variations, and innovations in the development of financial organizations. Thus, the importance of examining historical precedents and understanding the cultural differences that had a significant role in financial practices is emphasized, providing a background for the subsequent chapters

Tracing the Connections of Transnational Financial Players with a Peripheral Country: Some Evidence from the South of Italy Over the First Globalization
We analyse some case studies stemming from the analysis of the dynamics of the international relations through which the South of Italy was integrated into the first wave of financial globalization. Our analysis shows how the construction and evolution of complex business and financial relationships networks were functional to (more or less known) international financial players to adapt to the evolutionary trends in the international credit markets and expand their business influence from the core countries of Europe towards peripheral countries. We follow the networks of some international business actors/groups already involved in business projects in pre-unitarian Italian states, and we show how their progressively expanding relational strategies worked in order to successfully connect the newly established international banks – Crédit Mobilier, Crédit Industriel et Commercial (CIC), Société Générale, Crédit Lyonnays, Paribas – to a vast Mediterranean area, between Italy, France, and Spain. The case studies analysed exemplify the role that financial and business networks played in the shaping of 19th century global financial capitalism as well as highlight the funding dynamics that led foreign capital towards peripheral countries during the first globalization

"Toliko su teškim i tragičnim životom živovali mnogi naši umjetnici i srednje i starije i još starije generacije da bi i nastanak i nestanak Bore Baruha mogao da se shvati kao uobičajena pojava. To bi značilo da je i on na određen način zahvaćen jednim od onih ciklusa koji su kod nas često nailazili i kosili u talasima, da su mogli ostaviti i ostavljali su dubljih tragova u našoj likovnoj umjetnosti. Neimaština, nesporazumi, probijanja kroz život, odlasci na studije u nepoznate, u mašti priželjkivane, zemlje, borba za održanje egzistencije, bolesti koje su odnosile mladosti, zatvori koji su na silu zaustavljali tokove, ratovi - sve su to nemilosrdni faktori koji su razrješavali i određivali decenijama tolike sudbine. Kao i mnoge druge velike i plemenite ličnosti oni nisu mimoišli ni Boru Baruha. A ipak u njegovom slučaju neke pojave su tako specifične. Događaji, koji su ga pratili tokom kratkog života i oni koji su došli poslije, bili su više nego surovi. Sve teškoće života iskusio je na sebi Bora, a djela koja su ostala iza njega kao da nastavljaju sudbinu svoga autora. Ne zna se koliko je Bora Baruh izvajao portreta, naslikao ulja, akvarela, crteža i skica. This would mean that he too was in a certain way affected by one of those cycles that often came across us and cut in waves, that they could leave and did leave deeper traces in our fine art. Poverty, misunderstandings, breaking through life, going to study in unknown places, in the imagination, desired countries, the struggle to maintain existence, diseases that took away youth, prisons that forcibly stopped the flow, wars - all these are merciless factors that resolved and determined so many destinies for decades. Like many other great and noble personalities, they did not pass by even Bora Baruh. And yet in his case, some phenomena are so specific. The events, which followed him during his short life and those that came after, were more than cruel. All the hardships of life he experienced on himself Bora, and the works that remained behind him seem to continue the destiny of their author. It is unknown how many portraits, oil paintings, watercolours, drawings and sketches Bora Baruh sculpted. It is known that before leaving for the partisans, he left a message that if he did not return, his works should be handed over to a cultural institution, museum, or cultural centre. And it was done. Today, however, only a list of 106 oils and watercolours is in the family's possession, while for most artworks no longer know where they are...
Bora event variability and the role of air-sea feedback

