"Selma" : "Selma"
Abstract The author Selma Lagerlöf was born in 1858 at Mårbacka, in Värmland and died in 1940. Fifty years after Selma´s death were her correspondence released and ten thousand of letters were found in the collection. But it was just the correspondence between Selma and Sofie Elkan who interested people because they wanted to know if Selma and Sofie have had a sexual relationship. Later, in time for Christmas 2008 the Swedish Television shows a film about Selma. "Selma Lagerlöf Society" was critical to the movie and thougt that the movie focused too much on Selma`s sexual orientation. This situation aroused a curiosity and a desire to find out why the film was perceived in this way. The purpose of this work is to show how the producer uses gender constructions to show that Selma was a lesbian and for that reason a thematic analysis was made from a social constructionist perspective. Different themes about gender constructions emerge in the analysis, and those themes are presented together with feminist theorist as Judith Butler, Yvonne Hirdman and Simone De Beauvoir. The discussion is about the presentation and how this can be perceived, but also about the reasons they might have had in mind when they made the presentation that way.Författarinnan Selma Lagerlöf föddes 20 november 1858, på Mårbacka i Värmland, och dog 16 mars 1940.

I examine a corpus of narrative texts (nouvelle, short story, and essay) and poems that focuses on the relationship between the narrative/poetic “I” and referentiality to account for new ontological dimensions of the first person in Argentine literature since 1990. Acknowledging the rich Argentinean autobiographical tradition from Domingo F. Sarmiento to Jorge Luis Borges, I argue that the works in my corpus present a shift from self-conscious and metafictional positions regarding the first person. I analyze a variety of uses of the “I” related to auto-fiction, the pseudonym, the “performance of the author” and the biography of the voice traced in the texts as representational strategies that address the fluid borders of the “I” in contemporary writing. My analysis takes into account works by Alan Pauls, Washington Cucurto, Silvio Mattoni and Matilde Sánchez. Based upon the theories of Philippe Lejeune, Régine Robin, Serge Doubrovsky, and Sylvia Molloy regarding the definitions of auto-fiction and autobiography, I identify the emergence of new meanings and functions for the concept of intimacy and strategies of self-representation. These changes in subjectivity and writing in the first person are strongly marked by postmodernism and globalization. Following the considerations of Néstor García Canclini and Arjun Appadurai on globalization and new media, I argue that in contemporary times there are new parameters of production of space and time that have a strong impact on the subject configuration and its ways of relating to the world where experience plays a key role in new articulations of the “I”. In my corpus I also analyze the gradual but persistent genre hybridization of texts that also engage with the visual. The texts I study increasingly refer to and incorporate images such as photographs, drawings, and comics. Politics and collective imagination are other aspects of literature in the first person. All the works I analyze transcend the individual to relate to others. Some of them make specific comments on politics or promote the development of community projects, such as the cooperative Eloísa Cartonera. Others address gender issues and their relationship with the male literary tradition. From different perspectives and approaches all of them take part in the interplay and discussion of the contemporary Argentinean cultural field.Ph. D.Includes bibliographical referencesby Selma Cohe
The artistic method of Selma Lagerlöf, a study of form and idea in Körkarlen
The essay deals with the patterns of storytelling in Selma Lagerlöfs novel "Körkarlen". The focus is on the relationship between idea and form. Selma Lagerlöf tries to show how the drinker David Holm comes to insight about his own shortcomings and faults without knowing that he is in fact educated by his old friend. The author of this essay tries to show that Selma Lagerlöf use the same method in relation to the reader of the novel. Selma Lagerlöf wants to enlighten the reader without actually preaching. To som extent the essay deals with typical patterns of storytelling that Selma Lagerlöf uses, such as her symbolic method, her use of patterns from legends and ghost stories and finally her esthetics.

The Impact of Economic Diversification on Economic Growth: Econometric Study Using Panel Data Model on the Arab Countries from 1999 to 2020
This research aims to examine the relationship between economic diversification and economic growth by applying the panel data model to six oil and non-oil Arab countries: Algeria, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and Morocco, Egypt during the period (1999-2020). The results of the study confirmed that the fixed effects model was the appropriate model to test this impact. Its results showed a positive impact between the economic diversification and growth variables and that the relative impact of the services sector was greater than that of industry and agriculture, while the joint integration results showed a lack of long-run relationship between the variables in the model

Sex and Civil Rights: The True Selma Story
The magazine itself is around 33 pages long and is in a rough condition with water damage on many pages. There are multiple articles throughout the magazine focusing on many issues. Firstly the article talks about the rise of Martin Luther King Jr. and his views on politics. The author then talks about the acts that allegedly took place just before the Selma protests. Next there are accusations of priests and other church officials having relations with minors. Images are talked about and how they can be taken out of context minimizing the pictures that were taken from the march. Finally the author speaks on the connection between MLK and the Communist party
