    academia in Turkey

In the context of the restructuring of Turkish academia, the concept of internationalisation has been affected by amendments to the Higher Education Law. Interviews with 12 academics who are currently working in Turkish academia demonstrate in particular the loss of internationalisation. This article has found that the authoritarian government aims to build up and create a new academia and new academics. Amendments following the post-2016 coup d’état and the recent Covid-19 pandemic demonstrate that President Erdoğan’s ‘New Turkey’ tries to deconstruct academia and therefore restructure a ‘new academia’ similar to his political system, based on the order and command chain, and homogeneity. Building upon Marcuse’s theory, the article shows that Turkish academia can be labelled as one-dimensional. The article seeks to unravel how Turkish neoliberal authoritarianism takes advantage of Covid-19 in order to re-establish a new academia. The author elaborates on some of the current changes in Turkish higher education as a result of the recent amendments made by the Higher Education Law in 2020, as well as how the effects of the new law were further exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic

Cataloged from PDF version of article.Includes bibliographical references leaves 83-88.Woman characters who are generally in the foreground in the literary works of the prominent Turkish author Sevgi Soysal (1936-1976), draw readers’ attention to the fact that they had been created with similar characteristics. When woman characters who are generally unsatisfied with themselves, especially in Tutkulu Perçem (1962), Tante Rosa (1968), and Yürümek (1970) are analyzed from a psychoanalytic perspective, it can be seen they experience not only personal crises, but also show such characteristics that would fit the definitions of neurotic personality and frigidity. One of the most evident characteristics of this unique type of woman is that she believes she can reach the way of life she had dreamed of by changing herself. However, in the works of Sevgi Soysal, no woman can succeed in this in real life. Sometimes it can be seen that Sevgi Soysal defends women’s rights by using woman characters she has created in her works. When Soysal’s attitude is analyzed in relation to feminism the following may be said: In her early works such as Tutkulu Perçem, Tante Rosa, and Yürümek, Soysal criticizes the perception of woman as “other” in patriarchal society, but her focus is predominantly on individual problems. The question of women in the later works of Sevgi Soysal is seen as part of social disorder and represented in this way. The thesis concludes that Sevgi Soysal cannot be considered a “feminist writer” or her literary works as “products of feminism”. Furthermore, there are quite a few autobiographical elements in the works of Sevgi Soysal. The facts that woman characters in her books carry similar characteristics, and are narrated in a very consistent way cannot be seen as coincidences. The strong correspondence between Soysal’s private life and her narratives shows that the writer was trying to find a solution to her own dilemmas through the fictional characters she had created.Somuncuoğlu, Gamz

Uluışık, Çağatay (Dogus Author) -- Sevgi, Levent (Dogus Author)This paper presents two-dimensional (2D) user-friendly, tailored with attractive and useful graphical user interfaces (GUI), Matlab propagation packages based on the classical knife-edge model and the parabolic equation method that can handle realistic propagation scenarios with non-flat, arbitrarily-designed and user-selected terrain profiles. Any 2D propagation scenario may be built by the user, and field vs. range and/or height profiles can be simulated

Sevgi, Levent (Dogus Author) -- Conference full title: European Conference on Antennas and Propagation: EuCAP 2006; Nice; France; 6 November 2006 through 10 November 2006The use of novel broadcast and communication systems require reviewing and revisiting investigations of propagation characteristics over the Earth's surface along realistic propagation paths through inhomogeneous atmosphere in connection to the international standards like ITU, IEC and ETSI. The aim is to review early analytical studies as well as novel time and frequency domain powerful numerical techniques, and to discuss newly-introduced Matlab-based virtual propagation prediction tools that can be used for educational and research purposes