The definitive version was published in Journal of Geophysical Research 112 (2007): C03S18, doi:10.1029/2006JC003726.A two-way interacting high resolution numerical simulation of the Adriatic Sea using the Navy Coastal Ocean Model (NCOM) and Coupled Ocean/Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS®) was conducted to improve forecast momentum and heat flux fields, and to evaluate surface flux field differences for two consecutive bora events during February 2003. (COAMPS® is a registered trademark of the Naval Research Laboratory.) The strength, mean positions and extensions of the bora jets, and the atmospheric conditions driving them varied considerably between the two events. Bora 1 had 62% stronger heat flux and 51% larger momentum flux than bora 2. The latter displayed much greater diurnal variability characterized by inertial oscillations and the early morning strengthening of a west Adriatic barrier jet, beneath which a stronger west Adriatic ocean current developed. Elsewhere, surface ocean current differences between the two events were directly related to differences in wind stress curl generated by the position and strength of the individual bora jets. The mean heat flux bias was reduced by 72%, and heat flux RMSE reduced by 30% on average at four instrumented over-water sites in the two-way coupled simulation relative to the uncoupled control. Largest reductions in wind stress were found in the bora jets, while the biggest reductions in heat flux were found along the north and west coasts of the Adriatic. In bora 2, SST gradients impacted the wind stress curl along the north and west coasts, and in bora 1 wind stress curl was sensitive to the Istrian front position and strength. The two-way coupled simulation produced diminished surface current speeds of ∼12% over the northern Adriatic during both bora compared with a one-way coupled simulation.The research support for J. The investigation of native cloud monitoring services with the use of the site reliability engineering approach
Günümüzün artan kaynak ihtiyacı ve gelişmiş yazılım ortamlarındaki uygulamaların taşınabilmesi adına ortaya çıkan dağıtık sistemler, zaman içerisinde endüstrinin bulut bilişime ilerlemesine yol açmış ve bu konuda oluşan ihtiyacı artırmıştır. Bu ihtiyacın karşılanmasında hem bulut bilişim sistemlerinin hem de üzerinde çalışan yazılımların sağlıklı ve güvenilir şekilde kesintisiz hizmet verebilmesi için Site Güvenirlik Mühendisliği alanı ortaya çıkmıştır. Yapılan çalışmada bu iki kavramın en önemli bileşenlerinden biri olan izleme sistemleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu sistemlerin günümüzde uluslararası endüstride en çok kullanılan 3 büyük bulut servisi sağlayıcısı olan Amazon Web Servisleri, Google Bulut Platformu ve Microsoft Azure'un aynı servis bölgesinde kurgulanması yolu izlenmiştir. Üç önemli bulut yerleştirim mimarisi olan servis olarak altyapı, servis olarak platform ve servis olarak yazılım mimarilerinden servis olarak platform mimarisinde örnek uygulama yerleştirilmiştir. Örnek yazılım Golang dili ile geliştirilmiştir. Veri tabanları için ilişkisel veri tabanı türü, olay güdümlü örüntü için ise bulut servis sağlayıcılarının sundukları mesajlaşma araçlar kullanılmıştır. Daha sonrasında bu yazılımların sağlığı, sağlayıcıların sunduğu izleme yöntemleri ve endüstride sıkça kullanılan izleme yöntemlerinin uygulanması ile izlenmiştir. İzlemenin durumu çeşitli nesnel ölçütler olarak; sağlanan gösterge sayısı, maliyet, uyarı ulaşma süresi, veri toplama frekansı ve gösterge saklama süresi üzerinden karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu karşılaştırmanın sonucunda elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda, Site Güvenirlik Mühendisliği açısından önemli olan bu ölçütler üzerinden sağlayıcıların tercih edilebilirlikleri üzerine çıkarımlar yapılmıştır.The increasing demand for resources in today's world and the need for applications to be portable across advanced software environments have led to the emergence of distributed systems. Over time, this has driven the industry toward cloud computing and further intensified the demand in this domain. In order to meet this demand, the field of Site Reliability Engineering has been created so that both cloud computing systems and the software running on them can provide uninterrupted service in a healthy and reliable manner. The study focused on monitoring systems, which are one of the most important components of these two concepts. The way to structure these systems in the same region of Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure, the three most used cloud service providers in the international industry today, was followed. An example application was made on Platform as a service from the three important cloud deployment architectures, Infrastructure as service, Platform as a service, Software as a service. As a method, the sample software with the most used microservice architectures, API Gateway and event-driven architecture, was deployed on the virtual machines offered by these service providers. The sample software was developed with the Golang language, for databases, the relational database model has been utilized, while messaging tools provided by cloud service providers have been employed for event-driven patterns. Afterwards, the health of these software systems has been monitored through the implementation of both the monitoring methods provided by cloud service providers and those commonly used in the industry. The effectiveness of monitoring has been evaluated based on objective criteria such as number of provided metrics, cost, alert delivery time, data collection frequency, viand indicator retention period. In the light of the data obtained as a result of this comparison, in terms of Site Reliability Engineering, conclusions have been drawn regarding the providers' preferability based on these key metrics
Optimal maintenance of semi-markov missions

The mission process is the minimal semi-Markov process associated with a Markov renewal process. The system is a complex one consisting of non-identical components whose failure properties depend on the mission process. We prove some monotonicity properties for the optimal replacement policy and analyze the optimal repair problem under different cost structures
